"Today I'm going to tell you the truth" 

Listening to his words I looked at him with wide eyes. My heart started beating fast as his words sank in me more. I don't know why but a bit of unknown fear was pumped into my heart making me more afraid to know the truth. All this time I was waiting to hear it but now I don't but it is making me fearful. My breath ragged as my chest heavier as if a heavyweight was kept on it. I started taking slow breaths with my fingers curly on my loose dress. I closed my eyes and braced myself. I waited for him to speak but instead, he turned me around. I kept looking down on the floor. 

My gaze was fixed and I didn't make any efforts to lift it and look into his eyes as I didn't know what was waiting for me. He put his finger under my chin and made me look up but still I kept my gaze low. I don't know what he was going to tell me but this was going to decide our future. The words from his mouth could break it or make it and this realization was making my heart heavy with each passing second. 

"Cupcake looks at me," he said in his soft voice while his thumb kept making lazy circles on my cheeks. I breathed deeply like bracing myself and lifted my eyelids to look at him. 

"Hey, ready I'm going to take you to meet someone," he said, looking straight into my eyes, making me confused. Whom is he going to take me to meet? Is that person going to tell me the truth? With furrowed brows, I looked at him after listening to his words. 

"All your questions will be answered and you will soon know with whom I'm taking you to meet. Now get dressed fast" he said with a small smile on his face. I nodded as I wanted to know everything eagerly and the only way was to get ready fast so we could go and meet this person so I could know the truth. My curiosity was increasing by the passing second to know who this person was. I got ready fast. 

I brushed my long hair and let them open cascading then on my shoulder in bouncy curves. Applying some lip tint I came out of the changing room to find Jack looking out of the window in his thoughts. Is he contemplating his decision to tell me the truth? Is he having second thoughts about everything? Nina stops making her own stories. My inner voice said in her annoyed voice making all the unwanted thoughts stop in my head. I took one deep breath to make myself relaxed. I caressed my baby bump letting my child know everything was fine. 

"Everything will be good my baby you don't worry," I said lovingly while tracing myself in the process. I looked at his back as he had still not sensed my presence in the room this deep he was lost in his thoughts. I cleared my throat to gain his attention and I was successful in getting it.  

"Let's go, I'm ready," I said as soon as our eyes met. His light brown eyes moved all over my body, making me shift from one leg to another under his unreadable gaze. I didn't have a bit of an idea of what he was thinking. What thoughts were running in his mind were making me curious and afraid at the same time. He walked towards me, taking my hand while making me look at him.  

"Let's go," he said with a small smile on his face, making me nod yes in response. We both walked down the stairs with our hands intertwined. 

He took special care while I was walking down the steps. He held my hand with so much grip as if he was afraid of even losing his grip on my hand even a bit. It only made me smile as it was his way of showing he cares more than he shows. Down we had our breakfast with the kids who were happy to us after a day of eating breakfast with them. Amelia kept asking me where we were yesterday. Her innocent questions only made me blush to make Jack grin at me and me glaring at him to wipe that proud look on his face. 

When he saw I was not able to answer little Amelia's question he took her in his lap and explained to her that he was yesterday treating my heart because it had missed him so much that it didn't stop crying. His words only made me look at him with wide eyes but to my surprise, he made Amelia understand it and in return, she asked him to always treat my heart. It only made Jack grin at me with mischief. I could see he had grown fond of Amelia. Who wouldn't! She is such an adorable child. After that, we left to meet the person Jack was taking me to meet. 

"Who are you taking me to meet with," I asked Jack in my impatient voice. 

"You will know it soon" was the only answer he gave me, making me more agitated than I was feeling. 

