Chapter 26.2: Sweet Summer Sweat
Louise simply got tired of eating alone so she decided to get out of her room to look for Atsushi-san, Ojiro's old driver. The old man doesn't really talk to her that much, but she reminds her of his Papa Enrico, her late abuelito.
She goes down on the hotel's café to buy some snacks to share with the old man while waiting for Ojiro. She finds a crowd of people wearing traditional dresses like her, occupying a huge portion of the café and realizes that it was the after-show party Ojiro is hosting.
She sees him, with some foreigners at his table. The girls are trying to get a picture with him, and the guys are thrusting a bottle of sake at him for a drinking game.
Ojiro lets out a mischievous laugh with the foreigner girls as they took pictures together and she can't help but roll her eyes at them and mimic his laugh sarcastically.
Crazy Japon.
But Louise doesn't risk going out to waste time and stalk her boyfriend. She has her own particular target: The Ki No Tea, a dry gin originating from Kyoto, one of the best gins in all of Japan.
Louise quickly makes her way to the bar when one of the staff members approaches her.
"Try these sushis, one of the top recipes in Nagoya. Your skating mates love them!" she guides her to the table filled with large plates of sushi.
The staff might have mistaken her for one of the skaters because she is wearing a yukata, but that's fine with her as long as she got some free food.
"Omedetou! The show is so great!" the staff greets her.
"Did you watch me? I'm the best skater out there," Louise says proudly while picking the expensive sushis, stuffing everything to her mouth.
When she's full eating free sushis, she gets her bottle of Ki No Tea and snacks with her. She exits the café quickly, and as soon as she turns around in a dim lit hallway, a hand grabs her and presses her to the wall.
She's ready to let out an ambulance scream to be heard in the entire city of Nagoya, but she recognizes the man in front of her.
"Dios redentor todopoderoso, Ojiro!"
"Mighty, Redeeming God Ojiro!"
"What are you doing here?" he holds her on both shoulders.
She bites her lip and looks at him guiltily. But in this kind of situation, she already has her effective weapon ready.
Her kawaii, cute, face.
"I'm sorry. I just got a little lonely eating by myself so I bought food for me and for Atsushi-san," she looks at him under her eye lashes, flaunting her most kawaii face she could muster.
Ojiro sighs, letting go of her. His face softens and he is ready to forgive her, but then he notices the bottle she was holding.
"That's alcohol," his voice has a trace of scolding.
Louise draws a deep breath in defeat.
"Okay, fine. I'm sorry. I really am!"
"We talked about this right? And you promised to wait for me in your room."
Ojiro doesn't raise his voice but when he's mad, his voice is firm and absolute that he doesn't even need to scream to make Louise humble herself and ask for forgiveness.
"I'm sorry. I won't do it again," she mumbles, averting her flustered face.
She doesn't want them to fight. Not this time that she's finally having an alone time with him after the long wait.
"Where's Ojiro-kun?" they both heard a voice across the hallways.
"Don't move and don't make a noise," he commanded her in a whisper, pressing her more against the wall.
They only let out a breath of relief when the footsteps were gone.
Louise braces herself for another lecture, looking up to Ojiro, who became aware of their bodies pressed on each other tightly at the moment, and they are alone in a dimly lit hall.
With that, Ojiro grabs both of Louise and crashes his lips against hers. She does the same by clawing his back, pinning his body to hers more as she responds to his hungry kisses.
Ojiro cages her in a tight embrace, kissing her head as she wraps her arms around his toned, hard body, clothed in his yukata.
They didn't know how long they remained in that position. With no words coming from their mouths. Just their bodies, desperately clinging to each other tightly, longing for each other's warm embrace.
"It's happening! Look! It's starting!" they heard someone shout again from party followed by the explosions of fireworks outside.
"Come on let's get out of here!" Ojiro grabs Louise's hand and they run away together in the dark hallways.
They run freely like children, hiding in the corner every time they notice someone nearby, followed by their childish giggles.
Ojiro pulls Louise into a huge, wide window overlooking the Nagoya port to stop by and watch the ongoing fireworks display.
"Look there," he tilts Louise's shoulders, pointing at the middle of the sky.
Louise spots a single streak of huge light flying up to the highest spot of the night's sky and then it explodes in a huge sparking color of heart shape and inside of it is Ojiro and Louise's initials.
"It's beautiful," she gasps. "Ojiro, how did you..."
"I managed to talk to the right people at the last minute," he shrugs. "It's the reason why I told you to stay in your room. I don't want to ruin the moment."
"I'm sorry, okay? Let me make up to you later but...this is so beautiful Ojiro—"
He pulls her closer to him, wrapping his arms around her tightly.
"I'm the one who needs to apologize," he murmurs. "I'm sorry for always leaving you alone. These small things... I wish they at least made your stay here in Nagoya, memorable."
Louise's heartbeat starts to race, feeling Ojiro's embrace, and the warmth that the low murmur of his voice creates.
It's true that he made her experience great new things in the city, but for her, nothing can top off this moment she's spending with him. The thing that she's been looking forward to. Maybe the shiatsu massage can have a tie with it, but the point is...
Every moment, every time that he spends with her... no matter how rare and no matter how small. In every chance that they've got, Louise already accepted that Ojiro dedicated all his life to his sport. This small piece of time. It's the only thing that reminds her to feel genuine happiness that she thought she forgot a long time ago.
She looks up to him behind her shoulders, holding his arms that are wrapped tightly around her waist.
Their eyes meet in the dark.
"You made me really happy, Ojiro," she murmurs, to him.
Louise welcomes him wholeheartedly when he brings his mouth to hers, answering it with the same amount of warm longing.
Drawn to their heated kiss, Louise clasps his yukata, wrinkling it, as he holds her waist in both of his hands, pushing her to the dark corner of the hallway.
