Chapter 14: Deeper
Tom never thought he'd see the day Elijah Pierce would become an adorable clingy mate.
After breakfast, he decided to lounge in the library and Severin joined him on the couch. He was reading while Severin was managing work through emails. The sun was shining through the large arched windows. Elijah, Zyran, Lupin and his cousin, Azura were all down the hall in the security room discussing details of their mission. However, that quickly changed when the library door opened and those four sauntered inside the room. Tom's eyes flew to Elijah who carried a laptop in his hand and he wondered what they were all doing here. No one said anything as those four settled at the long table together and continued working.
Tom bit back his smile at his mate. Time passed and he didn't even notice when or how Elijah had slowly moved from across the room, and now, they were sitting around the couches. Elijah was right next to Tom and it didn't look like the man was moving away any time soon.
Tom barely focused on the words being exchanged between everyone in the room. Could they blame him? He was distracted by the six-foot blue-eyed wolf who turned into a complete softie. He wondered if it was because of everything that happened last night. Tom would never forget the story Elijah told him. The way he was taken from his home and forced to be part of such a brutal organization was heartbreaking. Tom wished he could heal all the scars inside his mate and erase the horror he witnessed. But that would be impossible. The only thing he could do was support Elijah in any way he could.
Shutting his book, he got up to leave the library because he craved a cup of tea. He asked his brother quietly, so he didn't disturb the others. But Severin wasn't feeling it. So, Tom left by himself and he made it out the door.
"Where are you going?"
Tom stopped in his tracks and glanced over his shoulder at Elijah. "I want some tea," he answered.
Elijah shut the door and came to him. "I'll come with you," he said.
Tom bit back his laugh. "I know how to make tea, Elijah," he said. "You don't have to disturb your work for me."
Elijah's eyes darkened as he stepped forward. "Tom," he said.
"Yes?"
He stepped closer again and Tom didn't have anywhere to go as he was backed against the wall. Tom didn't even know how he got to this position. Elijah laid his hands flat on the wall and he titled his head, biting his lip as his eyes were deep in thought.
This was dangerous but amusing too, he thought.
"Tom," Elijah whispered this time.
A shudder ran through him at the sound of his name from his mate's lips. "Hmm?" he replied.
"Don't leave," Elijah mumbled.
Tom couldn't even protest because Elijah sealed his lips with a searing hot kiss. The kind that made his knees weak, his heart pound in his chest and his stomach knot with nerves. He was caged against the wall, that was cold against his hot skin. But he didn't care, because he was being consumed by this ravenous predator that knew what he craved and was out to get it.
Elijah deepened the kiss, his tongue twirled inside his mouth, caressing them together in a sweet sinful dance. Tom let out a sound by accident, but he couldn't help it. This sensation of being taken and dominated by a mere kiss was wickedly unpredictable and gratifying.
Elijah broke the kiss only to trail his lips down Tom's throat. He raked his teeth across the skin and that sensation shot down Tom's stomach to his shaft. He was seconds away from getting an erection while standing in the middle of the hallway of their house.
"Elijah," he moaned, "slow down."
Elijah sucked on the skin before his hands reached under Tom's sweater. He flinched at the contact of hot, rough palms against his smooth skin. They pressed their bodies closer and Elijah forced his strong thigh between Tom's legs. He cunningly added pressure to the aching shaft that Tom was trying to keep composed.
He dropped his head back, leaning it on the wall as his eyes drank in the sight of Elijah who was lost in the haze of need. Tom didn't know what to do in order to sate this wolf's desire. The obvious choice was to rip their clothes off and continue what they started, but anyone could walk out here and see them.
Tom raked his fingers through Elijah's blond hair and he gripped it. "If you keep this going, you can I both know we won't be able to stop," he warned.
Elijah's blue eyes dripped with defiance. It was like he was a kid who didn't get his candy. He ran his hand down Tom's abdomen before he gripped the buckle of his trousers. But, surprisingly, he didn't continue. He swallowed his urge and restrained himself for now. Elijah stepped back and he was quite skilled at harnessing control over his ragged breath. Tom counted the two or three deep breaths Elijah inhaled before he cooled down. It took him longer though because he didn't have that willpower.
They returned the room after and Tom went to take a seat.
"I thought you were getting tea," Severin said.
