Chapter 10- Awkward Dining.
Stepping reluctantly into Brody's house, I look up to be greeted by two smiling faces. Must be Brody's parents. The woman is short, has bright blue eyes, and silky blonde hair. She's beautiful. And the man, who looks like a much older version of Brody,is quite tall, has dark brown hair, and brown eyes.
Yep. Brody's definitely a daddy's boy.
"Hello sweetheart," the woman begins, "You must be Natasha."
"Erm, yeah, that's me," I reply timidly.
"Brody's told us so much about you, in fact, he never stops talking about you," his mum says politely. I look over to my right to see Brody blushing as red as a tomato.
Ooh. Blushing eh.
Brain, can you please not?
"Oh, let the poor girl breath," Brody's dad says to his wife, effectively bringing me out of my thoughts.
"Do you see how they treat me Natasha?," she questions, wiping away an imaginary tear from her beautiful face, mocking hurt. I let out a laugh at her childishness.
She will get on well with my mom.
"Clearly I'm not wanted here, so I'll just be in the kitchen," she continues, before sauntering over to the kitchen. From the corner of my eye, I see Brody smile gratefully at his father, before mouthing a 'thank you'. In return, his dad nods at him, before giving him a thumbs up. He then proceeds to wink at him.
Huh? What was that all about?
I don't even think I wanna know.
"Okay, Brody, why don't you take Natasha into the living room, and watch some TV while we set the table," his dad suggests.
"Oh no, Mr Dallas, really it's fine, I can help you out if you want," I politely offer.
"No, no, no, you are our guest Natasha, we'll be fine," he tells me.
"Are you sure?," I ask.
"Yes, now Brody, take her inside please," he says to his son.
"Sure," Brody replies. He then takes my hand, and takes me to his living room.
As Brody takes a seat on the very comfortable looking couch, I stand there awkwardly, not knowing what to do.
Here's a suggestion. Sit down.
You again.
What do you mean. I'm you.
Just go away.
Sit down first.
No. I'm not going to make myself comfortable, as if it's my house.
Just........
"Hey Natasha, why are you standing? Come sit down," Brody's voice cuts off my conversation with my internal self.
"Ok," I reply, before taking a seat in the place next to him. Brody smiles at me, before switching on the TV, and scrolling through the channels. None of the channels were showing anything interesting, so we just settled on watching the news. Two minutes later, after the commercial, the news is back on, and the female reporter begins to read it out.
"Good evening, citizens of Westbrook, tonight on Fox News, we have an update for you, on the Midnight Murderer. Police have been investigating the most recent crime scene, the home of Timothy Green, and have found the very first lead, that could help them get to the bottom of this investigation, and catch the murderer once and for all. Evidence suggests that, during the murder of Timothy Green, there was not only one, but multiple people. The police have not yet released the official crime scene reports, so we do not know exactly how many other culprits there were. But , thanks to this latest lead, we can now confirm, that the Midnight Murderer is not working alone. This news has brought more danger than ever to the citizens of Westbrook. We urge the police to get to the Culprits as soon as possible, so that Westbrook can, once again, be a safe place. This is Melissa Hill reporting to you live from Fox Studios, goodbye and goodnight", she finishes.
There's more than one of them. Great. Just great.
"Well, that was interesting," Brody comments.
"Yeah, it really was," I answer back.
Brody sighs, and runs a hand through his perfectly styled hair, before saying, "I sincerely hope they get these people soon. I'm sick and tired of living in fear." I nod slowly, before agreeing with his words.
"Yeah, me too." We sit in silence for a few moments, before Brody's mom comes in, and breaks it.
Phew. That was starting to get really awkward.
"Dinner's ready," she tells us cheerfully. Me and Brody stand up, before he starts to make his way to the dining room, with me following closely behind.

"So Natasha, how are your grades?," Brody's mum asks me as I swallow a bite of my food.
"Mum!," Brody reprimands. She's about to say something, but I interrupt her. "No, no, it's fine, I don't mind. My grades are all straight A's, Mrs Dallas," I happily answer her previous query.
I'm very proud of my grades, nerd or not.
"Show off," Brody mutters from beside me. I kick him under the table, smiling while keeping my eyes on his mum the whole time.
"Ow!," Brody whines.
"What's wrong Brody, are you okay?," I ask him sweetly, faking innocence.
