Day eleven

[ Main Scripture : John 10:27]

"I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep."
  — John 10:11 (KJV)

 Jesus is the good Shepherd. Not just a random Shepherd, but the good Shepherd. A Shepherd is a pastor. Someone who feeds people with understanding and knowledge.

Then I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will lead you with knowledge and understanding.
Jeremiah 3:15 NIV

The blessing of Shepherds is that they come from God. A Shepherd is also known as a pastor. Not a pastor by title, but a pastor by function. Someone who feeds you with understanding and knowledge. Now God says He gives us  Shepherds after His own heart.

Lets now take a look at what Jesus does. The bible says, "the good Shepherd gives his life for the sheep." That's what the good Shepherd does. He sacrifices everything for us. He does everything for us.

"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:"
  — John 10:27 (KJV)

The characteristic of a good sheep of Jesus :
1. Hear the voice of Jesus.
2. Jesus knows us.
3. We follow Jesus.

So if we do not listen or hear the words of Jesus, it doesn't make us His sheep. Its very important to develop an ear that hears the voice of Jesus.

"And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand."
  — John 10:28 (KJV)

The next thing Jesus promises is eternal life. Just for being His sheep. And we can never perish nor be plucked out of His hands.

Prayer:  Father we thank you. We acknowledge you. Thank you for being the good Shepherd. Thank you for feeding us with knowledge and understanding. We bless your name. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ. We pray. Amen.
