IMAGINE YOURSELF...

Laying on your back. The summer rays beam down on you causing irritation yet a comfortable feeling to surge through you. Your eyes were closed and your hands tore loosely at the blades of grass that lie beneath you. The sun wasn't shining directly on you, you were under a tree. The tree's leaves blocked areas of you from the sun but, as the breeze swept through, certain parts of you were left open to the sun.

Why were you there, you ask?

Well, today wasn't just any other day. It was the day. It wasn't just another hot summer day. It was the day. It was the day that came around every year that brought you so much happiness, you thought you were gonna die. It was the day that made you smile from ear to ear, that made you burst into a fit of giggles for no reason, it was a day that you have never been apart of til now. You did participate every year before, but you weren't actually allowed to be apart of the main attraction until you came to a certain age.

You were now of that age.

"(Y/n)," a familiar voice called causing you to open your eyes. You sat up, not really wanting to, and heaved a long steady sigh.

"Yes?" You knew who the person was, you knew you were going to have this talk with said person some time, and you knew it was going to be awkward. This happened to every person that got to finally be apart of the tradition and every time someone told you about it, they'd tell you it would be the worst talk of f your life.

"Can we talk for a moment?" You're father's voice spilled with awkwardness and from the time that he had said it, you knew you were going to hate every moment of the conversation that was about to pass.

You looked down at your lap, unsure of what to say. You didn't want to have the talk, no way, but you didn't want to say no. You knew the talk was coming and you had avoided it all week so you knew he wouldn't give up this time. Now that you two were alone.

"Uh...sure?" You didn't sound too sure, though. You heard shuffling behind you and finally he sat right beside you. You didn't look up to face him. You knew that once you made eye contact, you would have to keep it the rest of the talk. No way, you were going to let that happen.

"So, (y/n)," Your dad sighed. "You've finally come of age to participate in the yearly choosing and I...well, this is weird but, I need to tell you something about it." You nodded for him to go on.

"Okay,"

"So, you already know that the yearly choosing is when a man chooses his wife, right? Oh, wait, you already knew. Anyway, so this year you may be chosen. I know you are a beautiful, young, smart, and great woman and that you are very likely to be chosen. But if you are not chosen, contrary to what people believe, you can be chosen next year. And, you know, your mother and I want you to be ad happy as possible so...oh, gosh, this is hard to ask. But, uh, have you've been doing anything with any man trying to get them to choose you?"

Your cheeks went scarlet red from the question he had just asked you. You knew he didn't think that, it's just a mandatory question that you have to ask your child when this time has come around. The reason why is because if anyone found out that you had been 'cheating' for a guy, you would be killed on the spot. No hesitations, just killed right then and there.

"O - of course not, dad," you stuttered.

"Good, now, uh, you do know that out family, well out women really, are known to bear a lot of children, right?" Your eyes went wide and your cheeks reddened again.

"Are you suggesting..."

"Yes, I am, you are going to have a lot of children. And to have a lot of children, you have to have lots of s-"

"No no no no!" You shouted while covering your ears. "You've already had that talk with me before, I don't want to hear it again." he sighed but chuckled.

"Alright, alright, I just want you to know what to expect."

Part 2 in next chapter?

I have a question.

Okay, so if a girl likes a guy, she has liked him for the whole school year without really knowing, and is now noticing it with two days of school left, what should she do? It's like a bad bad bad crush that will never leave and it takes over your life.