Tom blushed. "I drank it," he bit back his smile.
They all sat together while Azura told the group about a notorious organization of wolves known as The Hounds. They were a group of men that caused chaos around here in New York and in Berlin.
"Berlin," Zyran said. "Isn't that where-"
"Zero," Elijah and Severin spoke together.
"Zero's in Berlin?" Azura asked.
"Yeah," Lupin answered her.
"It's likely that she's run into The Hounds," Azura voiced.
"I would bet my fortune on it," Severin remarked.
"What should we do about the Hounds here?" Lupin asked them.
"We take them down," Elijah answered.
"They probably have a leader here," Zyran added.
"They do," Azura replied.
"How did you figure all this out?" Tom asked her.
Azura turned the screen from her laptop and showed him the photo of dead bodies. Tom grimaced at the sight of it but he recognized that these men looked awfully familiar. They were dressed in the same dark uniform as the men who attacked their house. Azura zoomed the photo in on the vest one of them wore and she showed a grey emblem.
"Do you see that mark?" she asked.
"I do," he astonished because he hadn't seen that before.
"That mark belongs to The Hounds organization," Azura told him.
"I see," he mumbled.
"Do you know who runs this group?" Severin asked her.
"I'm not sure yet," Azura said. "I don't even know how many people operate under this name. It could be dozens, hundreds or even thousands."
Tom and Severin shared a worried look knowing that this mess got a whole lot more tangled than it should have been. Whoever attacked them had something they wanted to protect or hide from the eyes of the public. If this organization was willing to come to Zero's house and attack, then they were probably going to cross any line to ensure they were kept a secret.
"So, what now?" Lupin asked. "Should we engage or do we want to warn Zero?"
Elijah considered it. "Zero wants us to handle this city," he said then. "So, we make sure we annihilate this group and keep everyone safe."
The others nodded in agreement.
Tom was impressed that Elijah hadn't cracked under pressure. But this kind of task that could dictate the future of the city didn't terrify the people around the room. They were built to handle this mission because they harnessed their skills until they couldn't be challenged.
However, Tom couldn't help but be worried. This organization seemed crafty and they had the means to lead missions in two different parts of the world. It was clear that whoever was controlling The Hounds had an elaborate plan to ensure they were never erased from the world.
Tom got up to put the book back on the shelf.
The others concluded the meeting and they were planning to head out later tonight to gather intel on this notorious group.
Tom lingered by the shelf as the voices of everyone grew distant when they left the library. Suddenly, a pair of arms wrapped around his waist. Elijah tucked his head into Tom's neck and he inhaled deeply like he could entrap his scent forever.
"How do you smell so good?" Elijah mumbled. "I'm addicted to it."
Tom peeked a smile, but the concern didn't leave his eyes. Elijah caught on too because he could see it clearly written on his face.
"What's wrong?" Elijah asked.
Tom shook his head. "Nothing-"
"Don't lie," Elijah interrupted.
He sighed in defeat. "I don't want to see you get hurt, that's all," he said.
Elijah turned Tom around and their eyes met. "I won't get hurt," he assured. "And I have the others coming with me."
That was the only reason Tom wasn't losing his mind. He knew that Zyran, Lupin and Azura were trusted allies.
"You shouldn't worry about me," Elijah whispered. "I think you should be concerned about what I plan to do to you now that we're alone."
His eyes widened. He couldn't let out a sound before Elijah bent down on his knees and he laid his lips on the buckle of Tom's trousers. There was nothing he could do to stop the wolf between his legs because when Elijah pulled the zipper down with his teeth, Tom was sent over the edge of self-restraint. He was already hard as a rock, it strained against his boxers and Elijah knew that.
Tom raked his fingers into Elijah's blond hair before his boxers were pushed down and his erection touched his mate's lips. He kissed the tip before he used his tongue and licked up like it was candy. Tom bit down on his lip, holding his voice back otherwise he was sure to lose his mind.
Elijah opened his mouth and slowly wrapped it around his cock, taking the head into his hot, slick mouth. Tom shuddered from the electric pulse that was as hot as the sun, beaming through him, turning him into a mess. The slick heat of his mate's mouth was irresistible, he couldn't breathe or think. That was when Elijah took the length down his throat. A moan escaped his lips and he cursed for not being able to control himself. But how was he supposed to remain calm when his cock was being choked to death?
