CHAPTER 10- Busted

Jake groaned as he moved.

Three days and he was still as sore as ever.

The first day he had been completely bedridden and even flinching would cause pain to erupt and engulf his body. Second day was pretty much the same thing. Today, he had made the effort to get out of bed, because it was boring.

He had been wandering around the pack house- exploring and avoiding bumping into people on the busy hallways. It was evening rush.

Kyle must have brought him here when he was unconscious. Jake opened a window. The forest looked appealing with the scent of leaves and fresh air wafting in the air. Maybe he'd go there instead.

Most of the pack house was surrounded by woods anyway. He had propped one leg up on the sill, ready to jump out, when he was tackled.Jake was flat on his back and felt a weight on his stomach and chest. The boy groaned and looked up into a pair of green eyes.

"Hi ya," the child sitting on him waved.

"Since when did you get so heavy?" Jake grunted.

The child pouted. "I'm not,"

"You're just feeling our total weight," another blonde head popped up leaning to the right.

They were both identical. Rounded, cute, innocent little faces, sparkling emerald eyes and high dimpled cheeks.
Danny and Patty. They were identical twins and part of the pack. They were sneaky and cunning- so usual nine year olds. "Would you please, get off me?" Jake gasped. "You're fat little butts are stopping my air flow,"

The twins gasped. "Meanie!" but obeyed.

"Why'd you two jump me?" He asked, sitting up.

"I don't know, I wanted to hug a fellow hybrid," one says wrapping her arms around him.

Jake lifted an eyebrow. The twins were half-werewolf and half-witch, so they were in a way. Rather they were really cross breeds between two different species. Hybrid was exclusive to someone who was part vampire, part werewolf. Someone produced from a werewolf and vampire. The twins pinned him down while he was distracted, deep in his own thoughts.

"What now?" Jake asked as they looked down at him.

"You're stupid," one said.

"Impulsive," the other twin joined in.

"Irresponsible- rude-"

"And a JERK!"

"Geez, thanks for the compliments," Jake said sarcasm rolling off him. "Now please get off!"

For some reason, he couldn't move. It was like a heavy weight was pressing down on him.

"However," the twins spoke in unison. "You are also kind and generous and helpful. Never let those qualities go. Remember this well. Many will try to use you and the darkness will come. Don't let it consume you. Follow you're own path and never loose track of yourself. Your journey will be horrendous, painful and may tear you apart,"

"Ok," Jake looked at them.
What the heck were they going on about? Why was everyone starting to sound like Luca?
And who were they calling stupid?

Danny and Patty let go of him.

"Alpha wants to see you," they spoke together again.

"Uh huh," Patty nodded.

Without warning, Jake lashed out grabbing the other one, tickling them mercilessly. The child laughed and screamed, squirming to escape.

Patty watched, mock horror written on the cute little face.

"Who's stupid now?" Jake grinned.

"Still......you!" Danny gasped between giggles.

"Oh really? How so?"

"Dude, we call it as we see it," Patty said, arms crossed.

"And we can only speak the truth," Danny panted, breathing heavily as Jake had stopped.

"Hey!" Jake said offended.

The child in his arms took this opportunity to escape, as Jake's grip had lessened.

"Catch us if you can!" They screamed giggling as they ran away.

Jake chuckled and chased after them. After twisting and ducking, taking sudden sharp turns, the twins finally stopped. Jake did as well.

"Wow! That was fun!" Patty giggled. "You're still it!"

"And our work here is done!" Danny finished.

"For what?" Jake asked. He looked around. " And what are we doing in the Alpha's quarters? How did you two get in here?"

"He sent us to get you," the twins said in sync.

"Wait, what?" Jake said.

Danny giggled. "See. You really are stupid. You process things too slowly,"

"Why you little- "

"Bye!" The twins grinned before disappearing in a flash of sparkles.

"Someone remind me to kill them later," Jake muttered to himself.

"To kill who?"

