Chapter Thirty- Five
Daniella
I drag my fingers along the wall as I read each of the labels on the gold and platinum records that line the hallway.
Who knew that super successful recording studios would be so boring? There is absolutely nothing to do in here. I am bored out of my mind. Usually I can easily find something interesting to do to entertain myself. But this place feels like a hospital. The walls are white and the only decoration is all of the awards they have won. Pretty lame if you ask me.
"Maybe I'll just go in to the studio and listen to them talk. Yeah, that will be fun." I whisper to myself, trying to remember which room they were in.
I smile upon finding the room their manager reserved. That was easy.
I quietly crack the door open and poke my head inside. It looks like they are having an argument in the booth. I shut the door quietly behind me and stand in the darkness while they argue inside the tiny glass box.
"I just don't think any of this is a good idea anymore, Michael. From what I have heard, this placement is not doing well for the band as a whole." A man I do not recognize, says. What is he talking about? "We have some concerns."
"You said this meeting was about the music and a tour. I sure as Hell did not come all the way out here just to listen to you attack her!" Michael steps away from everyone until he is pressed against one of the walls.
I am so confused. Are they talking about me? What did I do?
"Daniella has caused nothing but problems for all of you, Michael. I don't think this is going as planned." The man continues. "I should not have hired her."
Well, that answers that question. They are totally talking about me. But why? What does my attack have anything to do with a tour or a new album?
"You are right. Having her around is not going as planned. I agree." Michael speaks, dropping his shoulders.
What? I can not believe this. Why would he say that? Why would he agree with that man? Michael was just in his front lawn begging me to stay not even three hours ago. What could have possibly changed his mind? I turn around in my spot and reach for the door handle to leave. I can not listen to this any longer. They are talking about me as if I am not even in the room. Well, they couldn't see me, so I guess I wasn't really in the room at all.
"You are right. This is not going as planned. For you. I was supposed to hate her. And she was only supposed to pretend to care about me. We were supposed to go out and pretend to be the happiest fake couple there is. But the emotions go way beyond the cameras. You didn't want that. That is why you are trying to get rid of her. Too much time spent with me means you owe her more and more money." Michael pauses and walks around the room.
I step closer, leaning on the desk with all of the buttons on it so that I can hear him better.
"But she is not in this for the money. What I saw today- and have seen everyday since I met her- is not a girl who wants her face plastered on the cover of every magazine in the world. She is just Daniella. She is not some girl you can pay to look good on camera. She is not some superficial supermodel you thought she was who is only in this for the money and will disappear as soon as you want her to. And you don't like that. So fire her, go ahead. I'll pay her if she really needs the money. But she isn't going anywhere." Michael moves towards the door.
I quickly open the door and stop once he calls my name. "Daniella?"
I turn and look at all of the faces staring back at me. Now they know I am in here. "Um, I was just leaving. Sorry."
