Varian Wrynn- Battle (a)

World Of Warcraft One Shot

Varian gave you the signal from across the battlefield and at your command, a whole platoon of troops rallied forward, charging into the unbridled mass of horde scum. You followed them closely, dodging axes, maces and whatever other weaponry these brutes decided to bring with them, for the most part they did put up a decent fight, but you were yet to meet one that did not fall to your blade. Screams of anguish and pain echoed throughout the field, from both sides of the battle as blood stained the vibrant grass and bodies littered the floor.

"You are not doing too bad." Varian jested as he ran through an onslaught of orcs and trolls, only to knock them all onto their backside, leaving them easy prey for your own forces.

"I could say the same thing about you." You replied whilst hacking through the progressing forces.

Between the both of you you must have managed to slay 50 of them over the next few minutes. Fireballs the size of houses flew across the battlefield, only to be met by the siege weapons ammunition, colliding in the air and sending a cascade of fire and stone onto everybody. Varian raised his shield to protect you both.

"It is always an honour fighting by your side y/n." He struggled to talk as the debris clashed against his shield and came close to knocking him off of his feet.

"I can only say the same Varian, I would say we must do this more often but... to be honest I just don't want to." Varian chuckled heartily. Looking over his shield you saw only a small amount of horde soldiers left, their final strongest warriors holding their ground over the masses of alliance forces.

"Another battle well won." Varian looked over the piles of dead soldiers.

"Good men..." Varian planted his knee into the blood-strewn ground and stuck his blade into the ground, you followed suit and you both took some time to respect the men from both sides, and the commitment they had made to their cause, regardless of whether the cause was correct or not.

"Regroup the troops once we've mopped up the rest of them, well do a sweep to count losses and collect tabards for their families, it's the least we can do for them."

After another brief pause of silence and overlooking the sunset you turned to Varian.

"Do you ever think we're going to win this way?" Varian laughed weekly and raised his view towards the sun.

"One day."
