Last year, I didn't have a car and I lived off campus. That is to say, I often had to ask my color guard friends for rides to and from things for marching band. (I lived no more than 10 minutes away from campus so it's not like I was asking the impossible.) Most of the time, my good friend was willing to help. We were fellow nerds, gamers, and cosplayers.

A lot of the time she was with this one friend of hers. I didn't know him all too well, but I knew he was also in band. Some sort of brass instrument, I don't remember which one specifically. Well it took me until AFTER the season was over to realize that they were dating. I genuinely thought they were just friends. I've basically been a third wheel this whole time and I didn't even realize it 😭😭
