Hobi, Taehyung, and Jungkook were the only three without plans on their day off of work. Everyone else had made prior commitments.  

"I'm bored hyung," Jungkook complained to Hobi. Hobi agreed, he too was a bit bored.

"Is there anything you'd want to do today? And Taehyung?" Hobi asked the maknae. Taehyung was currently taking a shower. Jungkook walked to the window and looked outside. The weather was beautiful. No clouds in the sky, a bright sunny day in the middle of July.

"We could go to the beach!" Jungkook mentioned excitedly turning back to his hyung, "I'm sure Taehyungie would enjoy that too."

"Aish...you know I don't swim..." Hobi sighed. He hated water and didn't know how to swim. He only ever swam in pools, if he absolutely needed to like for certain Run BTS episodes but even then he'd stay in the shallow end. However, he didn't mind the idea of grabbing a snack and eating it while the other two went and played in the water. "But I guess we can go if Tae wants to."

"If Tae wants to what?" Taehyung asked as he made his way down the hall still drying off his hair with a towel.

"Hyung! What do you say we all go to the beach today?" Jungkook asked expectantly.

"You couldn't have suggested that before I just went and took a shower?" Taehyung asked sarcastically.

"No," Jungkook smiled. Taehyung agreed it'd be fun, but made sure Hobi didn't mind because he knew how much Hobi hated water. Especially the ocean.

"Nah it's fine, as long as you two have fun, I'll have fun," Hobi smiled. He loved hanging out with the maknae's so figured it'd be a fun time. He mentioned that the two younger ones should bring their boogy boards.

"Oh yeah! So we can ride the waves!" Taehyung chuckled, "I don't know where they are though."

"I'm pretty sure Jin put them in his closet," Hobi mentioned. Jungkook and Taehyung ran to check and found their boogy boards to bring to the beach. They thought about packing lunches but Hobi said he was really craving takeout so suggested they stop somewhere along the way. They texted the group chat that they'd be at the beach for the day.

The three headed out and stopped at a small burger place to grab some food to go. When they got to the beach, it was surprisingly completely empty. Taehyung wondered if it was supposed to be closed today but after looking online it seemed to be open.

"More ocean for us!" Jungkook laughed. They got out of the car and headed down to a nice smooth spot in the sand. They watched the waves for a bit.

"Damn..isn't this a bit much? The waves seem bigger than normal today," Hobi mentioned.

"That'll make it more fun," Taehyung replied. They sat and watched the waves while eating some of their food. They couldn't figure out why nobody was at the beach on such a beautiful day but they sure weren't complaining. Taehyung and Jungkook sat around for a few minutes before picking up their boogy boards and heading for the water.

"Just don't go out too far, we all know I'm no lifeguard," Hobi laughed.

"We will be fine hyung, you're always so paranoid," Jungkook teased.

"Ocean water is scary. I don't know how people enjoy it. You don't know what's out there!" Hobi yelled in defense.

"Water and fishies," Taehyung chimed in.

"And giant whales that eat Hobi-hyungs!" Jungkook teased his hyung again.

"Aish..these two.." Hobi mumbled to himself. He watched as Taehyung and Jungkook dove into the water and paddled out a bit on their boards. Jungkook was a much stronger swimmer than Taehyung, he was the strongest swimmer in the group, so he paddled out a bit further than Taehyung did. The two enjoyed time riding on some of the waves. While they were out they did notice the waves seemed bigger and more forceful than they were usually used to. They weren't sure why. They started having competitions to see who could ride their boards the longest. Jungkook won. Taehyung was getting a bit worn out so he paddled a little more inland where the waves weren't being so brutal. Jungkook stayed a bit further out.

From where Hobi was watching them he noticed that the waves seemed to be getting bigger and bigger and it was making him nervous how far out Jungkook had been. He walked up to the edge of the water and started yelling for Jungkook to come in more but the sound of the waves was much louder than him. Jungkook couldn't hear him. Thankfully Taehyung was in the middle of the two.

"Tae!" Hobi yelled.

"Huh?!"

"Tell Kookie to come in more!"

