Chapter 1 😸
~Y/N POV~
So here I am, standing outside the rescue centre for hybrids. Once I go in there's no going back, I'm picking a hybrid for company. I'm sick and tired of being alone and my therapist thinks it would be a good idea, since I'm in early stages of depression.
Anxiety builds within and my nerves creep up on me, can I really do this?
I scratched the left side of my neck where my scar is, from that awful fateful night that took away my parents. It's now or never I keep telling myself. I have to do this for myself, for some companionship.
Taking deep breathes I decided to walk into the building with a clear mind.
I'm greeted at the reception with a nice looking guy, he smiles sweetly at me and he puts down his phone to talk with me.
"Welcome to the hybrid rescue centre, how may I help you?" Receptionist
"I'm here to adopt a hybrid please."
His smile widens and he stands up from his seat.
"That's great. I can be with you in one moment and I'll show you around. Please take a seat over in the waiting area, I won't be long." Receptionist
"Thank you."
I turned around and walking over to the comfy looking seats with cushions on them. It's a small waiting area but it's clean with white washed walls and posters of animals decorated everywhere. My guess is that they would be the hybrids in animal form, maybe even the ones that have been adopted already.
"Are you ready?" Receptionist
I flinched at the voice and stood up. He held out his hand for me and carried a clipboard with the other.
"My name is mark. It's nice to meet you." Mark
I shook his hand and forced out a smile. I'm not really much of a people person other than the on friend I have known since birth. So I can be a little awkward at times.
"Nice to meet you too. I'm Y/n."
He widens his smile and starts writing in the clip board after letting go of my hand.
"Okay. Now if you would like to follow me, I'll show you some hybrids that are available for adoption." Mark
He turns around quickly and walks toward the double white doors with small windows on each of them. I followed him as he opened the doors for me and it was a total change of scenery.
Through here was filled with cages and animal noises. Even the smell, it was like an ordinary animal rescue centre, a mixture of animal and cleaning products.
"Now may I ask you first, how many are you looking to adopt today?" Mark
"I'm not too sure yet. I just want to have a look around to see what one feels right."
He nods like he understood and ticked something on the clipboard.
"What breed of hybrid would you prefer?" Mark
"I'm looking for something like a dog or a cat maybe."
He nods again and does a further two ticks and then smiles back at me holding the clipboard to his chest.
"Great if you'd like to follow me, I'll show you to the cats and dogs section." Mark
I nodded and followed him further down the hallway that was filled with cage doors on each side.
Further walking down until mark came to a stop and pointed at two cages.
"Right now we only have three hybrid dogs. Two females and one male." Mark
I looked at the two cages. There was two in one cage, cuddled up in animal form in their beds. They looked so cute together. I looked through to the other cage to find the other in animal form too, he was chewing on something that looked like a bone and didn't even bother looking my way.
All three were so cute but nothing clicked, nothing that I was hoping for.
"What about the cats?"
I asked mark now looking away from the dog hybrids.
"They're just over here. We've actually got a lot of them due to being unwanted and becoming strays. It's easier to cat hybrids to live on the streets so people like to just toss them aside." Mark
He takes a few steps to the side and points around the corner. He was right there was a few cages filled with cats, all of them in animal form of course.
I walked along the long line of cages filled with cats, all having about one to two cat in each cage but when I reached the cage on the far end it held seven.
"Excuse me but why is there seven in this cage but the rest of them have at least one or two inside?"
Mark leans over to the cage, and pressed up the glasses from his nose.
"Ah yes. These seven are like a package deal. We had trouble trying to separate them when we first brought them in. So who ever was to adopt one of them would also have to take on the remaining six." Mark
Aw they're all close, that's so cute!
I bent down to the cage and sat on my bum with my legs crossed and then sticking my finger through the holes.
"Miss I wouldn't do that, they can be quite violent." Mark
That's when I noticed the Red Cross on the side of the cage door. They didn't seem very dangerous.
A sudden wet yet rough sensation came to my finger still in the holds of the cage. There was this little cat, light coloured ginger with a cubby looking face. He was licking my finger quiet happily.

He was purring away while a black and white cat came over next to him watching my finger being licked and try to stick his paw out with no claws to pull at my hand.

I giggled at them both acting so adorable. A further two more cats came along, the fluffy beige and brown coloured cat pushed the light ginger cat away to sniff my finger before licking it himself.

Then hesitatingly looking up at me with his big blue eyes. The cat was so beautiful. A loud meow was heard and I found the fluffy grey and light coloured cat pushing its face against the cage, it's nose now sticking out while meowing away.

I didn't want to move my finger away from the other cat so I placed my other finger on my other hand to stick under his chin and rub him while he purred.
In the corner there was another cat, just watching silently, it was like he was frozen.

He didn't dare move while watching the others interact with me but just next to him was another cat but he was black. I almost didn't see him. He was curled up in the bed, sleeping peacefully.

Well that was until the black and white cat jumped on him causing the black cat to scatter away hissing at him. While the grey cat now watched the two other cats.
That's six cats so where's the seventh?
I scanned the cage while my fingers were still being licked and still stroking the other. Looking up in the cage there was a scratching post type thing that lead to a shelf above all of them.

There sat the last one, it was staring me down with his intense cat eyes. Like it was trying to see through me in some way but I smiled at it and it's eyes widen but then it turned away to jump down and sit next to the grey one.
I love these cats! They've all got their own personalities. I think they'd be great!
I removed my fingers but the grey fluffy one didn't like that and tried to grab my finger again with its paw but I giggled and stood up back next to Mark.
"That's weird." Mark
"I'm sorry?"
"Oh I mean. These seven never come close to the cage, they just sit back and watch. Plus they've never taken to people before. The last person that tried to touch one of them they all attacked." Mark
Well they didn't attack me.
"I'll adopt them please!"
I genuinely felt happy about my decision.
"Miss are you going to be able to handle seven of them?" Mark
He seemed unsure but I've never been so sure of something in my life. I know they're hybrids and with seven in the house that would mean plenty time, money and space. Which is everything I have.
I was left my parents house in their will when they died. Also I was left with a lot of life insurance money and savings that they had kept from me since I was born and not to mention I have plenty time since I only leave my house at least three times a week to check on my father's businesses that he founded.
"Yes I'm sure! I would like to adopt all of them!"
