Oh Fine
Firefly would consider herself a relatively nice dragon. She isn't picky when making new friends and won't mind being one of yours if you're not the rude or bratty type. She'll love hanging out with you and making you laugh... unless you make her mad.
Granted, whenever Firefly gets ticked off, she would oftenly just make some sarcastic, sassy, and offensive remarks that'll put you back in your place. But if she's really angry, she'll become 10 times more terrifying than the infamous Sandwing sisters, Burn and Blister. Some would even say she's scarier than her own mother.
Firefly would go all out into making you feel extremely uncomfortable and begging for forgiveness. Some of her favourite tactics were the 'silent' technique, the 'constant death glare' technique, and the 'get ready to kill' technique.
Tonight, she decided to use all three, making Mire regret wanting to give the fuming dragonet a pep talk.
"So..." she tried to sound calm as usual. "Do you want to talk through some stuff ?"
Firefly shook her head slowly while sharpening her claws with a triangular piece of stone. It definitely made her seem very menacing.
Mire sighed, knowing fully well that a dragon as stubborn as Firefly won't give up until she gets what she wants. "Why don't we plan our next moves then ? You wanted to go back to rainforest right away, correct ?"
Firefly lift an eyeridge.
"Let's say we did," Mire continued. "We fly for perhaps 5 hours in the dark where we could possibly get lost or bump into Gaia herself. If we do arrive safely in the rainforest, though, we'd all be too exhausted to go looking for Queen Glory. And when we do find her, what would we even do then ? We'd be too weak to defend ourselves, let alone you, Lychee, and your mother."
Firefly just kept glaring at her more sensible friend, still sharoening her claws. What she was saying made sense, but Firefly refused to show that she was starting to agree with the everyone else.
"But," Mire went on, "If we recharge our energy for the night and leave first thing tomorrow, we'd have a better chance of actually getting things done. How does that sound ?"
Firefly hated conversations like these. The ones that make her feel weak and like a 1-year-old dragonet who wanted candy but got a speech about how sugar is bad for your fangs instead.
Firefly didn't hate the plan, though. They had been traveling across Phrryia without stopping to rest. And now that she thought about it, since Gaia was only a Mudwing-Rainwing hybrid, she probably didn't have night vision and would need to hold off her murderous plans until the next day. That can work to our advantage..
"Fine," Firefly said, lifting her chin up. "But I-"
She was cut off by a loud thump from amogst the trees behind her.
Firefly whipped her head to the direction it came from, dropping the stone she had been holding and forgetting completely what she was about to say. What she saw was Mirage's dizzy head poking out of the bushes on the forest floor.
"Aaargghh.." he groaned, holding his forehead with his talon. "Sorry.."
Another groan was heard from the bushes. This time, it was Scarp.
"Why am I always the victim of your dumb pranks ?" he wheezed out. His whole figure was enveloped by the ferns and shrubs, but Firefly could tell that a few bruises had most likely formed on his scales.
"That wasn't one of my pranks," Mirage said, getting off the poor Skywing. He looked up and was met by a giant hole in the canopy, an incredibly worried Lychee, and a grinning Fangspapper. "Really ?"
The sly Nightwing snickered. "Couldn't help it."
"EHM !" Mire cleared her throat. "What exactly were you doing in the treetops ?"
"Uh.. spying on you guys ?" Scarp said, shoulders stuck in an awkward shrug. That didn't sound like the absolute best answer in the whole wide world
"Are you all here ?" Firefly asked. She really had no right to judge her friends, to be honest. She did do the exact same thing back in Jade Mountain.
As if on cue, five other heads appeared from the hole in the trees.
"Great !" Mire surprisingly exclaimed. "That means we don't have to explain the plan all over again. Let's go sleep ! Every minute counts !"
Without a word, the dragonets took off and headed for the cave. All except Firefly and Lychee. (You probably thought it was Mirage, huh ?)
The finally peachy pink Rainwing walked on the forest floor with Firefly, trying to cheer her cousin up.