"Huh?!" Taehyung also had a hard time hearing over the sound of the waves crashing around him. Hobi pointed to Jungkook, "Tell Kookie to come in more!" Hobi yelled.

Taehyung gave his hyung a thumbs up and turned in Jungkook's direction, "Hey! Hyung said to come closer!"

"What?!" Jungkook screamed. He had no idea what Taehyung was saying but when he looked at Hobi he saw his hyung gesturing for him to come in closer.

"Hyung said to come in more!" Taehyung screamed at the top of his lungs. Jungkook gave a thumbs up and started paddling forward when he got knocked underwater by a giant rolling wave. Taehyung and Hobi both flinched. Thankfully their maknae popped back up quickly and seemed okay. Jungkook tried paddling in more but he felt like he was only going backwards and he didn't understand why. It seemed like the more he kicked the further away he was getting. Hobi was getting irritated because he could see that Jungkook wasn't getting closer. He yelled for Taehyung to yell at Jungkook again.

"I am trying!" Jungkook screamed back. He too was getting nervous. Why am I not going in?!

Although the waves were rolling forward, he felt like currents below the water were going in the complete opposite direction. Hobi and Taehyung were watching him and realized he was struggling. Taehyung turned to Hobi, "He needs help!"

Hobi's anxiety picked up. If Jungkook needed help then Taehyung was the only one who could do it considering he himself couldn't swim, but Taehyung wasn't the strongest swimmer either. If Jungkook was already struggling, Taehyung didn't stand a chance. Hobi didn't know what to do.

"I...tell him to swim harder I don't know!" Hobi screamed. Taehyung turned to Jungkook, he could tell the younger was absolutely exhausted. He decided his maknae needed help and quickly. He started swimming out towards Jungkook.

"Hyung don't!" Jungkook cried. He knew the waves were way too big for his hyung. "I can do it!" he yelled. Just then, a huge wave came and it knocked Jungkook off the boogy board and sent him tumbling underwater again.

"Kookie!!" Taehyung screamed and tried swimming faster but trying to swim against the waves was proving extremely difficult for him. Jungkook popped back up having a coughing fit. He tried to stay above the water and realized he had no idea where the board went. It was gone. Jungkook was getting increasingly terrified now. He was already so exhausted and now he had nothing to keep him above the waves but himself.

Hobi was having a nervous breakdown at the shore. He was pacing back and forth while pulling on his hair. He felt absolutely useless. He knew he sure as hell couldn't help Jungkook who was clearly in distress at this point. He also worried for Taehyung. It was bad enough one of his dongsaengs was out there struggling, but if it became both of them, then what? He needed Taehyung to save Jungkook but if Taehyung couldn't do it he had nobody to save both of them. He considered calling for help but wanted to put his faith in Taehyung that everything would be okay. Grab him, Tae. Grab him.

Jungkook used all his energy to stay above the water but the waves were becoming relentless. He could see Taehyung trying to reach him but could tell the waves were keeping him back. He didn't understand why the waves were dragging him one way and dragging Taehyung another. Another wave came down and slammed him under again. He felt his body roll beneath the water and this one sent him so far deep he felt like it was crushing him. This was when he completely panicked. He frantically tried swimming up to break the surface of the water again and sucked in air. He heard Taehyung and Hobi both screaming for him. He started coughing again and before he could even get a steady breath again he was being slammed back under the water. The next time he came back up he started screaming, "Help!"

"I'm coming!! Jungkookie I'm coming!!" Taehyung cried. He was in tears at this point. He's drowning. He's going to drown. Save him Taehyung! Save your maknae!!

Jungkook kept getting slammed under the waves before he even had time to think. He was getting lightheaded from the lack of oxygen every time he was shoved under the waves. They had gotten so bad that he couldn't break the surface. Every time he tried to swim up another wave sunk him even lower. He tried his best to hold his breath but it was making his head and chest explode in pain. He felt his heart racing wondering if this was how he was going to die. And then what about Taehyung? What if Taehyung gets thrown from his board too? Although he was the one struggling his mind was still worried for Taehyung.