Suddenly, Tom heard voices outside the door. He stiffened and he looked over his shoulder, through the books to make sure that no one was here.
"Elijah, stop, or else someone will see us," he warned, but then he saw the fire in his mate's blue eyes.
"I -on't ca-e-"
Tom felt the vibrations of Elijah's response through his cock and he almost came from that alone. "Don't talk with it in your mouth," he groaned.
Elijah's eyes flashed with amusement. He ran his tongue along the base of his cock before he continued to devour him. Tom's hips moved on their own and he pushed deeper into his mouth, trying to keep them together until they were desperate. He noticed his mate's dark pheromones that wrapped around them, they were heavy and hot. The spiced masculine scent drove Tom to the edge and he was aware that his mate was aroused too. Lifting his foot, he placed it on Elijah's thigh where the man's erection throbbed.
Elijah growled darkly and Tom smiled down at him. "Did you get hard sucking me off?" he said wickedly as he pressed his foot down. "You act all high and mighty, but you really are a slut, aren't you?"
Elijah couldn't say anything to defend himself with his mouth occupied. Tom lifted his shirt and put it between his teeth, so he could get a better look at his mate on his knees. Straightening himself, he grabbed Elijah's head and buried his cock to the hilt inside his mouth.
He rode the wave of arousal that was burning inside him, consuming him in a way that nothing ever had before. Tom studied his mate's eyes that were as beautiful as the clear blue sky and as deep as the ocean. But who would have thought that these eyes could have such a wicked side to them? Tom thrusted his hips into his mouth and he bit back his voice. The pleasure pounded inside him, taking over and he was reaching the edge. This wasn't a slow build either. It was like someone shoved him off the cliff and he fell to his demise.
Tom was going to pull out at the last minute, but it was Elijah that grabbed his thighs and held him firmly inside his mouth. He dropped the hold of his shirt from his mouth so he could protest, but it was too late. He reached his pinnacle like he had been hit by a truck. It was strong and shattering. The essence of his body poured down his mate's throat and it fucking called out to the animal inside him. It was like he marked Elijah through this possessive act.
After he rode the wave out, Tom was breathless and exhausted but strangely refreshed as well. He looked down at Elijah who pulled away and he licked his lips.
"Are you going to let me help you?" Tom asked as his eyes saw the erection through the man's pants.
"Only if that's what you want," Elijah answered.
Tom looked down at the one on his knees and wondered what made this wolf so adorable?
Elijah never once asserted his dominance on anyone when it was clear that he easily could. He was gentle and polite despite his need to give Tom earth-shattering orgasms.
He fixed his boxers before he kneeled down and kissed Elijah. There was nothing that could separate them and he was aching to mark him too. Tom wasn't sure how long he could wait because he was craving to sink his teeth into his mate's neck.
Tom guided Elijah onto his back. He complied and laid down on the rug between the two bookshelves. He straddled his waist and he ran his hand down Elijah's solid abdomen before he unbuckled the belt. The moment it fell loose, Tom pushed his hand down the band where he felt the thick head throbbing and wet. He moaned into his mate's lips and Elijah was already rocking his hips into his hand. Fuck, to see Elijah desperate and aching was a sight to behold. Tom hardened from the way his mate was flushed with arousal.
Tom broke the kiss and he trailed his lips down his mate's neck, inhaling the rich fragrance of lust and flames. Shoving the boxers out of the way, he ran his hand down the length before he grabbed it fiercely in his fist.
"Fuck, Tom," Elijah growled.
He smiled. "Did that feel good?" he asked before he licked Elijah's ear and bit down on the lobe.
"You know exactly what it feels like," Elijah remarked before he grabbed Tom's ass and squeezed.
Tom laughed because it was true. He knew how arousing it was when his hand slid down the thick length. He was torturing Elijah by going slow. "Why does it please me to see you in such a vulnerable state?" Tom asked as he faced those burning blue eyes. "God, I wish I could keep you under me forever."
Elijah's eyes flashed as if his wolf appeared through them. "As if you wouldn't enjoy being under me too," he remarked.
Tom grinned. He didn't answer, instead he kept his fist tight and ran it up and down his cock, getting Elijah to forget his thoughts in a second. But it wasn't enough, they both needed more. Tom lifted slightly until he freed his cock again and now he held them together. Both of them were hot and aching, it was excruciating to be this hard. He rubbed them together and the hard lengths were burning with pleasure. Tom couldn't breathe and he was losing his mind.
