Chapter 1: Recovery

Michael spent 3 years testing his new abilities.

He'd chop off his own arm. It'd grow back.

He'd stab himself through the heart. It'd grow back.

"Dad was right", he'd say to himself. The remnant injection had done its work, and he was now immortal.

Michael spent many nights lying awake. His mind kept drifting back to when he'd woken up after the injection.

He'd immediately bought the first ticket to the Americas to live with Henry after leaving his father.

When he arrived, Henry tried getting the police involved but Afton had snuck away. They couldn't find enough evidence to shut down Circus Baby's Entertainment and Rentals.

Henry tried putting Michael in therapy, but he avoided it. He had to find meaning in life if there was no death. He kept searching, only to find none.

Then the letter came.

Henry's suspicions had proven all but true when Afton's letter arrived in the mail. Michael didn't even want to see his father's handwriting and had Henry read it instead.

"'....Stay safe. Or don't. It's up to you.'", Henry dictated.

Michael smirked, "So he finally died."

Henry retorted, "His exact words were 'whenever I disappear'. That sounds more like he's in hiding. That doesn't explain why the letter took so long to arrive though."

"Maybe he's scared of being found out. This could be when we catch him, Henry."

"Orrrr it's a puzzle. I'd say the best thing to do is to follow his instructions. Get him to come to you, not the other way around."

Michael sat up, "You really think I should follow this craziness? He wants me to reconstitute my dead sister's soul in a metal mascot. Frankly, if you have not seen the endoskeletons, nobody wants to mess with those except the technicians. Everything is a wire. It looks like...muscle tissue almost."

"Don't be a wuss Michael," Henry jeered, "I'd do it, but he wants you to do it. Plus Elizabeth would recognize only you."

"We should just be getting him arrested."

"This will do that."

Michael stood up and grabbed his jacket from the coat rack, "Fine, I'll go get the book thing and bring it back here."

The trip back home worried Michael. How would the old house feel? Would he break down from trauma? He didn't sleep the entire flight.

After an anxious hour from the airport to his doorstep, he saw that the door was ajar. Most of the surrounding land had been repurposed for shopping centres, but this house had been labeled as an urban legend. Nobody dared tear it down because of the "curse" that would befall them.

Michael stepped in, and the first red flag was the unmanned Fredbear mascot lying in a sitting position on the couch. It just stared off into the distance. A small ringing noise could be heard.

Michael continued towards Tristen's old room. The ringing became louder and louder as he approached the center of the room.

Just then, a large mangled, twisted form charged through the doorway. Michael backed away instinctively in fear.

It was Bonnie, but not Bonnie. It looked like a nightmarish creature.

"These must have been the illusions Tristen had to endure," Michael said, remembering that he was not of much assistance with the Foxy mask either. He looked up and saw that the ringing was coming from a small black disk attached to the roof.

He removed it from the ceiling and broke it, causing the illusion to disappear.

"What a sick individual my father was."

He continued throughout the rest of the house, Elizabeth's old room, his own old room, and finally his father's room.

The "Photo Album" was resting on the bed. Michael grabbed it and rushed out of the house before any more disturbing occurrences happened.

When he returned to the Emily's house, Mrs. Emily opened the door for Michael.

"Henry's feeling a little under the weather," said Mrs. Emily, "I'd let him rest."

Michael quickly responded, "I have to get this to him so we can figure this out.", before running upstairs and meeting Henry in bed.

Henry looked up and saw him, "Hey Afton Jr! You got the book?" He coughed a bit.

"Yeah I got it Henry," Michael replied and handed the book to Henry, "What do you think he wants me to do with this?"

"Well," Henry scratched his beard, "It looks like he wants you to take more innocent lives. But this was before Tristen's untimely demise and his own disappearance."

"Well I'm not doing that."

"Fairly so, you still need to study this book and learn how your father did what he did. After that, save Elizabeth. I can't go with you because of this illness, but surely you can go alone. The current CEO of Afton Robotics should let you have a job at the rental place."

Michael sighed with contempt, "I'm assuming you know her."

"Heck yeah I do," Henry mentioned, "After your father went into hiding, I immediately made sure that until you were mentally stable, she'd take good care of the business. Her number's here." He handed Michael a business card.

"Well sure! Why wouldn't I want to give Afton Jr. a job?", exclaimed Liara.

Michael shook her hand wearily, "This place gives me bad memories."

Liara smiled, "Don't worry! We made sure that everything was safe and the bad stuff like child taking devices were removed."

"If only you knew...", Michael muttered.

Liara only continued smiling as she handed him his uniform and ID, "The staff pad in the elevator is a little glitchy, so be careful!"

Michael only shrugged and walked out of the office.
