Chapter 8
"God dammit," you groaned, slipping on your coat as you paced back and forth; trying to find your shoes, "why did I have to keep an eye on him!? She should've brought him with her!!" You yelled into empty space as you finally found your shoes lodged into a little cubby behind other shoes. Google walked out as you struggled to pull them out.
"What?"
"Nothing," you huffed, finally pulling out the second shoe. "Did you get dressed?" You looked up, seeing that he still had no pants on. "Google!"
"What?" He repeated, looking down at himself, "get dressed?"
"Yes!" You bolted up, storming into his room and grabbing a random pair of jeans, "put these on!" You hurled the pants at him and it landed ontop of his head; covering his face.
"Okay." He replied calmly, taking them off his face. You groaned, watching as he slowly put on his pants; backwards.
"Um Google,"
He looked up at you, confused, "what?"
"That's backwards."
"It is?" He looked down again, "oh."
"oH MY GOD JUST PLEASE HURRY, WE DONT HAVE TIME!"
He blinked slowly, "okay."
You face palmed, groaning loudly as he took of his pants and put them back on the right way. You grabbed your keys and your phone, storming over towards the door. "Come on! Come on! We gotta find him before something bad happens!"

"What the hell?" You 'accidentally' slammed on the brakes, not realizing how close your foot was to the brake made you come to a sudden stop. Also to mention the fact that you almost ran a red light.
Google nearly smashed his head into the dash board- but he said nothing, looking over at you.
"What?"
"Wait so your saying that he's here?" You pointed towards the building to your right, it's dark looming figure slightly noticeable in the middle of the night with some street lights casting its shadow. Google nodded, double checking his tracker that caused his eyes to flicker blue a couple of times.
"Yes. That's where he is. I'm positive. We exchanged each other's serial code numbers the second we met."
You nodded slowly as the light turned green, allowing you to turn into the parking lot. You slowly pulled up towards the front, keeping your car on as you gazed up at the building.
"B-But this is the same building we went to to fix your hand... how could he be in here?"
Google merely shrugged, glancing down at the door before looking back up at you. "[Y/N]."
You flinched, realizing you haven't heard him say your name for a while now made yourself think that he might actually be human. The smooth tone of his voice made you think he had a beating heart just like you. But the glowing blue eyes that stared at you in the dimly lighted car made you think twice about that.
"Your safety is my top priority. At the moment, I feel as if something dangerous is in that building."
You gave him an odd look, looking at the glass doors at the Google building.
"Why's that? What is it?"
Google shook his head, "I don't know. My sensory file is acting up. I think there's other Google bots inside." His eyes flickered a dark red for a moment. Your hairs stood on end as his eyes flared a dark red; emitting a creepy vibe throughout the car. You blinked a couple of times, pressing yourself against your seat as he stayed quiet for a couple of moments. His dark red eyes slowly faded back to a dim blue color, soon becoming back to his normal brown eyes.
"G-Google?"
"It's safe." He suddenly blurred out. He opened the door, stepping out into the dark and walking up to the glass doors.
"W-Wait Google!" You unbuckled your seat belt, taking the keys out of the ignition and jumping out the car- following after him. "How do you know it's safe?"
"It's safe." He repeated, reaching for the door handle. But you stopped him from doing so, grabbing his wrist.
"Wait. What if there's an alarm?"
"It's safe." He looked up at you, his eyes slowly dimming back to a blue. But it was dark. As if there was no spark left in him.
"Google..." you mumbled, "what happened just now? Did you get a virus or something?" You suddenly become anxious, your heart began to pick up speed as he just continued to stare at you- his dark blue eyes boring holes into you.
"Lets find another way in-"
"Safe." He repeated, more sternly this time. He shook off your grasp on his wrist- grasping the handle and swinging the door open. You gasped, taking a step back to prepare yourself to run the minute you heard sirens. But surprisingly, nothing happened; just the sound of the eerie creak of the glass door. Google stepped in, walking into the dark store. You on the other hand; your heart was racing, your palms where sweating. You didn't feel safe anymore. Although Google kept telling you it was safe. Yet you didn't believe that was your Google anymore.
Regardless of all of the anxiety that built up in you, you took a step inside- quickly catching up to Google to have a presence with you in the dark. Treading alone in the dark was the last thing you wanted.