"Tom-" Elijah's tone was dark- "kiss me."
He complied as their lips met again in a heated dance of their tongues pushing and pulling the other in their mouth. Tom was reaching the edge and he knew his mate was too. Elijah held them tightly together as Tom rubbed them, his speed quickening and that was when both of them came hard. They made a mess on Elijah's shirt but neither of them cared.
Tom slumped down and laid his head on his mate's shoulder. It was only a moment later when he couldn't help but laugh. "I can't believe we just did that in the library," he said.
Elijah smiled too. "It's your fault," he believed.
Tom gaped. "I wasn't the one who initiated this," he defended himself.
Elijah ran his hand around Tom's nape. "It's because you're so pretty, that I can't resist giving in," he revealed.
Tom's cheeks burned brightly. "I don't think I'm anything special," he mumbled.
Elijah kissed his cheek. "I should have been focused on work, but all I could see was you sitting on that stupid chair and the sun shining on your body," he whispered softly. "It made me want to hide you within my shadow so no one could see how beautiful my mate truly is."
Tom's heart ached in his chest. "Elijah," he whispered.
Elijah pressed their bodies closer, holding him hostage. "I want you all to myself," his tone darkened. "If someone even looks at you, it makes me want to rip their eyes out."
Tom kissed Elijah. "Right back at you, sweetheart," he whispered.
Eventually, they got off the floor and went to their room to get out of their dirty clothes. Once Tom had changed, he joined Elijah and they went downstairs together. He spotted his brother by the fireplace.
"Where are the others?" Elijah asked.
Severin looked up. "They are all in the gym downstairs," he informed. "I don't really know how they came to the conclusion that training was a great way to kill time."
Tom didn't under that either. He'd rather be in bed if he had the day off.
On the other hand, Elijah understood perfectly because he turned to Tom and told him that he was going to join them. Tom was definitely not going to workout after everything they did in that library, so he sent his mate off by himself. And he sat with his brother so they could enjoy actual tea this time.
-Elijah Pierce's POV-
Was this how intense the mating bond should feel like? Elijah wondered as he climbed down the stairs to the gym. He was being consumed by Thomas Salvatore. Every part of his body was on high alert and he was going to explode. He couldn't take his eyes off Tom and it was excruciating. Elijah didn't even mark the man yet.
What was going to happen then? he pondered with a bit of concern for his mate because Tom was going to have a hard time keeping up.
He never knew that he was someone with an abnormally large appetite for sexual activities, but now that he was with Tom, he could feel his wolf craving to hold him prisoner. He didn't want them to leave the room or even put clothes on. This desire was eating him alive and Elijah feared if he didn't put some distance right now, then whatever they did in that library was going to continue and become a public show for the rest of the residents in the house.
Elijah sighed as he raked his hair. Training was the best way to burn off steam. He would workout with the others and cool his head a little. He didn't want to put his needs on Tom who was as delicate as a porcelain doll. On top of that, he didn't want to take it any further because he was so close to marking Tom. But he didn't want to do that without first telling Severin about their bond. He needed to tell him the truth and make sure that there weren't any objections.
That thought alone tugged at Elijah's heart. What if Severin were to reject this mating? He had the full right to do so since Tom was his little brother. But Elijah feared what he'd become if he was refused his mate.
Clearly, he needed to take his mind off things.
Before he entered the gym, he went to the locker room and changed into a pair of shorts and sneakers. Ditching his shirt, he grabbed his phone and headed off to the gym. Right away, he saw Azura at the bench-press while Lupin was helping Zyran learn a few combat moves.
Elijah opened the glass door and the voices streamed through.
"Who said that you're a better fighter than me?" Zyran objected as he stood panting on the blue mat.
"I know I am," Lupin voiced confidently.
"Do you not remember when I stabbed you?" Zyran reminded.
Elijah came over. "You stabbed him?" he asked.
Zyran raked a hand through his dark hair. "Yeah," he answered.
"Like I said, I was going easy on you," Lupin revealed.
Zyran glared at him. "I don't need you to go easy on me," he said.
Azura laughed at them as she put the weight down on the bar before she got up to watch them bicker away.