Jake jumped at the voice behind him and turned around. Kyle was there, casually leaning against a wall, expressionless.

"No one," Jake replied quickly.

His brother raised an eyebrow. "Follow me,"

Jake followed. "I'm in trouble, aren't I ?"

Kyle was way too quiet. Well he was quiet in general, but this kind of quiet felt like waves of anger were rolling off him.

Why was he alone with him? Why did the Alpha have an entire section of the pack house to himself! Leader benefits were so unfair.

He didn't reply, instead the Alpha opened a door.

Inside was his office. Neat, orderly with a large mahogany desk sitting in the middle of the room and a window to the left behind it. He pushed Jake inside before himself, closing the door behind him.

Jake knew he had to be in trouble. Kyle has brought him to his office- a soundproof, private office. He needed to get out. The lock in the door, clicked behind him and Kyle's footsteps followed. Well, that was one way to kill his hopes.

Jake looked around. Window- no. Door- no. Way out. Way out. None.

"Sit," Kyle ordered.

The boy groaned internally, but obeyed, sitting on a chair in front of the mahogany desk while Kyle took the office chair behind it. There was an intense silence as Kyle shuffled a few papers on his desk, pushing them to the side.

Jake shifted uncomfortably, still frantically looking around for an escape. His breathing became shallow, as his heart rate escalated.

His brother quietly observed him. "If you even try to escape, I will not hesitate to strap you to that chair,"

"Why is your blood boiling?" Axel popped up in the back of his mind.

"What?" Jake replied.

" You're having a panic attack,"

"What?"

"Calm down," His wolf growled cutting off their conversation.

A wave of calm washed over him. Jake took a deep breath as his heart rate regulated. He inhaled again, quietly evening out his breaths.

"Jake, are you on earth!" Kyle yelled suddenly.

The boy jumped. "What?"

The Alpha sighed. He had been talking for the past five minutes, while Jake had zoned out. Jake squirmed underneath his sibling intense stare and shook his head. Kyle examined him underneath his stare.

First, Jake started hyperventilating, like he was about to be killed, then he starts murmuring to himself and finally his eyes flashed blue, then he seemed to calm down. It was one of two things: either his wolf was communicating with him or there was something wrong mentally. Then again, staying with the demonic blood sucker would be enough to make anyone sick.

"Are you ok?" Kyle asked.

"Yeah," the boy cocked his head to one side. "Why?"

"Your grandmother recently died, you were just kidnapped and not to mention you have psychos after you. That's not exactly a little bit to digest,"

"Oh that," Jake said. "Yes,"

He flinched as Kyle stared at him, his hands folded beneath his chin.

"Don't forget almost getting our soul ripped out, dealing with a -"

Jake cut off Axel as he started to make a list of his own.

"But on second thought, I'm not! Please stop staring and examining me and judging my reactions! It's impolite and majorly creepy!" Jake stated.

"No," Kyle said simply. "Unless I was blind,"

"Oh really?" Jake smirked mischievously, summoning a dagger and an ice pick. "Is that a challenge?"

"Drop your weapons, it's not," the Alpha growled.

"Ugh fine! You always ruin my fun," Jake groaned, letting the weapons clatter to the floor.

"Fun that results in unnecessary blood shed. Now, do you know why you're here?"

"Because you wanted to tell me you love me, then let me go back to whatever I was doing," Jake said hopefully.

The elder male scoffed. "No,"

"A kid can dream."

"And you can start using your imagination to dream about what your punishment will be like with how hard your next training session will be," Kyle sighed.

"So, because I said I'm fine, I get a lecture? Can i retract my previous statement? You're going to enjoy this aren't you? Plus what did I do?" Jake hissed, watching his brother smirk.

"Is that even a question? Let's rewind to the previous weeks, shall we? It's only due to all of the stupidity that has popped up recently that I haven't said anything and the demonic blood sucker has let you adjust as well."

