Purring for health and happiness
Rex laughed as he knocked shoulders with Cody. The man faked a stumble, accidentally knocking over a pot, causing Rex to laugh harder.
"General Kenobi just walked through, carry on," Cody said as a couple of troopers poked their head in at the noise.
"Oh, Fett!" Rex cackled as the troopers disappeared.
"That was your fault," Cody grumbled as he placed it back on the table.
"You blamed General Kenobi!" Rex spluttered through his laugher.
"It is a perfectly normal explanation; after all, that is why the pots have lids," Cody stated, tipping his nose up, "we strive to be as effective as possible, and lidding the pots reduces effectivity. We would not do so without reason."
Rex almost barked out a laugh.
"Careful, you're starting to sound like Wolfie," Cody warned, the corner of his mouth twitching.
"Take that back!" Rex shouted, his laughter stopping as he jumped at Cody, "I am not that filthy mutt!"
Cody snorted as his back hit the floor, "I don't know, you just tackled me like him," Cody pointed out, wrapping his hands around the man as he tried to pull away.
"Let me go then, Codes," Rex sniffed, trying to push away.
"Mmm, don't think I will," Cody stated, digging his nose into Rex's neck. "Been too long," Cody muttered, biting his lip to stop himself from smiling as Rex almost melted into him.
Rex's eyes had only just closed when they snapped back open again, "it's only been five minutes since the last."
"Mmm, too long."
"Sap," Rex laughed, poking his ori'vod in the side, "who are you and what have you done to Kote?"
"Kote's not present. Please leave a message after the beep–."
"Don't you dare-."
"–Beep."
"How are you so insufferable?!" Rex groaned dramatically.
"It's a skill," Cody grinned, pulling back to look into Rex's eyes, "one I've master very well."
Rex groaned, digging his head into Cody's shoulder as the man laughed.
-----
Rex managed to stop himself from yelping as he was knocked to the floor. Looking around, he was that he was hit on top of General Kenobi, who was on top of Cody. "Sir, I-"
"It is no worries, Captain; I do believe it was Waxer's and Boil's fault in any case," Obi-Wan laughed.
Grunting, Cody sighed, "might as well get comfortable, Rex; we will not be going anywhere soon."
"Why?"
"Seems the two Lieutenants decided its time for a pile," Obi-Wan stated, curling up better onto Cody.
"Aww, sir, we know you love it!"
"Think of all that lovely warmth!"
"Men, you've made your point," Cody groaned.
"Then can we make a point, sir?" Tree asked.
"No!" Cody shouted before groaning as the group climbed on top.
"You were not joking when you agree to the 212th was going to be worse than the 501st," Rex commented, shifting to look over at Cody better.
Cody narrowed his eyes, mouth opening to reply when General Kenobi shifted, and the Jedi's head moved to his neck, almost covering his mouth in hair. Snapping his mouth shut again, he resorted to increasing his glare to get the point across.
"Come quick, a pile!"
Rex's head snapped away from Cody. "No, Fives!"
But it was for nought as what felt like half of Torrent and Ghost jumped onto the group.
-----
"General, you need to go to medical," Cody stated as he watched Obi-Wan hobble through the battlefield.
Obi-Wan could feel through the endorphins to the tight ball of hurt, fear and panic.
"General Kenobi?" Cody asked, jogging forwards to grab the man's forearm.
Obi-Wan's eyes snapped over Cody. He could see the worry, confusion and concern over the man. "There's a ball in The Force; it's hurt, fearful and panicking constantly."
Cody pulled his hand away slightly, his eyebrows scrunching as he thought over what Obi-Wan said. "Someone feels upset in The Force?" He asked, waiting for Obi-Wan to nod before continuing, "and you want to help them?"
"No one should have to feel like that."
Cody briefly scanned the battlefield before nodding with a sigh. "Lead the way, General," he started.
Obi-Wan's lips twitched up into a grin.
'"Afterwards, you are going straight to Wrap," Cody finished.
The grin fell slightly.
-----
"Is it one of the 501st?" Cody asked as he continued to crouch next to where Obi-Wan was watching from the tree.
In front of them was a group of the 501st, having what looked to be a small debrief from Rex.
"Blue man."
Cody's eyes flicked straight up to Obi-Wan, 'blue man? Where did that come from.' "The 'blue man' is the one that feels that way in The Force?"
"Blue man," Obi-Wan nodded.
"Come in, Commander," Waxer's voice came through his in-bucket comms, "medical are questioning whether assistance is needed; neither of you has appeared post-battle."
"The General says the 'blue man' feels upset in The Force," Cody sighed, "he's agreed to visit medical once he's dealt with it."
-----
Waxer glanced over at where Wrap was glaring at him, "are you sure you can not get the General here now."
"I can not go scaling a tree to 'fetch' the General," Cody snorted.
"Why is the General up a tree?" Waxer asked, gaining a few glances from those walking by.
"I think the Tooka has control," Cody sighed before the comm exploded into swears and the sound of running.
"Commander?"
"General Kenobi! Put Rex down!" Cody almost shouted down the line.
"Wha-"
"General!" There was the sound of heavy breathing, "slow down!"
