The treacherous deal
Hey!!!! Skye is here and back for another update!!! So we are gonna have some Dagur x Skye action here and also some Heather action because I really like her character. Don't worry hiccup and the gang will be in the next one. I promise. I just want to expand a little bit between the characters. I feel like this book sucks... I feel like it's missing something so please if you have any thoughts please comment below. I hope you like this chapter. Until the next one! Peace.
"I'll think about it." Skye said crossing her arms.
Dagur rolled his eyes exclaiming, "You've said that already!!!! I should just kill you!!!!"
"Then you wouldn't be any closer to finding more information about dragons, would you?" Skye said before Dagur huffed.
"Stop playing treachery with me woman. You will see the wrath of Dagur!"
"Ooh I'm so scared." She spoke in a sarcastic tone, "Tell you what, I'll make you a deal."
Dagur looked at her baffled, "A deal?"
"I'll do it if you kill your sister." Skye said boldly, her irises darkening to an almost pitch black color.
Dagur looked at Heather who simply spit out her drink.
"What!!"
Dagur looked in between Heather and Skye. Heather was almost confident that he wouldn't take up her deal and drive for a better bargain.
"Deal. Guards! Sorry dear sister, she's a better bargain." Dagur said blowing a kiss to Skye who simply rejected anything he threw her way especially his vain affection.
"Stop." Skye exclaimed.
"That was a test. I can now critique this place on your low standards. First of all you never dispose of any ally's you have especially you're sister who is putting up with you. " Skye crossed her legs, "If anything she should be leading you."
"It's a job you should continue to think about Heather." Skye added.
Dagur punched the wall, "What!"
"I do like the sound of a promotion...." Heather wavered as Dagur looked in between the women.
"You can't just ignore you ruler!" Dagur said as the women still ignored him.
"Look Dagur, you need a sense of unity that you don't even have with your own family. My deal is this, I can do the best to repair your place here and take care of the dragons. I will not teach you anything about them until I see fit. If you aren't unified together then I won't teach you nada." Skye said now smirking.
"That's a stupid deal! I'm not going to take your bribery." Dagur said kicking his stool away.
"Fine. That's my only deal. Take it or leave it. Either way I don't care. Your decision is going to impact from your side of the cage outbound. It won't affect me. I'm still in chains." She did have a point. It wouldn't do any good to leave her there. She would be better off dead. Hmm.
"Oh and I'm not bribing you. I telling you. You see it as a bribe, I see it as a preposition to greatly help your poor management skills..." Skye crossed her legs before fake yawning.
Dagur seemed to have a little tantrum before frowning, "Guards! Open this dreaded cage."
Skye raised her brow, death isn't something that she feared. It brought her more thrill than anything.
"Release her from those chains."
Skye double blinked, "Smart choice."
Dagur simply eyed her, "I'm seeing benefits."
Heather rolled her eyes in disgust before Skye stated, "You won't be seeing them any longer if you keep complimenting."
Dagur gulped as Skye stated, "Ever seen a dagger get close to your eye Dagur?"
Dagur cleared his throat before regaining composure, "Well then... how rude....shall we get going?"
Heather simply replied with a nod. Heather looked at Dagur differently. He was going to kill her for the sake of having a stranger on board. Was Skye actually right? Had she chosen wrongly and therefore received less than what she had lost?
Suddenly the guards came in running, "Dagur! Dagur! There's a dragon on the loose! It's causing havoc."
"I got this." Heather stated.
Dagur rose his hand, "No. Why don't we have Miss Skye go out and do it. Let's see how extensive your knowledge really is."
Skye shrugged, "This'll be fun."
They followed the path of ash and bent metal. Indentions were along the walls. It was evident that this dragon didn't want to be here. Poor treatment usually lead to that. The guards heard loud noises the closer they got to the end of the hallway. Suddenly the door came flying towards them toppling Dagur and the guards. Heather and Skye smirked.
