The Labrador
Her name was Emma but the people in the white coats had tried to name her Princess.
She scoffed and pace around her small living area, the door to the outside was locked but would be opened after a few hours.
Emma was a Labrador, she was meant to be a family pet, she growled at the thought.
It was surprising she could think, all the noise that happened around her. Dogs or should she say people whining and barking for escape.
Noise seemed to vanish as the coated people walked in though,
they walked down the rows of people who were all equally terrified. One man landed to Emma's cage and squatted to observe her.
"Hello Princess."
Emma growled, she wanted to yell her real name to the man but she had sadly undergone the vocal surgery to have them replaced.
"It's not nice to growl, you're a good dog, you love kids and give them all kisses and love."
He opened her cage and went in to pet her, Emma's tail went between her legs as she bared her teeth and growled to worn the heartless human in front of her.
"Now, now." He got to close. She snapped him, a hiss of pain came from the mans teeth as he began to kick her in the stomach.
Emma yelped and when he locked her cage she coughed and tried to breath. No matter how many beatings, she would not submit, she would not be treated like some stupid animal who didn't understand anything.
Next to her cage was another lab only brown, his name was Tom. he was young and all he did was whimper.
He and Emma had become close since they were 'neighbors' only something was off with him, Emma could feel it.
"Emma," He spoke, he had not gone through the surgery yet all though he was fully transformed,
Emma came close and did the best she could to put her nose through the bars and whimper to him. She reared back when he began coughing blood,
"Emma, I'm dying." She whimpered and tilted her ears up and down, he was to young to have undergone all the treatments, his body was finally giving out, it was only a matter of time before it happened.
He moved and she flinched as she heard the bones of his redesigned legs crack and break beneath him.
"Don't forget your name Emma, never give in." And with that they whisked him away not wanting him to get other animals sick.
She sighed, the poor boy, to innocent for this place. She turned and nuzzled into a blanket on the floor, she already knew she wouldn't be getting fed after biting the coated man so all she could do was sleep and wait for more things to fall her way.
