June's POV-
I sat up in my bed and yawned. I got out if bed and stretched. My hair was a complete mess but I didn't feel like brushing it. I walked into the kitchen and picked up a note from March.

Dear June,
I had to go to an early war, but don't worry I'll come back alive you have my word. Anyway you should enjoy this day to be all by yourself, just do what you want. Enjoy this day off from me. Bye!

I put down the note and grab a bag of dog food. I pour the food into a bowl and Yin-Yang comes running in. "Where's Shadow?" I ask. I walk into the living room and freeze. Shadow is laying on the floor, looking at me with cold, empty eyes. "Shadow." I whisper sitting down next to him. Shadow moves his head and looks at me, he wipers but sticks his toulnge out and licks my leg. "Thanks for the kiss." I say wiping the tears from my eyes. I rub Shadow's side and grab my phone and dial a number. "Hello?" Someone asks. "Hi. My dog he- I don't know what's wrong with him but I need help." I say wiping my tears once again. "Ok can they move or can you move them?" They ask. "I-I don't think so, he's in pain. My dorm number is 349 and I'm an Airforce Fighter Pilot." I say. "Ok, stay with him and unlock the door, we're on our way." "Please Hurry." Then I hang up. I unlock the door, then stay beside Shadow. Then Shadow started running in place and whimpering. "Shadow?" I ask. He slows his moves but his breathing got faster. "Shadow!" I yell tears streaming my face. Shadow looks at me his eyes full if fear and pain. I scratch his sweet spot while sobbing. Shadow's tail thumped on the floor, then his neck fell on the ground which is usually what he does when you rub his sweet spot. Then his tail slowed and his eyes went dull. I hurried my hands and face into his fur and I cried. Eventually the people I called came. It was the Vet, he was no help at this point but I was glad he came. They took Shadow and I knew I'd never see him again, at least I get to keep his collar.
March's POV-
I walk in the dorm and see June hiding in a blanket on the couch. "Umm." I say. June looks up at me with a tear streaked face. "March... S-Shadow died today." June cries. I sit down next to her and rub her back, crying myself. "Just promise me you'll remember him forever and ever!" I say smiling. June looks at the wall for a while then smiles. I told her that when we were little kids. Her alleycat Wild died and she did the same thing, his under her bed covers. She promised to remember him, at least that was never erased from our memory. "Shadow was so old." June says breaking my thoughts. I nod. Shadow was at least around 20 years old in human years. June has had him for a long time... a really long time, at least since she was 12. Then June stood up, the blanket falling on the couch, she grabbed her jacket and opened the door. "I'm going to go for a walk." June said closing the door behind her. So I took shower and crawled in bed, holding Yin-Yang close by. June will come home around 3, no point in waiting for her. Slowly I fall asleep.
