"What do you mean I did...?"

"Hyung, you have powers~!"

Jaemin squealed, cupping my face with excitement.

"Really?! What is it?!

"I'm not letting a peep leave my lips~. It'd be best if you found out for yourself~"

"Enough talk! We gotta get ready ASAP!"

Mark interrupted, dragging us both out of the room.

I just hope Nana is right...

30 Minutes Later

"EvErYoNe, GeT yOuR aSsEs To ThE pEnThOuSe AsAp¡"

Mark yelled at the top of his lungs through the speakers.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm already at the penthouse, both prepared and shaking in my boots.

"Oh, and hURRY THE FUCK UP¡ That will be all~!"

Mark yelled once again, sending our eardrums on a highway to heaven.

"Do you have to yell so damn loud? I thought one of my spirits was yelling at me again!"

Donghyuck hissed, ruffling his messy bed hair.

"Sorry Donghyuckie~, but I know you're a heavy sleeper. I had no choice"

"WhAt AbOuT tHe ReSt Of Us?! I wAs In ThE mIdDlE oF mY mEdItAtIoN!"

Jeno exclaimed, nearly killing us all with his sudden smoke bomb appearance.

"ThAtS nOt As BaD aS yOu AlMoSt MuRdErInG uS eVeRyTiMe YoU eNtEr A rOoM¡"

Chenle suddenly shrieked, appearing out of nowhere.

"So, are all of you just going sit here and bicker, or are you actually going on this mission?"

Our caregiver suddenly appeared, holding a mysterious box.

"What's in the box hyung?"

"Masks, to hide your identities, since Chenle almost squandered it last time"

"I wanted to see if I could communicate with that squirrel!"

Chenle exclaimed, looking quite offended.

"Either way, they're specially made for all of you"

He motioned for us to gather around to receive our masks.

He even told us what each of them does!

First, Jisung. His mask transforms along with him when his body becomes liquid.

Next, Chenle. His mask shapeshifts along with him, and disappears when he turns invisible.

Jaemin's teleports along with him, increases his ability to use his telescopic vision, and increases his ability to see clearly in the dark.

Donghyuck's doesn't disintegrate whenever he uses his pyrokinesis or over powered omni-magic.

Jeno's powers can't really harm his mask, but he likes the look of it because it reminds him of the clan he was once trained by.

Mark's doesn't freeze up or break when he uses his cyrokinesis, and it transforms with him when his body becomes smoke.

And lastly, my mask. It really doesn't do anything since I don't have powers, but I really love foxes, so it's a perfect fit for me.

Our Caregiver wears a mask too. But since I don't know what his powers are, and since he's not very talkative, I don't quite know if it suits him.

I don't really know anything about him, none of us do. For all we know, he could be one of the bad guys, but with everything he's done for us, it can't be.

Now I know I said we get paid, but that doesn't necessarily mean humans see us. Our Caregiver is the one that retrieves the money for us, since he's been the only one to wear a mask up to now.

Now you may be thinking, how do humans not see the others fight their battles? I used to wonder the same thing. Mark uses his unplottable magic to conceal their appearance on Earth, kinda like how no one can see Yato or any other god or regalia.

It's kinda cool. But sometimes I wonder, what if there's humans like Hiyori, that can see us...?

On Earth

Jaemin teleported us to Earth. We were in a forest, most certainly at night. Thankfully, he didn't teleport us too close to the monster.

"Jaemin, can you see it yet?"

Jeno asked, already summoning his weapons.

"Yeah, up ahead. It's heading towards the city, but it's still pretty far"

"What does it look like?"

Chenle asked, resting on my shoulder.

He had shapeshifted into an owl, possibly to blend into the night. Some are nocturnal after all.

"The hell? It's a giant bird. Some type of owl. Fuck that thing is huge!"

"Gonna need more intel Nana...."

Mark sighed, unamused.

"Fine. It's about six feet tall, small head but a large body, very large wingspan. It's hard for me to tell how long the wings are, and holy mother of Hotteok...it's eyes are all glowy and red!"

"Also bad news..."

"And what would that be?"

"It sees us, and it's coming fast..."

Everyone looked around cautiously, except for Jeno.

He had his eyes closed, probably trying to focus on pinpointing the beast's aura. He must've found it, because his eyes abruptly shot open.

"Z, WATCH YOUR RIGHT!"

Jeno exclaimed, blocking the beast's attack at me with his Buster Sword.

It's a replica of Cloud's buster from Final Fantasy. I helped him make it, but I never thought he'd actually use it...