"Kookie! Jungkookie!" Taehyung screamed. Jungkook was nowhere in sight. The waves were rolling in front of him and his maknae wasn't coming back up. Taehyung was a mess of tears as he screamed and frantically searched around for Jungkook.

"Where is he?!" Hobi cried from shore.

"I don't know!" Taehyung cried. Hobi realized this situation was worse than he thought and he decided it was time to call 911. He called while panicking on the phone telling them that his little brothers were stuck in waves and they were drowning. "Please you have to hurry! You have to hurry!" Hobi cried to the operator.

Jungkook was flailing under the water. This is it. I'm going to die here.

A bunch of memories flooded his head as he tried to hold his breath for as long as he could. His body gave up. He was too exhausted and reflexively he sucked in a big breath. A big breath of ocean water which he then started choking on. He couldn't breathe and everything hurt. He had no idea where Taehyung was anymore. He didn't even know where he was anymore. He was losing consciousness surprisingly quick and the last thought he had was I'm sorry before everything went black.

"No no no! Maknae where are you?!" Taehyung was trying to search everywhere. Jungkook had been underwater for way too long at this point, he was well aware of that. He knew his maknae could hold his breath for a long time but not this long, and not in this kind of water. He felt his own body starting to give out while he searched but the fear of losing Jungkook was keeping his adrenaline pumping. He didn't care if he was tired. That was the least of his concerns. He was determined to either save his maknae or die trying. He saw Hobi panicking on the phone and figured he was calling for help. He held onto his board with one hand and ducked under a wave, stretching out his arm to try and feel around. To his surprise, he caught something being thrashed around in the wave. He wrapped his hand around it and realized it was Jungkook's wrist.

Oh my God. Oh no. Oh no.

He pulled up a lifeless Jungkook out of the water. "No no no ! Maknae! Kookie please wake up!" Taehyung screamed. "Hobi! Hobi!"

Hobi turned to them and saw Jungkook was unconcious. He panicked even more into the phone. Taehyung threw Jungkook's limp body onto his board and tried doing CPR right then and there but it was impossible. "Okay, you'll be okay I promise!!" Taehyung screamed. He frantically started paddling with his feet back towards shore. Luckily now the waves where he was were actually helping push him back towards the shore. In Godspeed he made it and quickly dragged Jungkook's body out of the water. Hobi ran to them and Hobi immediately started pumping Jungkook's chest while Taehyung worked to give him rescue breaths.

"I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry," Taehyung cried between each breath.

Hobi tried shaking Jungkook, "Please wake up. Please wake up!" he begged. He went back to pumping his chest. The two continued for what felt like forever, ignoring eachothers sobs as they worked together to save their youngest. Hobi wondered where the hell the ambulance was because they needed help and they needed it immediately.

What felt like forever went by, when in reality it had only been a couple seconds, when they heard sirens coming. The ambulance was soon there and took over for Taehyung and Hobi. They sat next to Jungkook holding his hands as they sobbed .

"Please don't let him die," Hobi cried. "He's our baby he can't die."

Paramedics had him hooked up to machines and started using a defibrillator on him after CPR didn't seem to be working. Hobi and Taehyung felt like they were living in the same nightmare at the same time. Unfortunately this wasn't one they'd simply be waking up from. A beeping sound started and a paramedic said they had a pulse and they immediately started loading Jungkook into the ambulance.

"A pulse? Is he going to be okay? He'll make it right?! He's going to be okay right?!" Taehyung cried after the paramedic. They told him they'd do the best they could and said to follow in their car behind the ambulance.

Hobi and Taehyung were a mess in the car as they sped behind the ambulance on the way to the hospital. Taehyung kept saying he was sorry over and over again for not saving Jungkook in time and Hobi kept having to reassure through his own tears that if it weren't for Taehyung their maknae would already be dead. His own guilt was eating him alive when he thought about how all he could do was stand there and watch. He'd never felt like more of a failure in his life.

When they got to the hospital they were informed that Jungkook lost his pulse again in the ambulance but they were able to get it back and stabilize it a bit. Their maknae wasn't out of danger yet and Hobi and Taehyung were nothing short of still absolutely terrified. They were too much of sobbing messes to call the other members so someone from the hospital called them. The rest of the members arrived within minutes and ran to the two crying in the waiting room, embracing them in tight hugs. They were all crying.