"What demonic blood sucker? Oh you mean Cassie?" Jake nodded in agreement before it struck him. "Hey I'm part blood sucker. I take offence to that!"

"You shouldn't you're half- werewolf," Kyle said apathetically. "It amazes me how fast you can jump to the blood sucker's defense. Do you also wish to return to that evil dark castle that reeks of death?"

He picked up a pen, twirling it in his fingers.

"I never said that!" Jake gave him an exasperated look. "You two have known each other for at least fourteen and a half years, I thought you'd at least learn to tolerate someone after knowing them a decade,"

"Did she tell you that?"

"Some of it. Only the year part."

Jake squirmed as Kyle's aura grew and got more intense.

"Okay, I get it, you hate each other, aren't we getting off topic here?" Jake said wryly. He hated putting himself back in hot water.

Kyle and Cassandra were more similar than they knew, despite wanting to rip each other's throats out, all the time.

"We really are straying from the issue here. The little incident with you and the police. What in the world were you thinking? That was stupid and reckless,"

"I had no choice!" Jake protested.

"You're a monster. What you're telling me you couldn't flash out of there or mentally attack them all or call for help?" Kyle continued.

Jake's hands balled into fists, and his lengthening fingernails dug into his palms as his anger grew. Keep your cool. Keep your cool.

"Or even hide?"

"Yeah, hide in a house swarming with cops," Jake murmured sarcastically.

But Kyle, had heard him. The pen he was holding, snapped in half. "I really don't get you sometimes Jake. What is so hard not in admitting that you did something reckless or you did something wrong? Do you have any idea what the repercussions could be? And you avoided using powers! W-"

The rage bubbled and grew until it exploded.

"I COULDN'T USE MY POWERS!" Jake screamed.

The room grew quiet and only Jake's heavy breathing could be heard as he tried to calm himself again. Jake didn't give a damn about anything right now about it. He was not going to sit there and and be lectured about a situation that was out of his control.

Sure, he may have almost revealed a bit about the monster world, but what was he supposed to do when he was powerless and had no means of contacting anyone! Hunters and their like would investigate any odd occurrences, no matter how slight to destroy supernatural, such as a body suddenly appearing and vanishing at a police station, the same way and no one noticing.

If they followed it through, he may have signed a death warrant for all supernatural and paranormal in the area.

"Explain," Kyle said coldly.

Jake could tell he was angry at him for screaming at him, but was there anything Kyle wasn't angry about today? He closed his eyes and inhaled before speaking.

"If I'm in shock or emotionally stressed, I can't use my powers- nothing at all. All I know is I end up in the house somehow, and I saw her, dead in a pool of blood while her scent permeated the air. Everything seemed to stop, then this cop found me. The first thing my my body did was on instinct to defend itself. I couldn't get out, because I was surrounded. Yes, I know I screwed up but what was I supposed to do! Do you think you could've done better?!" Jake gasped. "It was a last resort,"

"Hm, I think I've heard enough," a familiar voice says.

"So have I," Kyle agreed.

The monitor on his desk lit up.

Cassandra was there, on Skype.

Jake breathed out.

"That better not be relief, I'm hearing-" Cassie said.

"Because you're still in trouble," Kyle smirked, finishing her sentence. "But your punishment can wait till a next day. For now, your 'punishment' will be training- effective immediately. We're going to train until we can figure out how to sift through your emotions, until you learn the lines that can let you maintain control,"

"I'll make preparations on my end," Cassandra said before the call ended.

Jake groaned. He should have seen that coming.

* * *

Jake slammed his head against the desk in frustration - repeatedly. His punishment was the worst. He was in the middle of an exam, and if he failed, he could die, figuratively.

It was created by two sadistic, psychopaths- Kyle and Cassandra.

He liked to call it S.I.T.E- Sibling Intensive and Torturous Examination.
This was the theory part. Papers littered the desk, and he sat on a chair in front of it, which he was strapped to.

