Chapter 8

Austin swats at a bug that lands on his forehead as he tries to sleep. He rolls over on his side to get comfortable. A few seconds later, he smacks his arm as he again feels something lands on his arm.

That is one of the cons of sleeping in a barn. Bugs, mosquitoes, crickets, spiders. Wait. SPIDERS!!??

Austin sits up quickly to see if it was, in fact, a spider crawling on him. He frantically looks around for the unwanted visitor.

"What the hell?" He whispers as he sees his body covered with pieces of hay.

Now you would think that sleeping in a barn full of hay, that would be expected. But his blanket fully covered the hay that he was sleeping on.

He slowly looks up as he sees a few pieces of hay floating down like snowflakes from the cracks of the loft above him.

That was when he tuned in on the sounds. Heavy breathing, soft moans and groans, and whispering.

He rolls his eyes when he realized the sounds were coming from the lovers in the loft. Their movements were causing the hay to fall on him. It was partly his fault for picking the stable under the lovenest to sleep.

Austin huffs as he grabs up his blanket and shakes the hay off of it before going to search for another area to sleep.

"How can they sleep through that?" Austin asks himself as he sees Chance and Nate sleeping soundly. "I guess they can't hear it because of Rob's snoring." He chuckles softly.

He spreads out his blanket and lays down.

"OH, MY GOD!!!!" The blonde suddenly screams out as his lover thrusts into him.

Austin watches in amusement as Chance, Nate and Rob spring from their pallets, grabs their guns and run to whatever door or window that was the closest.

"What the hell was that??!!" Chance whispers as he peeks out into the darkness.

"Oh, sh*t.... I can't breathe." Austin says through uncontrollable laughter. He had never seen his comrades move so fast before.

"What's so funny?" Nate asks as he glances around at the man, now holding his side from laughing so hard.

"You guys are." Austin says as he tries to catch his breath. "That's only Tim and Adam going at it like rabbits again in the loft."

"Seriously?" Chance asks from his position by the barn door.

"Yep." Austin answers as he rolls over to go back to sleep.

~~

The morning sun began to make its self known, as it's rays crept into the windows and the cracks in the walls.

The gang begins to get ready to go eat breakfast. Nothing had been heard from the lovers this morning.

"Guess I'll go wake the lovebirds." Nate says as he walks toward the ladder.

"I'd be careful if I were you." Chance says with a smirk on his face as he slips on his boots.

Nate had no idea what he meant by that. So, the statement was shrugged off. He climbs to the top of the ladder. Tim was laying on his side with his back to Nate, his arm was across his lover's stomach. Both were sound asleep and both were very naked.

'Maybe that's what Chance meant.' Nate says to himself as he reaches out for the outlaw's shoulder.

"Tim." Nate says as he shakes Tim's shoulder.

In the blink of an eye, Nate finds himself looking down the barrel of Lucille.

"OH, SH*T!" Nate shouts as he leans back.

Lessons learned today: 1) It's not too smart slipping up on a wanted outlaw when he's sleeping. 2) Leaning back on a ladder that is not anchored down isn't the smartest thing to do either.

"AHHHHHH!!" Nate screams as he and the ladder fall backward.

The three gang members on the lower level turn around just in time to see the blonde land safely in a haystack. Still holding on to the ladder. His eyes were wide with fear.

Chance laughs as he walks up and looks down at Nate.

"I tried to warn you." Chance laughs.

"What the f*ck..." Nate breathes still clutching the old wooden ladder.

"I thought everyone knew that it's not smart to startle Tim like that." Chance shakes his head as he looks around at Austin and Rob.

"Uh, excuse me?" Tim says as he and Adam peek over the edge of the loft.

Everyone turns their attention to the lovers looking down at them from the loft.

"Can we have our ladder back?" Adam asks with a smile.

"Sure. That is if we can get Nate's hands pried off it." Austin laughs.

"Sorry about that, Nate." Tim says with a soft chuckle.

The barn door suddenly swings open and Sam comes running in with his shotgun.

"Is everyone okay? I thought I heard one of you scream." Sam says.

"That would be me." Nate answers as he sits up and knocks the hay from his clothes and his hair. "I, uh, fell from the loft."

Sam glances up at the loft to see Tim and Adam looking down at them. Both looked to be shirtless. He slowly turns his head to look at Nate and raises a brow. Was there a threesome going on here?

"No. No, it's not what you're thinking." Nate says quickly, shaking his head. "I went up to wake them up. I fell and brought the ladder down with me."

"Oh. Okay?" The old cowboy says with a nod. "Well, breakfast is almost ready. We have a lot of work to do. I'd kinda like to get started on the chicken house today."

"Sounds good." Chance answers with a nod.

"I need coffee." Austin yawns.

"Me too." Rob says as they head for the door.

They follow Sam outside closing the barn door behind them.

"Uh, hello???" Tim calls out as he listens to their voices fade away.

"What the hell?" Adam giggles. "They forgot us."

"Well, ain't this the shits." Tim chuckles as he looks down at their much-needed ladder.

"Should we try jumping?" Adam asks.

"Hell, no, I'm not going to jump. My luck I would land on a d*mn pitchfork." Tim says as they begin to get dressed. "They'll be back."

~~ (Thirty minutes later)

"I think it would be best just to tear the whole chicken house down and build a new one." Sam says as he sips his coffee. "Instead of trying to repair the old one."

"That's gonna take a few days. What would you do with the chickens in the meantime?" Austin asks.

"I have some cages that I can put them in at night to keep anything from getting them." Sam says. "Not only do we need a new house but also the fence around it."

Lilly couldn't help but smile as she listens to the conversation. Her husband was trying to think of anything possible to keep the boys around longer. Yeah, they needed a safer chicken house for their chickens but the old one could easily be repaired. And be finished a lot quicker.

She smiles as she looks around the table. Wait. Aren't there supposed to be six of them?

"Guys? Where are Tim and Adam? Is one not feeling well?" Lilly asks in a worried tone.

Everyone stops eating as they glance around at each other.

"OH, SH*T!!!" Chance yells as he jumps up from the table causing Lilly's eyes to widen in shock.

The gang quickly runs out of the house leaving a laughing old man sipping his coffee.

"What in the world is going on?" Lilly asks as she hears the front door slam.

"It's a long story, Sweetheart." Sam laughs and shakes his head. "God, I love these boys."
