The question kept swirling in the unicorn's mind, she was pacing, pensive, when a voice pulled her from her thoughts.

- Finally, you're here ! Discord said, visibly irritated. Next time you leave for no reason, at least tell me where you're going.

- You're not my father, so I don't have to tell you where I'm going ! riposted the caped unicorn.

- No, but may I remind you, Solar, that you are still under my responsibility until the problem is solved ! the draconequus said, making the request appear in front of her.

The unicorn made the paper disappear, she was the pony best placed to know this agreement and couldn't forget it. But she couldn't stand Discord meddling in her problems; it was her fault that she had gotten to this point, so it was up to her to fix the situation as quickly as possible.

- By the way, Discord, did you feel the darkness growing in that pegasus ? Solar asked, flipping through a book.

- Yes, and oddly THIS pegasus. Discord said, knowing that Emoshy was under Fluttershy's responsibility. Do you want me to go take a look ?

The unicorn nodded and the draconequus disappeared. Solar remained there, with this question which tormented her more and more and with no work which could help her, and having only her instinct to guide her.

- Rrrgh ! Why are we so naive when we live a perfect life ? she wondered aloud. Why did this happen despite the predictable attack ? If that hadn't happened, everything would be much easier !

Discord returned, enraged, a few minutes later.

- That young mare, if Fluttershy didn't protect her, I would turn her into an orange ! the draconequus yelled, turning the walls into fire.

- You know, making fire when getting angry is my job. Solar said, chuckling. Now I would like my home to stop burning.

- Excuse me for my disgrace, madam the nymph, but I am the master of chaos and you will have to get used to the unexpected ! Discord growled, getting things back to normal.

The unicorn chuckled again, admittedly the draconequus was annoying and intrusive, but when you knew him enough, he was found to be quite benevolent and friendly. And she had known him since she was just a year old, which had given her time to know him by heart.

- So what happened, old grumpy you ? Solar asked, turning back to Discord. How was she during the conversation ?

- Cold, disinterested, and insolent ! replied the draconequus, gritting his teeth. It makes you wonder how Fluttershy educated her.

- I wonder if it has a relation in any way with the magical event of yesterday... asked the unicorn again aloud. Or if she has something to do with her.

- We'll see, for now, you have to sleep. Discord said in an authoritative voice. And don't tell me it's too early or that I shouldn't tell you what to do.

Solar smiled and did so. Discord also knew her by heart, and that was surely one reason they were so close; they were best friends after all.

On Monday, Solar was woken up by Discord who reminded her that it was the first day of high school.

The unicorn went to one of the only high schools in Equestria: Canterlot high school. There was another in the Crystal Empire, but Solar preferred to go to the one in her hometown.

She picked up her things, made Discord promise that he wouldn't do anything stupid, and headed for her destination; ready to listen to the usual boring speech.

But there, she was surprised : Emoshy was in that high school, and in front of her. It was not the fact that the pegasus was studying in this big high school that gave her this reaction, she expected it. The school was big enough that not all the students could be noticed, even in two years. What surprised her was finding her from day one.

Solar nevertheless had to be careful, she was not wearing her cape in high school, so the yellow pegasus absolutely didn't know that she already knew her.

She stabilized her magic which, in surprise, had increased the volume of her fiery mane, and tried to start a conversation.

- Hi ! Solar called out in a friendly tone. I've never seen you before, what's your name ?

The pegasus lifted her head and looked around to see if the unicorn was talking to her.

- Hi, my name is Emoshy. replied the yellow pegasus with a smile. And you ?

- My name is Solar Ignis. Without wanting to sound too curious, why are you standing there all alone ?

- To prepare myself psychologically for the headmistress's speech. Emoshy said with a smile before she and Solar laughed.

They spoke before, during, and after the speech and were surprised to know that they were in the same class and had (almost) the same classes; the only difference was that the unicorns had classes in magic instead of physical education.

Solar and her class, therefore, had on the program : a literature course in Ponish, a speed test in physical education / power test during magic, baking cookies in the kitchen, and, after dinner, the story of the goddess Harmonica in history class followed by geometry in math.

The unicorn had done her best to follow the lessons carefully, but her question and the recent strange events haunted her and she was sometimes called out by her teachers.

She was relieved when class ended and went home.

Solar continued her research as soon as she walked through the doorway. She had to find a rational explanation for the moon's change in shape, as Discord had felt magical vibrations concerning this event.

The next day, arriving in high school, Solar saw Emoshy accompanied by four of the five ponies who were with her in Ponyville. The yellow pegasus had on a hypocritical smile done well enough to look like a shy smile.

