Escaped Darkness
Attacking the floor,
With my feet,
Fast paced,
I waited for lights to come on,
In the surrounding darkness.
Suddenly,
The room lit,
Not with lights,
But something far better,
And I turned my head towards it.
The light was a bundle,
From which came cries,
Similar to that of a baby,
Which was not in existence,
A moment ago.
A shining fireball,
Full of energy,
Was thrusting her fingers,
Into the eyes of the doctor,
Who brought her to the world.
She kicked her legs,
And fist pumped the air,
As she was handed over to my mother,
Who was happily smiling so much,
Which was the opposite of her agony a moment ago.
She took the bundle in her arms,
Kept on smiling as her daughter went on crying,
My dark world becoming brighter moment by moment,
My blurred life getting clearer and clearer,
My heart thumping in my chest.
The moment of clarity,
Was just then,
It was never there,
Until the bundle came into the world,
Where it was dark.
I saw for the first time,
The beauty of life,
The carrier of innocence,
In a bundle,
That was my sister.

I dedicate this poem to my sister on her tenth birthday.
You really brought bright lights into my life chickie!
Love you raise to infinity.
