Day 23

Peter, seeing him, said to Jesus, "But Lord, what about this man?" Jesus said to him, "If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you? You follow Me."
John 21:21‭-‬22 NKJV

To follow means to be in the same way as someone. Jesus asks us to walk in His footsteps. He leads the way and the only thing we are required to do is to follow.

Being a follower of Jesus is living life exactly the way Jesus lived. If you follow a famous artist and you want to be like them, you'll find yourself doing what they do.

He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.
I John 2:6 NKJV

If we say we live in Jesus, we have to do what Jesus did here on Earth. Jesus showed us a way of living here on Earth without compromising His faith.

The only way to follow somebody is if we are always looking in their direction. Looking away even for one second could cause us to walk in the wrong path.

looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Hebrews 12:2 NKJV

Looking unto Jesus. Why? Because He is author and finisher of our faith. He completes our walk. Whatever steps we make have already been made by our savior.

We can only follow someone to a place where they've already been themselves. Jesus is the perfect person to follow. If we follow Him long enough, we'll start to become more like Him.

Father, thank you for leading us and guiding us in a very wonderful study. We bless your name. May your name be blessed always as we seek you earnestly. Thank you for sending your precious Son. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
