Hizashi Yamada; Voice
(I already put this in my oc book but I'm lazy so its getting copied and pasted. I'm lazy and I really liked the explanation I gave ¯\_(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)_/¯)
Hizashi's lack of nostrils- its a really good example of varying mutant type quirks! Ive seen many theories as to why Hizashi lacks nose holes and so none of what I say is really my own(but its what I choose to believe) and it goes out to the many tumblr posts and few fics I've seen; Hizashi has a mutation in his respiratory system, and most likely his voice box. The mutation in his respiratory system- thats the lungs, mouth, nasal passages, bronchi, and among other parts for those who are uneducated cucumbers(the respiratory system is v complicated lmao)- is the explanation as how/why he can go on for a long time when yelling "YEEAAAAAAAAAHHHHH". The mutation to his vocal cords can explain the overall workings of his quirk.
Toga: Transform
Okay so, the blood Toga ingests contain DNA and cells and ya know other shit right? Well, her body must recognize that as foreign DNA and then that's when her quirk kicks in. A fleshy substance overcomes her when transforming and un-transforming(is that the word???).
Now going off of what I remember from the shifters from Supernatural(because the two concepts are very similar to each other), its like she has the power to grow excess skin in order to transform like the Supernatural shifters. She basically grows an extra "hide" (thats still as vaulnerable as skin already naturally is) and then sheds it off once her time limit is up(because remember the time limit depends on how much blood she takes in). Her own body's cells will be overcome by the new cells/DNA entering her system. Her skin cells can rapidly reproduce to create the likeness of, lets say Izuku, and it would come out as an exact copy.
[SPOILER FOR CURRENT MANGA ARC AHEAD]
As displayed in, I believe, chapter 225: Interview with a vampire, she can now use the quirk of the person she copies as seen whe she successfully used Ochako's quirk to pull the same trick Ochako used against Bakugou in the sports festival- but with a more malicious intent of course. That would mean quirks are coded into DNA snd is basically set in stone. So whatever person she copies there is the high probability that she can also take their quirk and use it. Hypothetically speaking, if she were to ingest blood of a previous OFA user who possessed two quirks- their original quirks and OFA- she most likely cannot use AFO as it is not in their DNA originally. So if she were to transform into Izuku, she cannot use AFO and, if shes clever enough, she could put two and two together- but lets not get into that lol.
Nemuri/Midnight: Somnambulist
I believe that her quirk has a lot to do with her hormones- both female and generic(aka what everyone has). Her feminine hormones, estrogen and progesterone- and other hormones I never fucking learned about- are possibly at a hyer level than normal, the same goes for melatonin. However her levels of melatonin have a reverse effect on her body itself. The excess amount of melatonin is "leaked" from her body's pores and is casted freely through the air. Its very similar to sleeping gas. Because her melatonin levels are almost always fluctuating I assume she has an irregular sleep schedule- which isn't important but eh.
With her hormones, I believe that plays a lot into how men are mainly affected. I dont have a definite theory as to how it works but it might be because the female hormones overcome the male hormones. Again, Im not too sure on this one. Females do have a lot more hormones than males do so that could factor into it as well.
But one thing I want to adress is how it would affect those with "artificial" hormones- aka transgenders who are on medications to rewrite/introduce new hormones to the body. An example can be Tiger, who is canonically F to M trans(hecc yeah!). He most likely does take medication to help him with his transition and the such alike so how does that fair against Nemuri's quirk? I would think he is slightly more immune to it, or basically he can hold his own against it than other men can but still not for very long.
I think the sex hormones is the main drive with her quirk, which actually matches her motif to a T. (Basically her quirk is why she has such an alarmingly strong sex drive lmao)
All For One/One For All and how they affect the holder:
First off, All For One;
Although I read through the wiki there really isn't much to go off from in my opinion. We do not know the specific number of quirks AFO can hold(I am assuming up to 5 maybe? Possibly more), and we don't know if quirks can be taken BEFORE they even manifest.
However, I do have one thing solidified for this, and it goes to the entire concept of quirk science: Quirks are already determined through DNA- won't go into detail about it as its not the main subject, just a component to it.
Now finally moving onto the main focus, I believe AFO has the ability to rewrite DNA, specifically the quirk part of it, which does include altering the body such mutations. I don't know much about DNA, it was like 6 or so years ago when I learned about DNA and RNA in detail so most of the shit is lost to me, so yeah.
I'll try doing more research once I figure out more information- which I think will come soon with either the current villain arc or when [MANGA SPOILER SKIP AHEAD TO NEXT PARAGRAPH IF NEED BE] Izuku sees the previous holders again or even when/if All Might has a talk with Izuku.