Waxer was startled when there was the sound of the airlock breaking on the helmet.
-----
Cody narrowed his eyes as he removed his helmet. Pausing, he let out a loud whistle, causing Obi-Wan to freeze enough for him to catch up.
Rex's startled face was almost etched in stone. Cody was unhappy that he had to turn off his camera and mic temporarily; as much as he'd love to look back on that face, General Kenobi might not want the reminder of losing control, and Rex would kill him.
"I think Rex would agree to breathe, General," Cody stated, move all three of them to sit on the floor.
Obi-Wan blinked over at Cody, his arms loosening briefly before tightening as Rex went to move.
"Hey, shh," Cody said, removing his gauntlet to allow his hand to touch against Obi-Wan's, "Rex won't get up; he just feels a little uncomfortable being pinned."
Obi-Wan blinked before looking down at Rex, loosening his arms again; he watched as Rex shifted but did not move.
"Thank you, Cody," Rex sighed before eyes widening as General Kenobi shifted them until he was the one sat on the floor with General Kenobi on his lap, purring.
Cody narrowed his eyes at the action, running his hand down Obi-Wan's side; he froze as the man hissed. Pulling his hand away, he could not help but sigh as he slowly saw a damp patch forming on the robe. Making sure Rex was dealing with Obi-Wan, Cody slowly pulled away the outer robe from the patch, spotting the burns from a bolt.
'Something wrong?' Rex signed behind General Kenobi's back.
"He's been shot, and I think he has a concussion from being thrown back again," Cody sighed, positioning himself to grab Obi-Wan if needed.
"Sir, if you are hurt, then you need to head to medical," Rex stated.
Obi-Wan shifted until he was able to turn his head to look over at Cody.
Cody resisted the urge to sigh as he saw through the owlish blinking to the concussion in Obi-Wan's eyes. "Sir, it would make Blue man feel much better if you let medical help you."
"It would, General Kenobi," Rex added helpfully to the purring man.
With a slight grumble, Obi-Wan got to his feet, keeping a tight arm around Rex. As he stumbled slightly, he felt Cody grab onto him.
"You okay, sir?" Cody asked as he watched one side of Obi-Wan go slack at the leg.
"Hurt more than realised," Obi-Wan muttered, struggling through the instincts.
"Alright, sir," Cody nodded before adding, "this is why we should have headed straight to medical."
"Warp straps me up if he thinks I willing approach," Obi-Wan muttered, his eyes glassing over.
"And he'll wrap you up now that it is so bad," Cody huffed, grabbing his helmet as the three started their walk to the medical tent.
-----
"I– Cody?" Rex asked as General Kenobi grabbed him when the man started to curl up on the medical cot.
"Let the General; his instincts want to make you feel 'better' in The Force," Cody sighed, wrapping Obi-Wan up in one of the spare blankets, "and if we appease the instincts, he'll stay in medical for longer."
"Is there not some rule against this?"
"Using recently developed Tooka instincts to make sure the General attends medical and does not die?" Cody asked, raising an eyebrow, "of course, I'll have to check."
"I checked!" Book shouted from one of the cots in behind the curtain, "there is only one about making sure if new instincts happen with Commanders that they are to be watched and place in quarantine if needed. Nothing to do with Generals!"
"Book, what is the curtain for?" Cody called, staring up at the ceiling in his annoyance.
"That those within the curtain require privacy!" Book answered before going silent for a moment and apologising quickly. "Sorry, got over-excited; I'll sleep now, then bash pots later!"
"I'll tell Stab to leave the fish ration bowl for you," Cody stated sharply before pinching the bridge of his nose.
Rex looked thoroughly amused, "fish ration bowl?"
"The way we got the General to eat more was to mix fish oil in with the rations," Cody sighed, "it is the least wanted job on the ship. The more I use it as punishment; the less Stab makes me do it."
"Why do you have to clean them?" Rex asked, his eyes shining with amusement, purring Jedi on his lap forgotten.
"I suggested it, not expecting the General to like it so well," Cody sighed, before groaning, "and I am pretty sure Stab will stab me if any of the chefs have to clean them."
Rex's head tipped back as he tried to silence his laughter.
Obi-Wan's, feeling the amusement spike in the air, purrs increased, his head nuzzling slight against Rex's arm.
Rex froze, looking over Cody. Rex felt like glaring as Cody gave him that cocky smile that only meant trouble.
"He wants you to pet him."
Rex's mind stuttered to a stop.
"Like, stroke his head," Cody explained.
Rex's mind proceeded to break.
"Is the Blue man being bad?" Cody asked, leaning forwards and running his hand over Obi-Wan's hair, much to the man's instincts enjoyment. "You asked for so little," Cody further, his eye twinkling with mischief as he continued to stroke Obi-Wan.
Obi-Wan felt the whine leave his throat as he nuzzled further into Rex before purring again at the hand running through his hair.
"Now, what shall we have to do?" Cody questioned, knowing that Obi-Wan was beyond answering.
Rex grumbled before slowly raising his hand and running it over General Kenobi's hair.
Obi-Wan purred, leaning into the blue man's touch.
"See, not so terrible, is it?"
Rex sighed, his lips twitching as he replied, "I suppose not."