Sucks to be you.
He glares at me, and is about to speak, but his mother gets there before him.
"Oh, well that's excellent sweetie, your parents must be proud," she exclaims joyfully.
"Yea, they are," I reply sadly. Don't get me wrong, my mum is really proud of my grades, but my dad couldn't care less. He hasn't come to see us even once since he started his new family. I didn't hate him, I was just very disappointed in him. What kind of man starts a family, just to leave them in the end?
Erm, your dad?
Would you just get the hell out of my head!
I am your head. Idiot.
You little.......
"Natasha. Earth to planet Tasha," Brody says as he frantically waves his hands in front of my face.
"Huh, what?," I question him.
"You were zoning out. Are you ok?," Brody asks me worriedly.
"Oh yea, I'm fine, I just remembered something from when I was little. That's all," I smile at him reassuringly. He smiles back at me, before continuing with his meal. I pick up a piece of roast chicken, and put it in my mouth, just as Mrs Dallas asks me.
"So Natasha. Have you ever gotten pregnant before?" And with that, I strenuously start to choke on my food. Brody pats me on the back continuously, as he hands me a glass of water, and I gulp it all down in one go.
"Mum, what kind of question is that. Are you trying to kill her?," Brody scolds his mom.
"Well I'm sorry Natasha, but I just wanted to know what kind of girl my future daughter-in-law is," she replies apologetically. And then, I start choking on absolutely nothing. Brody pats my back, and I eventually calm down.
"Mum, we're just friends," he says to his mom.
"Yeah, just friends.....," His mom answers, but I can't help but notice the sarcasm in her tone.
"No seriously, we're just friends," I try to convince her.
"I never said you weren't," she answers. From the way she's looking at us, you can just tell she's clearly not buying this. She walks off into the kitchen, to retrieve the desert. And I'm sure I heard her mutter under her breath, "Sure. Just friends."
Well. I tried.
After Brody's mum had served us the desert, we had decided to watch a movie. Can you guess what film. Yeah. Apparently, the whole family love Star Wars. Overall, it was a really good night. I had a lot of fun. Apart from when Mrs Dallas asked me if I was ever pregnant. Wonder where that one came from. Brody's family seem so nice and loving, and I see where he gets all of his traits from.
And as much as I didn't want the night to end, it had to, and alas, it was time to go. I grab my shoes from the rack, and put them on. Standing up, I look to Mrs and Mrs Dallas kindly, before saying.
"I had so much fun tonight, thank you so much for inviting me. And Mrs Dallas, the food was delicious, your cooking is amazing. You have a gift."
"Thank you so much sweetie. And it's our pleasure, we enjoyed having you around, do come again and visit soon," she tells me happily, before pulling me into a bone crushing hug. Literally. She was crushing me. Nevertheless, I hugged her back. She pulled away after a minute, and kissed my forehead. I send them both one last wave, before Brody escorts me to the door.
Smiling brightly up at Brody, I wrap my hands around his neck, and pull him into a hug. He seems surprised for a few seconds and his body body tenses beneath my touch, until he finally relaxes as he hugs me back.
"Thank you for today," I whisper into his ear.
"You're welcome sweet cheeks," he replies, and I could just sense that he was smiling. After a few more seconds, I reluctantly pull away.
What? He was warm.
Yeah. Okay. Warm.
Get out of my head!
Like I said, I am your head!
"I'll drop you off," Brody offers, bringing me out of my trance.
We'll finish this later, brain.
"No, I'll walk," I tell him, politely rejecting his offer.
"But, it's late," Brody says.
Way to state the obvious. Genius.
"I know, but the weather is so nice, there's a lovely breeze. And besides, my house isn't too far from here," I assure him.
"Okay," he says.
"Bye Brody," I say as I turn on my heel, and begin to walk towards my house.
"Bye Tasha, walk safe," he shouts, before walking back inside the comfort of his house, and closing the door behind him.
***
Stepping out of the bathroom, I walk towards my drawer, grab my blow dryer, and plug it in. Then, I begin to dry my hair, while running my hands through it. Once I am done, I get changed into my pyjamas, and put my hair into a ponytail. Tiredly, I go to my bed, and get all snuggled up. I switch off the lights, and before I know it, I'm drifting away to sleep.
