11; I Run Away

Let's pretend, that I've moved on.
And I tell myself, that life goes on, without you.
Open my eyes, look deep inside.
I run away.

Two Years Later

Mackenzie drummed her fingers against the steering wheel and softly sung along to one of the rare pop songs she could stand that was playing on the radio as she drove down a deserted road on the outskirts of a small northern town.

It had been a hard two years as she went from town to town, tracking demons for information on Quinn. Unfortunately, she was no closer to finding her as she was when she first started, but she wasn't giving up. She was determined to save her sister- she was not going to let her down.

Several minutes later, she pulled the Jeep into a small dirt parking lot and came to a stop beside a brick building. Stepping out of the car, she grabbed her oversized shoulder bag from the passenger seat, then made her way toward the front of the building. She pushed the door open and stepped inside a homely, laid-back bar.

Glancing around, her eyes narrowed in anger when she saw the man she was looking for sitting at the bar nursing a beer. She quickly plastered on a fake smile before walking over toward him, then sat a few seats away from the dark-headed man.

"What can I get ya?" The bartender came to a stop in front of her.

"Whiskey and keep 'em coming," Mackenzie answered.

The bartender sat down a shot glass and filled it with the dark liquor. She grabbed the glass and tilted it back, drinking it all in one swallow.

"Again." She sat the empty shot glass down on the counter.

The bartender filled up the shot glass again, then walked away to help another customer. Mackenzie picked up the shot glass and stared at it, as if in deep thought until someone sat down on the bar stool beside her and spoke.

"Wow, I'm impressed."

"Excuse me?" Mackenzie turned her head to look at the man she had been searching for sitting beside her.

"I said, I'm impressed," he repeated. "Most girls get those little fruity drinks; you know, the ones with the tiny umbrellas, and stay away from the hard stuff."

"Yeah, well, hard life, hard stuff." She brought the glass up to her lips and drank all the liquor.

"My name's Raymond, by the way." He held out a hand for her to shake. "How about I buy you another shot?"

"Mackenzie, and buy away." She shook his hand.

"Beautiful name, but I guess I shouldn't be surprised," Raymond said with a cocky grin. "Beautiful girl, beautiful name, they go hand in hand."

"Thanks." Her eyes roamed over him as she bit her bottom lip to appear shy and innocent, then flashed him a dimpled smile. "You're not so bad yourself, Raymond."

He smirked at her comment, then flagged down the bartender to order them both a shot. He held up his glass and said, "Here's to a night we'll always remember."

"I agree." She chuckled before clicking her glass with his and downing the shot in one swallow. If the night went the way she planned, it would be a night he won't ever forget.

An hour and many drinks later, Mackenzie leaned toward Raymond and ran a finger up and down his arm, then flashed him a flirty smile. "Let's get out here and go to my place."

"Really?" Raymond asked.

"Mm-hm." Mackenzie nodded. "We're going to make this night memorable, right?"

"Right." He finished his drink.

"Plus..." she breathed out as she licked her lips. "There are so many things I want to do to you right now."

"Okay, lead the way." He stood up from the bar stool and motioned toward the door.

Raymond threw down some money on the counter to pay for their drinks while Mackenzie grabbed her bag and began to walk toward the door. He followed her to the side of the building where her Jeep was parked. They both hopped inside the vehicle before she pulled away from the bar and made her way back down the deserted road.

Thirty minutes later, she pulled into the garage of a nice fully furnished foreclosure house she had broken into a few days ago. She had been staying there while she had been tracking down a demon.

She got out of the car and walked into the house with Raymond following along behind her as they walked into the kitchen.

"Nice place." Raymond glanced around the simple kitchen.

"Thanks," Mackenzie said, before lying, "I'll be right back, my living room is a big mess."

"Okay." He watched her leave the room only to return several minutes later with a big smile on her face.

"Ugh, I need some water, my mouth is so dry," she said dramatically. "Do you want some?"

"Sure." He leaned back against the counter and wondered when they would get to all the fun.

She grabbed two empty glasses from beside the sink and walked over to the white refrigerator. After opening the door, she reached inside to grab a pitcher of water, then filled up the two glasses.

"Here you go." She held one of the glasses out to him, then held up hers. "Cheers."

He clinked his glass against hers, then took a big swallow of the water. Seconds later, he began to cough and tried to spit out the holy water.

Mackenzie smirked and dropped her glass into the sink, then grabbed a handgun from her bag which was sitting on the counter.

"You b-bitch," Raymond choked out as he bent over in pain.

She didn't say anything in return, instead, she hit him in the back of the head with the gun causing him to fall to the floor and blackout temporary. While he was out, she grabbed him by the legs and dragged him into the living room and over to where she had recently painted a devil's trap on the floor with a wooden chair sitting on top of it.

She used all of her strength to lift him up and sit him in the chair. She blew out a breath and brushed some hair from her sweaty forehead, then grabbed his arms and tied his hands behind his back. When she was done, she took a step back, careful to not mess up the semi-wet paint on the floor.

