"I-I..."

You raised a shaking hand to the blue spear that stuck out from your rib cage. Blood was beginning to fall to the ground, attracting the attention of nearby monsters. Sans himself had gone still at the sight.

Your attention was diverted to a lone monster that stood in the distance, his cold eyes gazing upon you. A knowing smirk crept up the corners of his mouth. "You know who I am," the voice came out as a whisper. You instinctively took a step back to find that your soul had parted from your lifeless body.

Bile rose in your throat at the horrific sight of monsters eagerly drinking up the pills of blood. "Come with me," the voice continued, causing chills to rack up your spine.

"I can't..." you murmured, rubbing an invisible hand over your messy [H/C] hair. "I have to help them..."

"There is nothing for you here," the voice snapped. You jumped back in fear to see a mich taller version of Sans looming over you. A single glowing blue eye glared harshly at you. A black hood was pulled over his skull, part of a much longer black robe that seemed to dissolve into shadow at his feet. "You have suffered the same fate as many humans have in this timeline. You died and now you must come with me."

"I won't!" you sneered and got to your feet, narrowing your eyes at him. "I still have work to do."

"So do I," he replied grimly and swept his hand to indicate your surroundings. "This timeline is full of souls that need to be collected. Now come with me willingly..." He unfashioned a long blue scythe from his back. "Or I'll tear you into pieces."

You ducked just in time to avoid the sharpened end of the scythe from removing your head from your neck. You flashed him a taunting smile and aimed a fist at his skull. You were caught by surprise that he did not avoid the punch. Searing hot pain flashed through the contact point and you collapsed to the ground, tears welling in the corners of your eyes.

"Most of them are fighters," he gave a long sigh and placed the tip of the scythe to the base of your neck.

A few minutes passed without any change. "Just kill me!" you spat.

He shook the scythe a few times and then placed it back at the base of your neck. "Curious..." he murmured and placed the weapon back into its holster. "It seems that you are neither alive or dead. You are nothing."

Anger threatened to consume you. You gave him a hand gesture and began to put as much distance from him as you could. "That's not a very wise thing to do!" he called. You lifted your head and continued onwards.

You cast a glance behind your shoulder to notice that the demented version of Sans had disappeared. You gave a sign of relief and were caught by surprise as you almost collided with him. "You can't just walk away from death sweetheart," he flashed you a sadistic grin. You began to retrace your steps, only for him to materialize once more in front of you.

"You can't claim my soul," you realized with a smirk. "There are others like me who have lived beyond their death, haven't they?!"

His eyes flashed at the mention of your advantage over him. He refused to look at you and fiddled with his scythe. "If that's what you want," he swiped his hand upwards, creating a portal, "then so be it."

Before he could disappear, you grabbed him by the hood. "I never caught your name," you said.

"Death doesn't have a name," he mumbled.

You narrowed your eyes and began to analyze him. "I think I'm going to call you Reaper."

A wide smile stretched across Reaper's face, a glint of humor in his eyesockets. "That's a bit GRIM," he chuckled and vanished.

You smirked and stared at the ground, knowing this would not be the last time you saw him. "What are you going to do now?" the familiar demonic voice chided from behind you.

"With death comes misery," you sighed and let your gaze fall upon Chara. She was much smaller than you, though her black eyes betrayed the fact she was once ever a human child capable of emotion.

"You will continue," she demanded, two buttons flashing in front of you. "And don't think about resetting. You'll only return to the very beginning and not to a new timeline."

"Maybe I want to reset," you spat and reached your hand to the reset button, defiance sparking from within you. Sharp pain rocketed up your spine and you stumbled blindly.

"I may not have power you do to reset and continue, but I do have methods of persuasion," Chara said, a knowing grin spreading across her face.

"Whatever," you grumbled and slammed your hand onto the 'Continue' button.

The first thing that registered in your mind was pain. It was inferior compared to the pain Chara had induced, but this was not far off. A mermaid looking creature - Shyren - was happily chomping away at your right leg. You let out an inhuman shriek and placed a finger to the monster's temple, causing it to erupt into ash.

Curiosity flowed through you at the magic you possessed but you began to attack the wave of monsters that now surged towards you. Many were beginning to change into much larger versions of themselves, eager to begin eating away at you as the Shryen had.

"Not today," you hissed and interlocked your fingers together, creating a brilliant beam of white energy. You slowly maneuvered the beam around you, careful to avoid Sans who remained still a few feet away. The battle was over as quickly as it had come, the forest floor covered in dust.

You placed three fingers to your injured leg and watched in amazement as the skin closed over it. There were no signs of scarring.

The first thing you registered was the massive amount of fatigue washing over you.

The second thing that registered in your mind before you slipped into darkness was that Sans was beginning to change shape.