"Want to join me?" Skye said.
"No way, not after what you pulled." Heather said looking away.
"I just proved a fact. You're welcome." Skye said before adding, "Learn to be more appreciative."
Heather scoffed, "Excuse me!?!!"
When she turned around Skye was gone. Presumably with the dragons. A gronkle began storming around the cafeteria, using its tail as a deadly weapon. The guards tried attacking the dragon and yet the ended up losing to the dragon. The gronkle became more and more terrified. Its pupil in slits accompanying its aggravated state.
"Stop trying to attack the gronkle!" Skye exclaimed.
The gronkle simply eyed her and headed towards her in a defensive manor.
"I won't hurt you." Skye said holding out her hand, her palms white and sweaty.
"Oi, I said eyes on me." She said glaring at the gronkle.
The gronkle simply stared at her intensely. She held out her thumb and pinky and shook her hand slowly before clicking her tongue. The gronkle replied mimicking the noise. She clicked her tongue again.
"Down." She said, "Down now. Don't be afraid. They should be beaten up. I agree with you but they just don't know to treat you correctly. I do. Its ok. Its ok, you can trust me."
She set her hand on the snout of the gronkle. Her other hand then trailed to neck of the gronkle before scratching that very spot. The gronkle relaxed and laid down instantly feeling a tickling sensation.
"There there. Its ok."
The gronkle was patted and talked to.
"Stay here." She instructed the gronkle.
The gronkle however didn't listen as it followed her.
"You can come in now." Skye said as Dagur looked at the gronkle.
"This gronkle is aggravated by the way you've been treating her. Poor treatment doesn't mean obedience and forcing them doesn't either." Skye said patting it gingerly.
Unfortunately, the spot she had patted was sensitive and injured causing the gronkle to react. It took a swing towards the trio. Skye dodged moving to the side, while Heather ducked. Dagur however was flattened in between the wall and the gronkle tail.
"What did it do that!?! " Dagur said gasping.
"Its ok. Let me see." Skye said calming the gronkle.
"Its injured, receiving a blow to the upper right side of the neck. This gronkle needs medical attention. It could have infection." Skye ripped a sleeve off her shirt before lightly dabbing the area.
Heather took her to the dragon pens where she noticed the poor treatment these animals received. The food was garbage. The water dark colored and the pens were dirty. It was the most horrid storage Skye had ever seen. She grabbed a pebble and threw it at Dagur's head.
"You are an idiot! How do you think these animals are gonna thrive if they live in a dump!??"
"It's not a dump. I worked hard to out these together!" Dagur confessed.
"No you didn't. This is horrible. Would you like to live in here?" Skye questioned.
"He sorta does already..." Heather snickered.
"Heather!" Dagur scolded.
"Look, you gotta work with these animals correctly. So if you want my services, you're gonna have to clean out all your dragon pens." Skye said crossing her arms.
"Excuse me!?!? Me? Clean these pens? I don't think so. You can do it!" Dagur said.
"No I cannot. You see, I haven't eaten, had water, slept well, etc. And I just saved your butts from an angry and injured gronkle which I'll have to treat. So, either you treat the gronkle who could have an infection and I clean the pens or you clean the pens and I treat the gronkle. Take your pick." Skye said failing to see Dagur's expression.
"Woman, you cannot order me around!"
"Oh yes I can! Get of your lazy butt and do something for once!" Skye said.
Dagur simply looked at her, "Fine! I'll clean the pens. "
Dagur immediately called over some of his soldiers before Skye said, "Dagur, you said you were going to clean the pens. So you, alone, by yourself will do them. Heather and I are going to treat the gronkle."
"What!?!? By myself!?!?"
"Yes. Now if you'll excuse me." Skye left without saying anything much to Dagur's concern.
As Skye and Heather went to treat the gronkle, Dagur had a taste of his own medicine finding the "fruit of his own labor", especially after he stepped in his very first dragon droppings....