Taking another step back, she stared at the demon with her arms folded across her chest, waiting for him to wake up so the real fun can begin. She didn't have to wait long until he opened his eyes and raised his head to look at her. Seeing her stand in front of him, he began to laugh out loud.

"Well, well." He chuckled. "Here I thought I was playing you when really you were playing me."

"So you know who I am...good, then you must also know what I want," she said, glad to get to the real issue. She was in no mood to mess around.

"You know if you wanted to tie me up, all you had to do was ask. I don't mind a little rough sex, baby doll," he said with a cocky smile.

"Sorry, demons are not my thing." A disgusted look appeared on her face.

"Too bad." He clicked his tongue, then gave her an evil grin. "'Cause I know one Cole who does like demons and I always wanted a threesome with sisters."

Mackenzie tried not to let the comment bother her as she took a step toward him.

"Where is she?" she demanded to know.

"Who?" he asked innocently.

"You know who I'm talking about. Where the hell is my sister?"

"I don't know," he lied, before adding sarcastically, "It's hard to think with a knot on my head."

"You're going to have a lot more than a knot when I'm done with you." She took a few steps away from him and walked over to a table she had set up on the side with various weapons.

She ran her hand over several different knives, then lightly ran a finger over one of the sharp blades. Deciding it was the one she wanted to use- since it was the sharpest- she picked it up. She glanced over at him for a minute, then grabbed a bottle of holy water from the table. After pouring some on the knife blade to wet it, she set the bottle down then grabbed another bottle full of salt before pouring it on the damp blade.

"I'm only going to ask one more time..." She walked over to the demon. "Where is Quinn?"

Raymond shrugged his shoulders but said nothing. He was determined not to give anything away no matter what she did or said. He had seen first hand what happens to demons who talked to hunters.

"I know you know where she is." Mackenzie came to a stop in front of him. "Unfortunately for you, the last demon I tortured was more talkative than you." She pointed the knife at him. "Because of the last demon, I know you work for Azazel and I know you were the last one to be seen with Quinn...so where is she?"

"Sorry, beautiful, but I don't know what you're talking about," he lied.

She made a face and nodded her head, she had a feeling that was what his answer would be. In the beginning, most of the demons she questioned were easier to make squeal- they were lower on the totem pole, but as she got closer to the ones in Azazel's inner circle, the harder it was becoming to get them to talk. She had a way to remedy that though.

"Maybe this will jog your memory." She took a big step toward him and without pause, stabbed him in the leg with the knife.

"You fucking bitch!" Raymond hissed as saliva dripped out of his mouth while he breathed through the pain.

"That's right, I am a bitch! I'm the bitch that's going to fucking kill you, if you don't tell me where my sister is!" Mackenzie jerked the knife out, then leaned forward, her face only inches from his.

Raymond glanced down at the floor and smirked when he noticed she had stepped on some paint and broken the devil's trap. He began to move his hands around to get the rope off of his wrist. His smile grew wider when the rope loosened, then fell to the floor.

"I don't think you'll be killing anyone, baby doll." He chuckled, then stood up from the chair taking her by surprise and causing her to drop the knife.

Wrapping a hand around her throat, he moved them across the floor, crashing into the table and knocking all the weapons onto the floor. She let out a gasp when her body slammed into a wall and his grip tightened around her neck- it was getting harder to breathe and the more she tried to scratch at this hands to remove them, the more he began to laugh at her.

"Let's see, how should I kill you? Hmm? Should I choke you to death?" An evil grin appeared on his face. "Or I could just shoot you...like Azazel did to Papa Cole."

Mackenzie ignored his comment as she continued to fight against him, trying to force him to loosen the grip on her throat. She couldn't help but be pissed at herself for making such a stupid mistake walking on the paint. She knew she should have painted it earlier, but she was worried about missing Raymond. She had been tracking him for the last couple of months and kept barely missing him- she didn't want to miss him again.

Hearing a car door outside, Raymond quickly removed his hand, watching her fall to the ground. He ignored her as she coughed and began to gasp for air to walk over to the big picture window and peeked out the curtain. A curse word spilled from his lips when he saw a familiar black car parked in front of the house.

Glancing over to the brunette on the floor, he stated, "Guess you got lucky this time, but I'm sure I'll be seeing you again, beautiful."

As Raymond disappeared before her eyes, she slowly pulled herself up from the floor and stumbled across the room. She looked out the window and saw the same car he did- her reaction similar to his. It was the last car she had ever wanted to see.

"Damn it," she whispered to herself when she recognized one of the men walking toward the front door of the house.

Without a second thought, she fled into the kitchen, grabbed her bag off the counter as she ran past it. She thought about taking the Jeep but figured they would hear it, instead she flung the door open and ran out of the house, hoping to make a quick escape- because the last thing she wanted to do was deal with him.