Next, One For All;
AFO and OFA are obviously the same quirk, just with varying differences. What are those differences? Well....
-OFA cannot TAKE quirks, it is already a given quirk. (I'll go into detail with this part soon)
-OFA needs a very well trained body where as AFO seems to only need a perfect body; what I mean is, the body needs to be suited to holding more than one or two quirks at a time(talking about AFO). If the body isn't then either the holder will die or just be crippled from the immense drawbacks of having so many quirks AND those individual quirks' drawbacks. As for OFA, a well trained body with a bit more than muscle is required because OFA continues to shape the body as time goes on; an overly trained body could result in the holder hurting themselves because, I don't know if you guys know this, muscles arent always good to have. They are heavy in a sense. Anyway, OFA gives off the illusion of flying by just jumping very high and imagine the strain. Anyway, Im just saying OFA needs a moderately trained body that can continue to be molded as things go on, whereas AFO needs a perfect body fucking sculpted by Michelangelo himself in order to be a host.
-OFA maybe a direct half-clone of AFO but it does have its own default powers. We arent sure if those are just mutations from how the quirk is passed down(traits and such do mutate as generations pass) so its a 100% unknown if its the same as when the first host had it. But even so, OFA does have its own individual powers.
Going back to the first point, OFA is a given quirk. AFO gave his brother this quirk because he was quirkless. AFO could have only given him a quarter, half, or even a fourth of the power of the quirk. Trailing off of that, it means that OFA really isn't apart of the DNA even after receiving it. What I mean is, OFA is apart of the DNA but not totally. Does that make sense? Probably not. Sorry.
I believe that the power courses through the body nonstop, just like any other quirk, but its more freely. Its not "tethered down". Its as if is more apart of the blood stream, but not literally. However, just as its been displayed, it can be pulled into one singular part of the body, meaning it can go into All Might's hair, then being able to be transfered over to Izuku.
Its a little hard and confusing to explain, sorry about that.
OFA enhances human capacity; strength, speed, defences, dexterity, ect. Think of the super soldier project and Captain America, just turned up to 1000%.
Izuku, All Might, and that one "black whip" holder;
Not much will be said except that OFA interacts with existing quirks and change over time.
Because Izuku and AM are formally quirkless, OFA does not have anything to mix with. But with the BW holder OFA had to adjust to that quirk and how it was used- in short, OFA adapts to changes very easily for each holder. That's basically its main feature.
For AM, his signature move is a smash, or a less vulgar word being punch lol. Because he's originally quirkless he uses the raw strength enhancement the quirk naturally has.
As for Izuku, he too uses the same strength feature as his main use- he is trying to be just like All Might after all. [MANGA SPOILERS AGAIN, SKIP TO NEXT PARAGRAPH] However, as time goes on he may be able to access the previous holders' quirks- and that is his mutation.
I won't talk about Nana as I/we really don't have any information to go off from of how she fought or even if she had a quirk.
Kaminari Denki: Electrification
Can we all thank Google for providing information school had never taught me? Thank you Google.
Anyway, onto the quirk science!!
Electricity is everywhere and the human body is no exception. Our cells where made to conduct electrical currents, and its important to our nervous system to send signals through the body and brain which makes it possible for us to move and think and feel. The elements sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium have a specific electrical charge to them. And almost all the cells in our body can use these charged elements, known as ions, to generate electricity. Ending off this little science class mumbo jumbo, the heart needs electricity in order to work, which is why doctors use shocky shocky life paddles to make us not go fish belly up. And our limbs need our nervous system, that uses sparky sparky energy to work, to do the movements, not videos game ragdoll movements though that's wrong.
Enough jokes aside, the body needs electricity in order to function.
With that being said, Kaminari needs a lot more electricity for his body to run and to use his quirk. And so he saps that electrical energy up like a battery. He maybe able to store the electricity within his body, but possibly not for long? Cause that probably be bad. With his brain "short circuiting" idk. I know the brain uses electrical waves of some kind to transport stuff all over it and send signals and stuff. I'm assuming the massive amounts of electricity just overload his senses and such.
There's honestly not much to say about Kaminari's quirk in all honesty. It's a pretty common and straightforward superpower to think of- not basic per say, just very common within hero fiction in general.
In fact, most elemental based powers are very commonly picked powers and they can be interpreted in anyway possible.
Anyway, are these ones are done! Any other quirks you wanna see explained- to the best of my ability that is ^^;