"Okay, fine," Lupin said.
Zyran didn't hear him since he was glaring at his cousin.
Lupin moved with lightning speed across the mat before he pulled an offensive move on Zyran. He threw a punch but Zyran dodged it, except that was the decoy so Lupin could get his thigh between the man's legs and throw him down easily onto the ground. Elijah, Azura and Zyran were all equally surprised.
"See, I told you," Lupin grinned down at Zyran.
The man's silver eyes widened. "Get. Off. Me," he gritted out.
"I don't know," Lupin sighed as he pressed their bodies closer, "I kind of like the position we're in."
"Y-you-" Zyran was speechless. "I'm going to kill you."
Lupin leaned down and kissed the man's cheek where his scar marred the skin. "I'd like to see you try," he jested.
Zyran's face turned as red as a tomato.
"You're going to kill the poor guy," Azura voiced while Lupin got to his feet.
Elijah completely understood whatever Lupin craved because he was on the same damn boat. He walked off and got on the treadmill because he was so close to going back up those stairs and grabbing Tom. He needed to calm down. He knew that. Damn it all.
Pressing the highest number, he ran until he was dripping with sweat. But even then, it wasn't enough to distract him. He asked Azura to let him use the bench press and she aided him as he lifted the weights.
"You good over there?" she asked as she saw him trying to fight off the temptation known as 'Tom'.
"I can't get distracted," he huffed.
Azura raised a brow. "Is this about the tall, black-haired Salvatore upstairs?" she asked.
Elijah almost dropped the weight on his face if it wasn't for her. She grabbed it in the nick of time and set it down on the bar. "H-how did you find out?" he asked as he got up.
Azura chuckled. "You weren't exactly hiding it," she said. "We all saw the way you were staring at Tom back in the library. I honestly thought you were going to eat him."
He gaped. Then that meant Severin probably saw it too, he thought. But why didn't Severin say anything?
Azura passed him a clean towel from the rack on the side.
"Thanks," he accepted it and wiped his neck.
"I'm happy for you," she said as she took a seat next to him. "Being able to find your mate is a blessing." She smiled as her eyes filled with warmth, which made it clear that she was thinking of her mate.
"It seems I'm not the only one," Elijah voiced as he glanced at Zyran.
Azura glanced at her cousin and friend too. "It seems so," she mumbled.
"Are you worried?" Elijah asked.
Azura nodded. "Zyran doesn't like to believe it, but he's my family," she said. "I want to take care of him and give him the love he didn't get growing up."
"I think Lupin's got that covered," Elijah said.
Azura smiled warmly. "Zyran is finally opening up to someone and that makes me happy," she said.
Elijah saw the bond that three of them had and he was glad that they had each other. But, Azura approved of Lupin who was an honourable wolf and great fighter. If Severin were to learn of the bond between him and Tom, what was he going to think? It was troubling him a lot now. He needed to tell Severin everything before it was too late.
After training in the gym, everyone freshened up and headed off to enjoy dinner together. Elijah waited for the best moment but there wasn't any point in the evening when Severin was alone. He was either with his brother or with Zyran and the others. Elijah couldn't get a word in between Tom, Lupin or Azura.
They enjoyed dinner together and Azura was ready to head home for the night. She asked them if they needed help on the hunt, but Elijah told her that they got it from here. Zyran was by the door too, he didn't say much but his silver eyes that gleamed with concern was all Azura needed.
"I'll see you again soon," she smiled at her cousin.
Zyran expression didn't change. "Spend time with your mate not me," he remarked.
Azura laughed. "Cherry would love to see you again too," she added.
Zyran glowered. "Get going already," he said.
Azura's silver eyes flashed the same way Zyran's would when they ached to say the words in their heart. "Good night, Zyran," she said before she smiled at Elijah. "Good night and have fun on the hunt."
"Yeah, thanks," Elijah said.
She walked off to her motorcycle and drove off into the night.
Elijah shut the door and he saw Zyran's darkened expression. "You alright?"
"It feels weird," he admitted.
"What does?" Elijah asked.
Zyran sighed as he looked up at the large house that was rowdy with all the voices and people. "This," he gestured.
