Epilogue
I gave in, I need to write an epilogue for this! It's not very long but I love it all the same.
---
"Jack! Kaden! Where are you!" Hiccup shouted above the trees. A small giggle from a nearby bush echoed throughout the forest. Hiccup rolled his eyes fondly and shifted the little girl on his hip.
"Honestly what are we going to do with them Astrid?" Hiccup muttered, nuzzling his daughter with his nose. Astrid shrieked with joy, her tiny fists grabbing at the braids in her father's hair.
Hiccup flew down and perched on a branch. "I can see you ya know. You're not very good at hiding."
"Aw come on Hic you are ruining our fun." Jack whined, appearing from behind the bush with a giddy five year old stuck to his back.
"Yeah dad you're ruining our fun." Kaden repeated, tripping on his words slightly. Hiccup gives his husband a pointed look as if to say 'this is your fault he's like this'. Jack shrugged, a mischievous smirk playing on his lips.
"Race you back!" Jack shot up into the night sky making Kaden squeal with joy. Hiccup sighed but raced after him anyway. It's not like he would willingly loose!
Two roars above them made the couple aware of their dragon's presence. Along with the three baby nightlights.
Astrid made grabby motions towards Toothless, so Hiccup set her down on the dragons back, pulling her close to his chest.
"Come on bud. We are not losing to them." Toothless gurgled in agreement and shot forward to their little hut. Moans of complaint was left behind and the two quickly arrived back home.
Five minutes later Jack burst through the door panting heavily. "No fair you cheated."
"Hey no one said anything about no dragons. I simply used my brain." He flicked jack's ear playfully, then pryed Kaden of his back scooping him into a cuddle.
"Now like I said two hours ago before you disappeared. It's bedtime." Kaden pouted, crossing his arms making Hiccup giggle. He looked so much like Jack when he grumped, especially the pouty face. It was like looking at an exact replica.
"Your dad's right. We can go and play more tomorrow." Jack said, tickling the underside of Kaden's chin. The little boy hummed already drifting of to sleep in his dad's arms. The two climbed the stairs headed to the kids room. Astrid was sound asleep in her cot, making adorable mewling noises.
Kaden wrapped himself tightly in his covers snoring as soon as his head hit the pillow.
The couple stood silent for a moment, gazing lovingly at their children, then at eachother.
"I love you Jack." Hiccup whispered, leaning back into Jack's shoulder.
"I love you too." Jack hummed.
The end
That is all for this story. I hope you liked it 🙂