Kyle was scared he would try to escape. It wasn't unfounded. Jake had a tendency to disappear or make any problems he had do so.

This was his punishment, two separate exams from each of his siblings - one on his vampiric and werewolf 'heritages.' Which was annoying and a complete waste of his time.

Firstly, vampires and werewolves and their other S-ranked brethren constantly tried to kill him, the minute they got close enough to smell him. It may also be attributed to the fact that they couldn't accept the fact that a child could return a bucket of sass for each insult thy threw at him.

Secondly, most vampires were disgusting, snobbish racist and biased creatures who he despised with almost every fibre of his very soul and being. He was mixed with 'dog blood' and thus 'impure'.

Thirdly, all the previous reasons reasons were enough to cause him to not care!

Jake Freeman refused to go learn enthusiastically about species that hated his guts, unless that education gave him an edge in conquering his enemies and making them suffer. Not doing that was like getting burned by fire but still going back to it because you're curious. It's stupid and completely asinine!

They left a dark abyss in the corner of his mind and heart from they're coldness and discrimination, that was emotionless. He didn't care one bit anymore. Apathy was a rather easy pit too fall into when you got used to people's crap.

Why should he do this?

Yet he didn't have a choice.
Being stuck with doing something he didn't want to do or being faced with death.

Jake glared at the papers on his desk.

His hands were free but his abdomen was strapped to the chair.

He had tried several times to destroy it and failed miserably. And it was all because of those stupid papers, lying there, mocking him. Precautions were taken to make sure that he answered them. He was being timed as well. Three hours was all he had and two of those had already elapsed.

It wasn't like he could sit here the entire day.

What could he do?

Suddenly, a light bulb lit up in his head. He smirked evilly and picked up a pen, then got to work on the papers. In fifteen minutes, he was done. He pushed the forsaken things away and leaned back in the chair.

"I'm done!" Jake screamed. "Kyle! Kyle! Kyle! Kyle!"

The door opened and a male's head popped through. His blonde hair and dark brown eyes, were followed by his lean, tall muscular body. His green vest made sure to expose his rippling biceps.

"Gamma, what the heck are you doing?" Jake asked.

The third in command sighed. "Alpha sent me to check on you. Are you finished?"

"Duh, otter," Jake rolled his eyes.

"It's Otto," the Gamma growled, releasing the lock and chains around the boy's abdomen.

Jake then unstrapped himself and stood up, stretching with relief. He could've done that ages ago- if the restraints weren't cursed

"Every single question is filled out," Jake said as the Gamma picked up the two separate neatly stacked piles.

His eyes scanned through them quickly as Jake slowly inched towards the door. e nodded his approval- the signal that Jake could leave. Jake, although anxious, leisurely strolled towards the door.

Let's just hope he doesn't look too closely, Jake thought.

"He actually fell for it," his wolf said in disbelief while Axel was having a laughing fit.

The Gamma glanced down at the papers again before a look of surprise crossed his face. The first set were like this:

What are the different types of werewolves?
Ans- IDK

What is the name of your pack?
Ans- I don't know

The second set had similar answers just varied a bit, but all followed the same pattern:

Explain how the government is made and who is in charge within the vampire world.
Ans- I don't care, give me three reasons why I should and then maybe I'll consider answering.

What is the name for the vampire world?
Ans- How does any of this help me? I HATE most people there! The wolves are better.

How many realms are there?

Ans- Four within Gyges and the human realm exists for itself.

Otto groaned. "You've got to be kidding me! Why did he only put in effort for the last one?"

Jake smiled amused, quickly putting distance between himself and the S.I.T.E room.

He wondered what expression the adults (Cassandra and Kyle) would have when they saw it.

Then his laughter came up- a long cackle that had people peeking out their doors and scowling at or shushing him. He mumbled an apology before leaping out the nearest window as soon as the doors closed.

A/N thanks for your patience and reading! 3059 words.