Elijah saw everyone in the living-room enjoying a drink together and his heart ached. His eyes immediately went to Tom who was laughing with his brother. For people like Elijah and Zyran who had spent ages on their own, it was strange to be in a house full of joyful people who didn't cause others grief or pain. This house belonged to Zero and she filled it with warmth. Elijah and Zyran were merely experiencing that for once in their life.
It was getting late and everyone headed off to bed. Tom was quick to change into his pyjamas and curl up under the blanket with a book in his hands. Elijah sat with him until the man fell asleep. He quietly took the book out of his mate's hands and kissed his cheek before he shut the lamp off.
Elijah then got out of bed and left the room. He went to Severin's door and knocked. He wasn't sure if he was going to be awake, but he had to take the chance. Surprisingly, the door opened and Severin stood in his pyjamas with a robe.
"Elijah," Severin frowned. "Is everything okay?"
"I have to talk to you?" Elijah said. "It's important."
Severin straightened. "Come in," he offered.
Elijah stepped inside and Severin shut the door before they both took a seat on the chairs by the fireplace. But it wasn't lit, so it was quite cold in the room. The thick beams of silver light shined through the windows, so Elijah could see Severin's worried eyes.
"I know this news might not please you," Elijah said. "But I can't hide it from you either."
"You're scaring me over here," Severin said.
"I'm Tom's mate," Elijah said.
Severin went quiet.
Elijah expected as much. This bloodline that was pure and centuries old wouldn't possible accept an outcast like him.
"Did you think I was going to object to this mating?" Severin asked him then.
Elijah gave his answer with a curt nod.
"Is that how little you thought of me?"
Elijah's eyes widened as he snapped his gaze back to Severin. "N-no, that's not-"
"It seems that I've failed my job as a brother to you," Severin admitted as he crossed his legs at the knee.
"No, you've been nothing but kind to me," Elijah voiced. "More than I deserve."
Severin graced a kind smile. "You deserve everything," he affirmed.
Elijah lowered his eyes. "I never thought I could have someone like Tom," he shared.
"My brother is lucky to have found a mate in someone with such a big heart," Severin believed.
Elijah shook his head. "My heart beats for him," he professed.
"I know," Severin said. "I knew the moment you two met that you are each other's half."
Elijah faced him. "He makes me feel like I can breathe again-"
"And that scares you-" Severin predicted.
Elijah cursed under his breath. "It fucking terrifies me," he said.
"Because you think you will lose him," Severin predicted.
"Because my life has been a curse for the longest time, Severin," he told him. "I've lost everything once. I can't do it again. I can't lose him."
Severin nodded. "I understand how you feel," he said. "But fear of losing him won't change reality of time and death, Elijah. If you love Tom, stay by his side and love him, so you can be proud once this all ends."
Elijah hadn't thought of it like that.
"Besides, Zero has shown us that death isn't the end," Severin said fondly. "If we are to leave this life, then I'm sure our souls will meet in another realm where we can reunite under the stars that once separated us."
"I wish to be with Tom forever," Elijah confessed.
"And that's all I need to know," Severin said. "You both matter to me and I love you. As long as you're both happy, then I'm happy."
Elijah smiled. "Thank you," he said.
Severin chuckled. "I can't believe you thought I wouldn't approve of this bond," he remarked.
"Can you blame me?"
Severin looked at him. "I want you to trust me when I say that I hold you in the highest regard, Elijah," he said.
Elijah's heart ached in his chest.
"You are an admirable man and I'm proud to be your family," Severin smiled.
Elijah reached his hand out and Severin took it in his hold. "Thank you for accepting me," he said. "I owe you and Zero my life."
"Tom might get jealous if he hears that," Severin jested.
Elijah shook his head. "Tom has me body and soul," he admitted. "My mate has nothing to be jealous about. I'm entirely his to keep for as long as he'll have me."
Severin held his hand tightly. "Then mark him," he said.
"I will," he answered from his heart. "I want to."
Severin put his other hand on their hold. "You only have to answer to your heart," he revealed. "Don't worry about anything else."
Elijah nodded. "Thank you," he said.
"Now, run along," Severin said as he stood to his feet. "I need my beauty rest if I want to look exceptional in the morning."
Elijah couldn't help but laugh a little. He got up and left the bedroom feeling nothing but grateful for having such good-hearted friends who cared for him. With only one destination in mind, he returned to his mate's side and got into bed with him, which was where he felt the safest in the world.
