Dewey Riley- Flowers (c)

Scream One Shot

The mug on your desk was now cold, stained from the second round of coffee you had filled it with to attempt to fuel you through your morning work. You had been to your first meeting of the day with a fake smile and notebook filled with nothing more than doodles, to try and make it look like you had written down something important, when you had actually barely listened to anything anyone else had said. You had since returned to your desk to try and get up to date on your work before you had to head into the meeting room after lunch to put on the same performance.

You couldn't help but glance towards the bottom right corner of your computer monitor hoping that time had somehow sped up even though you were far too aware that barely sixty seconds had passed. Times like this you missed being out in the pit of colleagues to give you a distraction of spending time chatting, but you were grateful for the promotion that had brought you the hefty raise and your own office- or glorified broom closet, if you judged it by the size. Your mind kept wandering from the work at hand, leaving you relieved when a knock came to your door.

"Come in," you called, shuffling in your seat, to try and hide the fact that you had begun to slouch.

One of your colleagues peaked her head around the door.

"Sorry to bother you," she said. "But a cop is here asking for you."

"A cop?" You queried. "Let him in."

At first you were confused but as soon as you saw the deputy enter your office, it all made sense. Deputy Dewey Riley walked into your office as your colleague closed the door behind him, leaving him stood there with a nervous smile and a bunch of flowers in his hand.

"Dewey, what are you doing here?" You smiled warmly, standing up from your seat and walking around your desk.

"I was just passing and I thought I wanted to bring you something," he smiled awkwardly, avoiding your eye, rather looking down at the flowers in his hand.

"You didn't have to do that," you said. "But thank you, I do really appreciate it."

You had only been dating Dewey for a couple of months but even in that time you weren't surprised by genuinely sweet actions as he did them often and often made you feel special.

Dewey handed you the flowers. You leant up on your tiptoes to press your lips to his cheek, grateful for his kind gesture.

"H-how is work?" He asked.

"Better now that you're here," you grinned. "You know that you're too sweet, right?"

He shrugged his shoulders. "I try."