Emoshy quickly saw the unicorn approaching, her smile grew livelier and she blushed slightly.

- Everyone, this is Solar Ignis, the unicorn I told you about. Emoshy said, taking not only her friends' attention but Solar's as well; the latter was very surprised by the behavior of the pegasus.

- Hello...? Solar managed to say after the silence created by those looks that seemed to judge her.

- Hi Solar, I'm Stardust ! the famous daughter of Rainbow Dash stated, visibly full of self-confidence.

- And me, it's Apple Wolf. said Applejack's daughter, giving the unicorn a big smile.

- Nice to meet you Solar Ignis, my name is Ruby. greeted the famous daughter of Rarity, in a distinguished manner.

- Greetings, my name is Dream. said a blue unicorn with a silver mane, shy but still smiling. And pardon me for the way I express myself.

This last remark made everyone laugh, including Dream.

- Anyway, I think we're all friends now, aren't we ? Emoshy asked, to which all of her friends answered yes.

Solar tried to hide her surprise. She wasn't very social, Discord had been her only friend ever since she was a foal; so she didn't know if we can become friends so quickly.

The bell rang, stopping her thoughts. And all the ponies went to their class.

Emoshy was satisfied, she had managed to get her friends to see Solar as a friend. It was very determined that Emoshy went to class, sitting next to Solar, already impatiently awaiting lunch.

- Like that, you can have a new best friend without these ponies realizing that you no longer consider them as such. Shadow whispered, as content as the yellow pegasus.

Emoshy attended classes more carefully than the day before, but she was still a bit lost in thoughts, listening to Shadow's advice.

At lunch break, Emoshy invited Solar to join them.

Emoshy instantly noticed the embarrassment of the beautiful unicorn.

- Don't worry, I'm sure it won't bother them. Emoshy said with a kind smile. We are all friends, remember ?

- Well, if that's so, why not. Solar replied in the end with an uncertain tone and smile.

Emoshy and her new friend walked over to the cafeteria, and once there, to their table.

Emoshy saw that, like her, her friends had taken the same food as the day before.

Solar and Emoshy came to them and, as Shadow had planned, they accepted her company.

Solar took out her food and tried to join the conversation. She had a croissant that looked like it was a butter and cheese one, a syrup that was possibly raspberry, and the leftover of a dark chocolate bar.

Emoshy, meanwhile, had a cheese and salad sandwich with the little something she bought from Daisy. She also had her trusty water bottle and a piece of cake.

- Ya afraid of the Sunshine Petals' murder at night ? Apple Wolf asked, putting away what was left of her Hayburger for her apple turnover, quite frightened by the event.

- If it was in a small town like Ponyville, no, but in a big city like Jumanhattan... said Ruby, putting down the spoon that allowed her to eat her delicious little pudding, as terrified as all the other ponies at the table.

- Let's just hope it doesn't occur again. Dream said, stopping to eat one of her two night-blue frosted cupcakes probably made by Pinkie 'Bot, trying to reassure both herself and the others.

There was a silence in which the end of the meal was plunged and which was only stopped by the ringing bell. And they scattered to go to their class.

The end of the day passed peacefully enough for Emoshy, who ate quietly and went to bed. She was sure that after this murder by a vampire, the end of the year would be calm and without problems.

She didn't know how wrong she was.

Emoshy woke up with enormous pain in her wings. She was lucky that she didn't have physical education today, as she clearly wasn't able to fly. She felt like her feathers had been torn off one by one before twisting her wings and putting the feathers back on top.

Emoshy decided, for her safety, to go to high school on hoof. And she found Apple Wolf on the way.

- Ya know what happened too ? asked the wolf pony, obviously trying to refrain from panicking.

- Uh... No, what happened ? asked the yellow pegasus, worried by the fear of Apple Wolf.

- Lucky Clover died tonight, also killed by a vampire ! Apple Wolf replied, sharing her fear with Emoshy.

- W-what ? A vampire came to kill a pony in our town ? Fluttershy's cousin asked, horrified. But, it could have been any of us !

The rest of the way was done in oppressive silence.

The first two periods were replaced by a course on the various murderers who lived in Equestria. And although knowing that they would have this class was supposed to reassure the students, they were scared to come to class.

- You must not be afraid Emo', I'm sure this vampire will not hurt us. Shadow said with a smile.

- She's right Emoshy, you have to focus on your lessons and not on a vampire who has nothing to do but kill ponies. Glow added with a reassuring but nervous smile.