"Maybe there's a light switch." You mumbled, squinting your eyes as it slowly began to adjust to the darkness. You grabbed Googles arm, dragging him over to the wall and keeping a good grip on his arm. Not willing to let him go and wander around without you.
You grazed your hand against the wall for a couple of minutes before reaching a small bump in the wall. You flipped the switch; immediately- the lights blinked on. You closed your eyes, shielding them from the sudden bright flash. You rubbed your eyes and slowly opened them, looking around.
You nearly screamed. You stumbled backwards, clasping your hand over your own mouth to muffle your gasp. It was the prototypes. The creepy as hell prototypes that resembled humans to an unsettling level. They where all lined up, facing each other on the two sides of the wall. Making a aisle for you to walk down towards the desk. The hairs on your arms began to stand up again.
Something's not right.
"Google-"
"Safe." You redirected your attention towards him again; realizing he was already at the end of one of the rows of prototypes. He was behind it, clicking open a panel on the back of its neck.
"Google." Your voice trembled but it had a warning tone to it, "Google. What are you doing...?"
"safe."
He held his finger up, flicking it open to reveal a small hard drive where his finger tip used to be. Before you could reach him- he inserted the hard drive into the neck. You froze, the air felt still the minute it made contact. You held your breath, waiting for what's to come. Google slowly removed his finger, flicking back his finger tip to its original position.
"Google what did you-"
The minute you said google, the prototype flung its head up. It's eyes glowing red as it stared at you from across the room. "Yes?" Its voice was scrambled and low, as if he was talking on the phone with horrible reception. You opened your mouth to issue a command, but you quickly closed your mouth. Not daring to issue a command towards a random prototype. You looked over at Google who seemed to have been waiting for a command.
"G-Google. S-Shut down..." you tried to speak up but you couldn't help but shrink your voice down to a whisper. The prototype was so intimidating. It clearly looked like any other 20 to 30 year old male. But it's glowing red eyes said something different.
"I'm sorry. I couldn't understand what you said." Both Google and the prototype said, catching you off guard. You sucked in a quick breath, your mouth agape as you realized the Google you knew was now gone. Something happened while those men took Sean.
They corrupted your Google.
But now was not the time to panic, for you had other problems to worry about.
"Initiating code procedure zero-one-one-anti-zero." As soon as his words escaped his mouth, the rest of the prototypes lurched their heads up- their eyes flickering open as a bright red light shown through their lens.
You stumbled backwards, holding your breath for god knows how long now. All of the prototypes directed their attention towards you, the glowing red eyes staring right into your eyes.
"G-Google!" You suddenly yelled, not knowing what else to do, "Google! Please! Google!" You yelled over and over again, "it's me! [Y/N]! I'm your owner! You need to protect me! Google!"
Google just continued to stare at you, yet his red his slowly began to fade.
"Google-!"
"Take the subject." One of the prototypes from the left suddenly called out. Taking a step forward. You immediately knew what was happening. You turned on your heel, dashing for the door. But sadly, you grasped the handles- pulling them so hard you thought your arms would rip off. Yet the door stayed shut, clacking loudly with each pull you took. You glanced up and noticed a red dot on the side of the wall- realizing they locked the door the minute you stepped in side. You grunted, spinning around to see all of the prototypes lined up- Google standing in the middle.
"Apprehend the subject. Take them back to owner CC237." Another prototype called out. They all nodded, slowly marching towards you. You broke out into a cold sweat as you looked around to see what you could break open the glass door with. They where only about a yard away at this point- there foot steps in rhythm as they marched their way to apprehend you. You noticed a small stool in the corner of the room. You sprinted over towards it- grabbing the legs of it and hurling it towards the glass doors. You grunted and watched as the stool made impact with the door but it bounced off like a rubber ball- reverberating a loud metal noise before landing on the floor with a loud crash. You grit your teeth, tears welling in your eyes as the situation suddenly hit you. Your head spun as the gears turned in your head.
This wasn't just a game of tag. This wasn't just a little game of hide and seek to find your friends robot. This wasn't some story where you break doors like some mission impossible stunt and manage to get away without a scratch.
No. This was real. Every bit of it.
And you where in the middle of it.
