Genetics and Breeding
When you start it doesn't matter if you choose what dragon to be or let a randomizer do it's thing, but genetics are a very important part of breeding. (Like any command game)
(If you'd like create your character through the Scrying Workshop on Flight Rising and use it's picture for your characters avatar on each chapter.)
The genes go like this:
Primary
Secondary
Tertiary
These are the first, second and third gene types.
We'll use this Ridgeback as an example.
Primary genes affect the overall body of the dragon.
(Ridgeback with the "Leopard" primary gene)
This doesn't just go for genes it goes for colours too!
(Ridgeback with "Orchid" primary colouring)
Secondary is the gene that affects the wings.
(Ridgeback with "Eye spots" secondary gene)
And lastly Tertiary effects the belly, or horns or basically anything else! (Some genes overlap other genes and go on the body as well and primaries do)
(Ridgeback with "Glimmer" tertiary gene) (Note: I randomized this dude and accidentally created Spyro I-)
Eye colours in Flight Rising's only purpose is to show what Flight theyre from. (A Flight is like a huge ass clan and they follow a specific god depending which one here born into. Don't get confused on actual warrior cat clans they exist except it's a group of any dragon species living together. I'll do a separate chapter for Flights)
(Ridgeback with "Light" coloured eyes.) (yellow)
Eyes can also change type like a gene.
(Ridgeback with "Dark Sclera" eye type.)
Now let's see it all together!
Beautiful ain't he?
Depending on your tastes some gene and colour match ups make hideous results. (But if it's your hatchling you have to deal with it LMAO-)
These colourings and genes can be passed down to your offspring.
Unfortunately I can't show very accurate results but there are plenty of sites that predict offspring like this.
Here's a rendition I did
Here's a baby female Ridgeback and she's carried over the Leopard gene and her scale colouring is similar to her father's. She also sneakily developed a Goat Eye type!
Things like this happening in these games will be really cool and exciting!
You are probably asking:
Can we crossbreed?
To answer that question canonically in FR yes... And no..
Dragons of any breed can become mates no problemo however, hybrids of those dragons don't exist.
I know it sounds lame and stupid but you can change that if you want in game and make art for the hybrid. (They dont do this on the site because the artist would have to draw a hybrid combination of like each breed and fit with each sex and that'd suck-)
Canonically offsprings come out like Disney babies, you know?
Casual three dad lookalikes and a mum lookalike baby. (Numbers may differ of course)
But again you can change that I'd you want to, the dragon hybrid that you make up may not have a pic like everyone else but you have creative writing liberties. 👀
