The Books

"Here," I handed the scroll to Lady Tsunade. "Well done, Miu. How was the mission?" She asked. "It was fine. I'm sorry it took me a while." I apologized. "It's fine. Did anything happen on the mission?" Tsunade asked.

I shook my head, no. "Nothing happened." I lied. "I see... You're dismissed." She said. I gave a small bow and exited her office.

Tsunade's POV

"Is something wrong, Lady Tsunade?" Shizune asked. "No, it's nothing. It's just that... Did you see the expression on Miu's face? She looked a bit upset." I mentioned. "Yeah, she did seem a bit upset. Do you think something really did happen on Miu's mission?" She asked.

"I think something did happen and she's just hiding it." I said. Maybe it was a bad idea sending Miu on that mission. Seeing how she must've ran into Sasuke, her mind must be thinking about the past. About how happy she was with Sasuke in her life.

Miu's POV

I went back to my house and I was immediately greeted with loud commotion. "You can't catch me~!" I heard Kiki sing. "Sasori, grab her!" Isuke yelled. "She's too fast!" Sasori yelled back. I sighed.

"I'm home." I called, taking off my ninja shoes. I walked into the living room and saw the three of them. Kiki was on top of a high bookshelf while Isuke and Sasori were trying to get her down. "What's going on?" I asked.

"Kiki had sugar!" Kiki announced. "No, she didn't. She's just being annoying." Sasori said. "Kiki, get down from there before you hurt yourself." I said. "Catch me!" Kiki cheered before jumping towards me.

I caught her in my arms. "Annoying brat." Sasori said out loud. Kiki frowned and stuck her tongue out at him. I looked towards my desk, spotting three books. "What are those?" I asked. "Kiki put them there. She was looking over her books." Kiki said.

"Those are yours? I thought you had only one book; The Book of Darkness." I said. "Kiki did have that book, and she still does. While Kiki was waiting for Miu onee-chan to come get her, she retrieved two more books and practiced dark magic." She explained.

"May I see them?"

"Sure!"

I walked over to my desk with Kiki still in my arms and looked at each book. I spotted the Book of Darkness, then examined the other books.

"This one's the Book of Trickery." Kiki explained, pointing at the red book.

"I see." I said, understanding. "And this one is the Book of Death." She said, pointing at the dark one.

"Kiki, why did you pick these books? Where did you even find them?" I asked.

"Long ago, a few weeks after you left me, a couple of thugs were looking for jewels of anything worth value in the town of Shinaku. I didn't want them here, so I tried using the Book of Darkness to scare them away, but the book didn't have anything about that," She explained.

"The thugs started tearing down the buildings when they started getting impatient. So, I started to get scared. I went into my parents cellar to find anything that could help me." She continued.

"What was in your parents' cellar?" Isuke asked.

"The magic that they've been keeping from the people of Shinaku. My parents didn't want anyone to know about their magic business. Yes, they were into occult, but they used their magic for good, never evil. They made me promise to never speak of this anyone or else everyone would get the wrong idea. But anyway, I found these books way back in the bookshelf. I used the Book of Trickery to trick the thugs minds and make them think they were getting attack by monsters. To make a long story short, I sent those bad people running back to wherever they came from." Kiki said with a smile.

"That's good thinking, but please don't use that here." I requested.

"Can I use it on bad people?"

"Yes, but only bad people."

I went to open the Book of Trickery, but stopped. "May I?" I asked Kiki. "Sure." She said, granting me permission. I opened the book and looked at the different types of spells that was in here.

"There's a spell in here to make yourself invisible and one in here to make a dozen clones of yourself without the use of chakra." I said.

"Does Miu onee-chan want to try out a spell?" Kiki asked. "It's tempting, I won't lie to you. But I feel that I shouldn't." I answered. I closed the book and looked at the Book of Death. "Kiki, how does the Book of Death help you?" I asked her.

"The Book of Death can take life away or bring back someone from the dead." She explained. When I heard that last part, I instantly thought about bringing back Haku and the Third Hokage. "Is there a price of bringing back someone from the dead?" I asked Kiki.

"Not sure. Kiki hasn't looked at all the pages yet. So far, Kiki has only used the Book of Darkness to make stuff that she wants. Like this," Kik said a few words from the Book of Darkness and a crown apprared on her head.

"See? Pretty!" Kiki said, happily. "I say we read each book to look at the spells and see if there's a consequence to them." Sasori said. "Kiki agrees 100%!" Kiki announced.

"Hmm... What do you feel about this, Princess?" Isuke asked. "Please, please, please, please, please, Miu onee-chan?" Kiki pleaded. I thought about it before giving a nod. "Yay!" Kiki cheered, hugging me.

That night, Isuke, Sasori, Kiki, and I looked through the books, each of us trying out a spell while we were in the backyard. We've tried out a few spells, and so far, we haven't found any consequences to them.

I read a spell from the Book of Trickery and accidentally summoned... I think it's a ghost? Or maybe a shadow figure?

"What is that?" Isuke asked. "I have no idea." I answered. "That, Miu onee-chan, is your dark side. The side that lives in the deepest, darkest part of your heart. In other words, your desires." Kiki explained.

"A spell like that should be in the Book of Darkness, don't you think?" Sasori said. I didn't want to have any dark desires. I just wanted to be me. Just plain old, Miu Shimizu. The shadow figure stared at me before blinking its eyes.

"It's not doing anything." I said. "Maybe it's confused on what to do." Isuke said. I gasped when the ghost suddenly lunged at Kiki. She screamed as the shadow figure wrapped her hands around her neck, strangling her.

"Miu, do something!" Sasori yelled. I quickly grabbed the Book of Darkness and read the Dispersing Spell. "Egna Malna Egtulius!"

The shadow burst into black dust as Kiki sat up and coughed. I ran over to her to see if she was okay. "I'm so sorry, Kiki! Are you all right?" I asked in a panic. "Kiki is fine." She assured me. I hugged her tightly.

"I'm so sorry, Kiki. I didn't mean it." I said, crying a little. "It's not your fault, Miu." Sasori said, placing his hand on my shoulder from behind. "I think that's enough spells for today." Isuke said. "Agreed." All of us said at the same time.