"You know.. I've been thinking.." she mused. "Once this is all over, I might try to go to Sanctuary and break into Winter's scavenger jail."
"I can't imagine you doing such a thing," Firefly commented, an actual smile on her snout. Well, it was more of an amused smirk.
"I know, I know," Lychee said. "Maybe I can ask someone to help me ? Ooh ! How about you ?"
Firefly cringed at thought of her, the heir to the Rainforest Kingdom throne, breaking an entering and freeing all the scavengers in Sanctuary. What a good role model that'll make her ? "No thanks."
"Aaaww.." Lychee whined playfully. "Fine then, suit yourself."

The dragonets slept in the cave they had hung out in earlier in the day. Nemertea and Krill laid facing one another, Clandestine and Kaolin curled up next to each other, Scarp and Arete each chose a vent similar to the one Mirage and Firefly had shared their love of sunsets and sunrises on to sleep on, Fangsnapper hung upside down from the ceiling like a bat, and Mire, Mirage, Lychee, and Firefly were on seperate ledges on the wall.
"Would you be able to sleep ?" Lychee asked Firefly from her ledge, slighly higher than Firefly's.
"I..." Firefly hesitated. She hadn't thought this thru. "Maybe ? I don't know ?"
Lychee looked as if she was contemplating something. Then, yellow bubbles appeared on her wings as her expression changed to an excited one. Without a second to spare, the Rainwing climbed up the wall to execute her new plan.
Firefly was left mildly confused by what just happened. She only got more confused when she noticed Clandestine and Kaolin giggling with their eyes closed far below.
The confusion didn't last very long, though. Because not one minute later, Lychee returned with a Mirage close intoe. Oh no..
"There !" she said, pointing a claw at Firefly and retreating to her sleeping area before the Rainwing-Nightwing hybrid had the chance to complain.
Mirage climbed down to where Firefly was and when he sat down next to her, she could immediately feel warmth his scales radiated.
"Lychee told me that you were having trouble sleeping," he said, oblivious to what her cousin's true intentions were. "What can I do to help ? Water ? Milk ? Cookies ?"
Firefly's ruff turned blush pink as embarrassment took over. "Uhhh... It's nothing.. you should go back.."
"But I want to help," he replied.
"It's.. silly," Firefly tried to spare her dignity.
"I'm a Seawing hybrid who doesn't like swimming in the sea, how silly could it be ?"
He's so sweet but why can't he understand how flustered this is making me feel ? Ughh...Oh fine !
"I.. can't sleep when it's cold." She tried to make it sound as less humiliating as possible.
"Oh," he said, still giving Firefly a nice, not-judging smile. "I don't think we have any blankets here.. my mother is usually enough."
"That's fine ! I'll just-"
A very loud cough from way down on the cave floor interrupted them. They directed their attention to the dragon who had disrupted them, Clandestine. Of course.
The Nightwing dragonet had one of her wings wrapped around Kaolin's tiny silhouette. Both were pretending to be asleep while trying to muffle their laughter at the same time. Mirage seemed to have gotten the hint, however.
He laid down right beside Firefly and copied Clandestine's pose, only with a few twists. He twined hist tail with Firefly's, the useless barb facing away from her so that it wont poke her flesh, and took one of her talons in his.
They both couldn't help but blush at the intimate position they were in. Although they had to admit, being in each other's arms like that made them feel very comfortable, especially Firefly.
Her embarrassment was quickly replaced by warmth and comfortableness once their scales touched and it most certainly was helping in making her fall asleep.
Firefly rested her head on her free arm and squeezed Mirage's with her other one before drifting off to dreamland. Tonight, unlike past nights, dreamland welcomed Firefly with open arms, showing her pictures of four-way-hybrid dragonets playing with two older hybrids in the sky.
Fine.. maybe napping for a few hours isn't such a bad idea.
Note : School is kinda really tiring right now so i apologize if updates are not as quick as they used to be.
Also, I'm really sleepy all the time now so sorry if some stuff doesn't make sense or if I made many grammatical errors
