When desert life comes upon a stream in their hot sandy home, they gladly drink from the cool water pouring from the earth. They might even stay for a while to enjoy their new-found drinking hole. Like the desert creatures seeking water, we should seek God for He is eternal water. When you drink His water, you will never thirst again. In John 4:14 we see Jesus talking to a Samaritan. He tells her that if she believes in Him that she will get the eternal water that is Heaven. He also tells her that anyone who drinks the water from the earth will be thirsty again, so as Christians we should look to The Lord when we are thirsty and he will provide. Of course, Jesus is not saying to never drink water. He is saying that he will provide all your needs, and you do not need to depend on the earth to provide.

John 4:14 NIV

but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life."

John 4:13

Jesus answered, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again
