Desiderium
TRIGGER WARNING
body horror that is descriptive on purpose
if you are squeamish or don't like descriptive imagery of organs n stuff maybe don't read this or at least proceed with caution
You clutch your aching heart
In shaking hands outstretched
You fingers itch
To wrap tightly round
Yet you force them open
Leaving it exposed
You feel its blood
Trickling down your arms
The beats growing slower
With every passing moment
You know it is dying
Your time is on its way
It has been picked apart
Scratches laced with venom
Despite it all
You do not hold it close
You do not shield it
Beneath layers of skin
You crave the feeling
Of a warm embrace
Of kind words
Of being safe
But one would have to reach
Press a hand to your chest
Peel back layers of skin
Slip their fingers between bones
Find it tangled in your ribs
To touch it on their own
And you know better
Than to have hope
Than to wish for such things
That do not exist for you
So you broke your ribs
Trying to wrench it out
Tore through tendons
Some still attached
And oh, how it aches
And that is all you know
whoa my 30th published poem that's so peak
10 years ago I was squeamish as hell now I adore disgustingly descriptive organ imagery <3
