We weren't made for each other,

Can't you see that our friendship is forever forbidden?

I try to make things work,

But it all comes crashing down with society's expectations.

We're different....

Different; race, religion, culture, the list goes on...

The only thing we have in common is our interests.

That's a good thing, but is it good enough?

I don't want to be criticized by others,

After all I've always felt like an outcast.

Never had a friend till now,

Yet I feel misplaced,

Like I don't belong...

So I write this poem to tell you my true feelings,

It's not as easy as you think.

I HAVE TRIED so many times to get these negative thoughts out of my head,

But how can I?

When our friendship is forever forbidden.

I try my best to cope,

But my best is never enough,

NOTHING IS EVER ENOUGH.

And you will never understand,

Until you step into my shoes.