Soon after I found him driving on very familiar roads. I looked at him with surprised eyes as I knew where he was taking me but he didn't look back at me and continued driving. Now I had a complete idea of whom he was taking me to meet with. He parked his car near the tree and came out to open my side of the door. He helped me out of the car. Telling me to be careful of the slippery ground as it unseasonably rained yesterday while we were stripping our hearts to each other. We both walked to the familiar path with my hand tight in his arm. After a small walk, we were standing in front of the person with whom we came to meet. I looked at the tombstone of my sister's grave. It's been so long I came to meet her and my heart heaved with all the emotions. 

"Amelia seems I finally brought your sister and my wife with me today," Jack said, getting my attention. 

"You always said I have to work hard to get your stubborn sister and let me tell you what I did today. I brought her here to let you know I won my dear best friend. We won" he said in a small voice with a bittersweet smile on his face, making me look at him in confusion but with glassy eyes. 

"I kept my promise to you for so long but now I can't keep It anymore. It's the right time to break it because I know it will hurt you even more if I stayed quiet any longer so I'm sorry my friend," Jack said with the same emotions playing in his eyes with a bittersweet smile on his face like it pained him to talk with his best friend like this. I just kept looking at him. 

What is he talking about? What promise and what he is talking about staying quiet. Like sensing my confused gaze on him he looked at me. He turned and took my both hands in his. My cold hands warmed up a bit as soon as his warm hands touched mine.

"Nina Amelia signed our marriage pre-numb contract for you," he said, those words looking straight in my eyes, making my breath ragged even more. I could see the pain in his eyes made my heart sink to my stomach. 

"F--for me what are you t---talking about?" I shuttered while talking in confusion as he said those words and my vision started to become more blurry. 

"Government was ready to cease our Amelia foundation and it was getting difficult for us to get back to both the lawyers from our cooperation made a pre numb and drifted it to the government but they only agreed to valid it if both the company merges it as they didn't want to rise the lives If orphan as the sole owner your mom was dead. Even though my mom had rights to it, it was not enough to save it. But when you came to know about it you cried so much that you became sick. Even though it was named after Amelia you were the only active volunteer. She knew it meant so much to you as it was the last thing left by your mother and that's why she said yes to sign papers. She even knew I never had a feeling for her but only you even before I realized it. She always encouraged and warned me at the same time to take care of her lovely little sister. But the government's legal notice shattered everything. She never wanted me to marry her. She was not a bit happy with this union. Only for you with a heavy heart, but she also signed the papers because she couldn't see you like that. She signed only to fool government officers as long as possible but we both knew the truth that we couldn't run away from it. So crushing all her dreams she decided to do it just for you. Even on her deathbed, she took this promise from me never to let you know about this because she knew you won't be happy after listening to it. She didn't want to be a disappointment in your eyes because she lost her last chance to save the Amelia Foundation. She couldn't even do this much for her only sister" he said everything with a heavy heart with pain flashing in each word. I knew it was difficult for him to state it. 

"S--she signed those p--papers for me," I asked in the same shuttering voice. All his words sank in me. She did everything just for me. She was ready to let go of everything because she couldn't see me sick. 

"I never signed those papers because I couldn't gather the courage to do it every time I tried. I saw your face and I threw papers away thinking about trying to do it the next day only for you but that day never came. We were just trying to fool the government officials but at the same time Amelia met with an accident" he said, making my eyes wide in shock. He never signed papers. All the truth made all the doubt vanish from my head. And replace it with the greatness both people have in them. I found my legs became weak but Jack supported me. With his support, I looked at my sister who was resting in peace. 

"You could never disappoint me. You have done so many things for me without letting me know and I will always be grateful to you. You have always been and always been my best sister.  The only disappointment here is me. My stubbornness has ruined so many things but now I want to do everything right for you and us. I promise I will never let you down" I said in my heavy voice as tears trickled down from my cheeks. With this promise, I let all the hurt and all the pain drain out of my heart at my sister's grave. I felt like she was taking all my pain away even when she was not here anymore. Jack kept standing beside me as my firm support. They never stopped helping me.

So I won't let them down this time.