"I'm s...s...sorry.." Taehyung cried into Jin's chest, "I tried to save him." Jin rubbed his back. He didn't know what to say. They were informed Jungkook had drowned and was resuscitated twice and currently becoming more stable but other than that they had no idea how it all happened. Hobi and Taehyung were too inconsolable to really say much so everyone just hugged eachother in tears.

After a while everyone calmed down and Hobi was finally able to discuss what went wrong. Taehyung and Hobi kept apologizing but the members couldn't fathom why they'd be sorry. They knew Hobi couldn't swim and they didn't want him to feel guilty about it, and if anything Taehyung saved Jungkook, they didn't understand why he kept saying he "tried" to.

"You did save him, Tae," Jimin whispered while rubbing Taehyungs back.

"He could still die," Taehyung cried.

"He won't," Yoongi said sternly. The last thing he wanted to hear from anyone was that Jungkook was going to die. He told himself over and over again in his head that their maknae would be just fine.

Hours went by and the only update was that their maknae was still appearing to be stable and breathing but he needed an oxygen machine. He hadn't woken up yet and they wouldn't be allowed to see him until he did. They sat in that waiting room for two days before finally being told Jungkook had woken up and was breathing on his own and he could have visitors now.

The members sprinted into his room and Taehyung and Hobi dove right on top of him embracing him in a hug and they both planted kisses all over his face. Jungkook clutched his chest, it was still pretty sore.

"You're alive. Our baby is alive!" Hobi cried tears of joy. Taehyung dropped his head into Jungkook's neck and started sobbing all over again about how he was so sorry for not saving him in time.

"You did," Jungkook whispered. The maknae's voice was raspy and it was clear he was still exhausted and in pain, "I'm alive." Jungkook honestly couldn't believe it. The last thing he remembered was not even knowing where Taehyung was, he didn't understand how his hyung had somehow grabbed him quickly enough for him to be revived. He was eternally grateful to his hyungs. Both of them. He knew Hobi had called for help quickly enough for them to also arrive in time to save his life. He'd be dead if it weren't for the both of them.

"How are you feeling?" Yoongi asked while rubbing Jungkook's arm. Jungkook shrugged. He really wasn't sure. He was scared yet relieved. His body hurt. What happened didn't feel real.

Jimin mentioned not asking Jungkook questions so he could rest. The maknae quickly fell back asleep. Hobi started talking to the others about how this entire experience made him decide he was going to start taking swimming lessons, "Just incase."

The members thought it was brave of him, but acknowledged that hopefully this never happened again.

When Jungkook woke back up his hyungs were still by his side, they had refused to leave him. Taehyung was curled up next to him in the bed and had him wrapped in his arms. Taehyung was warm, it made him feel comfortable. Jungkook started thanking his two hyungs again for saving his life and how he owed them. They told him he didn't owe them a thing.

Things had really calmed down and some medicine Jungkook had been hooked up to for the past few days was making his body start to feel better. They were all told Jungkook would be able to head home that night and they were all extremely grateful. Taehyung and Hobi cried tears of joy again. They both knew how real it was that they were very close to never bringing their maknae home again and they didn't even want to ponder the alternative outcome to what had happened. The members all huddled around Jungkook as they left. They were all feeling extremely protective. He seemed a little weak walking to the car but the doctor said he would gain his strength back quickly. Namjoon asked Jungkook if there was anything he'd like to do before heading home. He wanted to lift his worried hyungs moods and told them, "Maybe something that doesn't involve water." He chuckled. They decided to go out for pizza. Hobi mentioned him wanting to start swim lessons and the maknae thought it was a cool idea.

"Although, I don't really want to go swimming for a while," Jungkook mentioned. Or possibly ever again.

The members agreed that none of them wanted to be around water anytime soon. Taehyung couldn't have agreed more. They got to the pizza place and while talking and eating the members soaked in the fact that their maknae was alive.

And laughing. They beamed with joy knowing he was going to be okay.
