You need to invite the Word into your heart. Not just let God's word, and others teachings about His word, come to you but receive it joyfully. Then you have to inspect what people tell you. Don't let everything people tell you enter your heart as truth. Go look in the Bible and check to see if what the people said is true. I encourage you not to take everything I say to heart, if you're unsure about it then go look in your bible and see if it holds up. You should listen to other people's opinions but don't necessarily let their opinions become your own. I think there is a lot that can be learned from discussing differences of opinion but that doesn't mean one person has to come out of the discussion right. If you don't agree with something tell them respectively and then maybe you can have a conversation about why you believe what you believe, then go look in the Bible and see what it says about what you disagree with. Many people talk when they don't know what they're talking about so believing everything they say can cause you to trip and fall.
