Time is a wonderful thing

It sifts through memories

to dull the pain

Keeps the beautiful bits

intact

And sheds what remain

Heals scars

Paints the dark with light

Past winters take on hues

of a lazy summer rain

Yes, time is a funny thing

It puts together our brokenness

into kaleidoscopic patterns

Compelling us to retain

Selectively

Only the rapturous moments

It is destiny's trick, preordained

We hurt, we break,

We disintegrate

Yet, we dare to fall in love

all over again.