Jeno then struck the beast's talons with two shurikens, as to keep it in place. He pushed me into Jisung, as to keep me away from the beast.

"So what are you gonna name this one Jisung?"

"Spiritwings~"

"Fair enough"

"来る, 大鎌!"

Donghyuck yelled, extending his hand outward.

"The hell did he say? I don't speak Japanese"

Mark asked, looking quite puzzled.

"He said, 'Come, Scythe!'"

I translated, and sure enough, a scythe appeared in his hands.

I helped him with his weapon too! I didn't think he'd use it either...

"Mark, freeze it up for me so I can finish it off!"

Donghyuck ordered, to which Mark obeyed, freezing the beast.

But before Donghyuck could hit it, the beast unthawed itself. It knocked both Mark and Donghyuck against a tree, knocking them both unconscious.

"Chenle!"

"Got it!"

Chenle could already tell what Jeno wanted him to do, and shapeshifted into the form of the beast.

"Isn't that a little risky?!"

Jisung asked in a surprised, yet angered tone.

"That thing could brainwash him while he's in that form if it thinks he's an ally!"

Upon hearing that, Chenle grabbed the monster's shoulder with his beak, and swung it away from us.

"Well that's out of the question"

Chenle said, changing back out of that form.

"Just grab my hand so we can go invisible and get outta here"

He insisted.

I couldn't help but feel we were making a mistake though.

"Hey guys, not to alarm you but..., it can still see us"

It seemed Jaemin's warning was a little too late, as my suspicions were correct. Because it was a mistake; the beast knocked all the others away, except for me.

Donghyuck and Mark can't help since they're unconscious, Jisung can't help since there's no liquids in this area, Chenle's arm is broken, and Jaemin doesn't have offense type powers.

Jeno was able to swiftly get to me though.

"金剛封鎖!"

Jeno yelled with much annoyance.

'Adamantine Sealing Chains'

Jeno sealed the beast within golden chains, like it was nothing.

"Hyung, take the others and go!"

I would've agreed, if the beast hadn't looked directly into my eyes.

I would've moved, if I wasn't scared to death.

"Huang....Renjun"

The beast actually....SPOKE?!

"HoLy ShIt! It CaN tAlK!"

Jisung exclaimed in shock.

"Huang Renjun.......give him....TO ME!"

The beast broke free of Jeno's chains, and swung him away too. It must've been harder than the others, because I don't think Jeno coughing up blood is a good thing. It all happened so fast, I don't think even Jeno expected it.

Jisung ran over to him to try to wake him up, as the beast got closer to me.

I could hear Jisung scolding the others telepathically to try and help me, but there was nothing they could do.

I just slowly backed away into a tree as I started to cry. Why is this thing after me?!

"Master..."

Wait, what?

"Did that thing just call him....Master?!"

Chenle asked, just as appalled as I was.

I couldn't think straight as I was scared out of my mind. The beast got even closer and closer, until it just stopped. Kinda like in those nightmares where the monsters just stop and then-

"YOU'RE MINE!"

Charges...

It started to half fly-half charge towards me, screeching higher than Chenle's battle cries.

"STAY BACK!"

I shouted closing my eyes, as I hit the creature, most likely in its face.

Wait. I actually hit it?!

I didn't dare to open my eyes, just incase it was right in front of me, ready to suck the remaining bit of my soul left out of my body, the other part of my soul leaving me behind in fear.

It wasn't until I opened my eyes, due to the beast screeching again, but it was a screech of fear and pain this time. The beast was disintegrating. More like decomposing, no, decaying... You get the point...

But...did I do that??

The beast's feathers and overall body was decaying, leaving nothing but bones behind. It started panicking and started to thrash about all over the ground.

Before it completely disintegrated, it started to crawl back to me.

It stopped in front of me and looked at me, but this time, not out of hate and anger, but out of sadness and confusion.

"Mas...ter, why...?"

Why what?

I wanted to ask that, but it completely disintegrated and its bones just collapsed in front of me, leaving me confused and in shock.

"Well, it looks like my vision was right"

"What do you mean?"

"Explain hyung"

Jisung and Chenle questioned Jaemin's sudden words.

Only I knew what he meant, apart from Mark, but he's still unconscious.

"I had a precognitive dream earlier. None of us could beat that thing, except for Renjun-hyung. He was the only one who could beat it. Not only that, but he gained one of his powers in the process~"

Jisung and Chenle looked at me in shock, while I just looked down at my hands.

What the hell is this power, and what if I end up hurting the others with it too....?
