"So, what are the odds of us surviving Hogwarts?"
"....0.0000000001 percent."
"Pretend I never asked..."

Even in the 2000's, getting your Hogwarts acceptance letter or showing any signs of accidental magic was a thrill that was felt by every young child across the magical world. It didn't matter that they had technology now or that the Muggle world was becoming more and more advanced, as long as Hogwarts still stood and as long as young wizards and witches were being sorted, knowing that you weren't a squib was a relief that only the old children of the 19th century ever got. Of course, the most notorious families that were relieved were ones who had served in the battle of Hogwarts, protecting others and defeating Voldemort.
Perhaps this was the reason why Harry sat on the living room sofa in his home, drumming his fingers against the mug of coffee he held as his eyes glanced over the two toddlers playing together. His Nephew, Amos, was already levitating blocks and making his sheets change color but whenever he and Ginny turned their heads toward the youngest of the bunch, Remus, the young boy wouldn't even bring a jar of teething rings to himself.
Harry didn't know why nor did he want to seem like a father who was no better than Snape or even those nasty pureblood cases he had gone through with Hermione, but watching his son play like a normal human being was unnerving, maybe the young boy was simply a late bloomer? That could be the answer considering Harry himself had still caused accidental magic at the age of eleven. The loud shout of his name was enough to bring him out of his thoughts as his eyes landed on the red haired baby boy who was trying to get his attention.
For a moment, Harry's heart nearly soared as he thought of Remus wanting to show him something magical that wasn't him able to climb the shelves despite taking an hour to. His fantasies came to a end when his son merely gave a gummy smile that showed the teeth that were there already and the ones that were still growing before throwing a block in the air. A giggle caught his attention and his eyes drifted towards his nephew who clapped his hands with a toothy grin causing the block to shift into a plush bear that soon fell in the middle of the babies. Harry managed a tight lipped smile before standing to his feet and walking into the joint kitchen, shoulders tense and eyes trained on his coffee that he hadn't even taken a sip out of.
"You seem tense, what's the matter now?"
The soft voice of his wife almost made him jump, hand tightening around the handle of the mug before he dumped the contents into the sink and set it down gently. He turned just a bit to catch the disapproving look of his wife, Ginny Potter. The red haired woman held her lips in a frown and with her eyebrows furrowed and arms crossed her stomach, Harry knew that he was about to get a short lecture about how he had just acted, even if Remus was too young to understand, he wasn't too young to remember what happened.
Breathing in deeply, Ginny settled her look back on her husband to make sure he was paying attention and not ignoring her speech like usual. She chewed on her lower lip for a few seconds, trying to arrange her thoughts in a order that would make sense when she spoke them aloud, of course her husband seemed to beat her to it as he heaved himself off of the counter and stretched his arms and back, popping and cracking noises being heard from his stiff joints.
"I know I'm not suppose to feel angry or disappointed in my son. I know I'm not suppose to feel jealous over my brother's son instead of loving my own how he is. Ginny, I know this but you can't expect me to be so calm about this, not when he's the son of the chosen one. Not when he's suppose to be flying on a toy broom and making salt shakers explode like Albus, James, and even Lily did."
Ginny frowned, mulling over the words that Harry had let slip from his stress before shaking her head slowly and bringing her lips into a scowl. No matter how much she wanted Remus to show some signs of magic, being a squib wasn't so bad in her opinion, he was still their son, he was still the same baby boy who thought that Ginny and his grandmother were alike and pretty, he was still the same boy who shared his toys with his cousins, made sure that everyone was comfortable on play dates, he was still the same old boy she had given birth to and the woman would be damned if she let one single trait define how much love her son deserved.
Not willing to stand near her husband longer, Ginny simply let out a sigh of frustration and turned away, swinging the door open and giving off a small smile as Remus squealed at her arrival, holding his arms out and babbling 'Mama' over and over. Amos's blue eyes traveled over towards her and he gave a half hearted wave, clearly not happy that his cousin was stolen from him. Rolling her eyes just a bit, Ginny walked towards the sofa, settling herself on the cushions and smiling even more as she picked up the remote. Through out the course of the years with Harry, Ginny had learned to adapt to Muggle technology and was now quite fond of watching her nephew and son babble to each other about how Spongebob worked. Turning on the TV, the familiar tune of Spongebob echoed along the room which only caused both Remus and Amos to swivel their heads towards it and exclaim just as the TV did.
"Aye, Aye, Captain!"
Remus even took it upon himself do to a mock salute with his small hand positioned on his forehead as Amos let out snorts of laughter, tears already coming to his eyes from his cousin's rather silly antics.
Through the kitchen door, Harry watched with a frown upon his face. If Remus didn't show signs of magic soon, was there any real reason to keep him in a household of wizards and witches, a household where magic was everywhere? The male shook his head softly, as much as he loved his family, he didn't want to see it get torn apart by a son who wasn't like the rest.

Contrary to what Harry Believed himself, through out the years of growing up, Remus had only been seen to shown small spurts of magic that were barely able to be called anything but Harry would take it. It wasn't a surprise to him when two owls landed on his window that morning, holding letters for both Lily and Remus. While lily had rushed off to call Hugo using the house phone screaming that she had got into Hogwarts, Remus could only smile nervously and neatly fold his letter before rushing off to his room.
That day, Remus had called his cousin up, waking Amos up from one of his 'precious' naps and getting a threat that was too ridiculous to be true, Remus didn't particularly mind as he stared with wide and unblinking green and brown eyes at the letter that lay on his bed and when Amos got tired of listening to his cousin's breathing for the past ten minutes, he opted to hang up until a loud squeal almost made him deaf.
"Amos, Amos!"
"Why are you squealing like a pig?"
"I got into Hogwarts!"

[A/N: That's the end of the Prologue! And for people wondering why Harry is acting like that, No, I didn't base him off of cursed child, I figured that, with him being the one to have defeated Voldemort and being the one that the whole wizarding world adored that he would be very nervous that Remus wasn't magical, after all, he is the son of the boy who lived.]
