Chapter 8 - Letter
Pov Bakugou
Kirishima and I made our way back to the hero agency after our shift, totally worn out.
"Ugh, today was rough..." Ei complained, stretching as we walked inside the building. It's true though, crime has been on the rise again lately. More specifically, D.E.K.U. ... They've disposed of a big chunk of their forces all in one swoop. And let's just say the police isn't happy when they find corpses lingering around everywhere in the city.
That was all Izuku's doing, if I need to believe Kirishima. Apparently he's cleaning up at D.E.K.U. or something like that. I just hope I can see him again soon... I sighed as I opened my locker, seeing a green enveloppe on top of my clothes, making me frown. I turned it over, seeing some writing in the corner. To Kacchan. My eyes widened. There is only one idiot that calls me Kacchan.
I quickly put the letter away and took my clothes before heading to the showers.
"Oh yeah, I still had to thank you for looking after Rosa" Eijirou said as he heard me walk in.
"No problem. How was your date with Mina?" I asked, going into the stall next to him. We were the only ones here currently so we didn't bother being quiet.
"It was really nice! Been a while since we last went out, you know, with our daughter being born and all" he answered.
"I can only imagine" I chuckled, letting the hot water run down my back. It sure felt good against my sore muscles.
"Well, not like you don't have kids yourself" the red head pointed out.
"Is that why you never go out? Come to think of it, I've never seen you date anyone but him"
"So what? I don't need another fucking extra in my house, got it? I've got enough shit to deal with when it's just these two assholes"
"Ahw, you love them~" he teased, making me roll my eyes. I quickly finished showering and got dressed, taking the enveloppe again and trailing the writing with my fingers. I could wonder how this got here, but if it really came from Izuku then that's all the answer I need. I carefully ripped it open, taking out the paper inside.
Hey Kacchan!
It's been a while, hasn't it? I realised now too that five years is quite a long time. Everything around me has changed so much, I don't really know how to react to it all. I mean, if you told me Kirishima would join the union five years ago, I would've declared you mad! And Oshi and Kami got engaged?! That's so cute~!
I'm sure you already noticed I'm turning things around here. Getting the union back on track now that I've returned really can leave quite a mess, sorry about that! I'm sure you can handle it though, my number one hero~
Anyway, other than that I've been recovering nicely. I'm adjusting to this new body as time goes by and it's finally starting to feel my own. I'm not sure what your thoughts on the matter are, but I don't really like the thought of me...you know... I died. My body got destroyed and now I got a new one. Like getting another car after a crash.
It feels weird, yet I'm grateful that I'm given the chance to finish my work in this world. I've still got a lot of plans and stuff to do! But they need slight adjustments now that five years have flashed by.
You haven't been sitting still either, have you? I hear you've got a family now Kacchan... I'm really happy for you! Kota is a wonderful boy and I've always wanted to see him grow up to be a strong and confident man. I don't know what Eri is like, but she looks adorable! I bet she'll grow up to be a beautiful woman one day.
I'm glad you're doing okay. I would've felt way worse if you'd suffered in my absence... Leaving you behind so suddenly, after we made up... After we decided to continue together, even if we're on opposite sides of the spectrum. I was hoping that offer still stands? That you're still willing to give this a chance?
If so, please meet me at midnight there where I told you my story. I'll be waiting.
Your Deku x
I choked back a sob, quickly wiping away the water from my face. Fuck. I didn't even realise I'd started crying! Why am I so damn over emotional about this?!
"Everything okay Bakubro?" Kiri asked confused as he entered the locker room.
"Yeah... Uhm, could you maybe look after my brats today? Something important came up"
"Something more important than your children?" Kirishima asked confused.
"Just-! Just... Please? A-and could they maybe stay the night too? I... Please Ei?" I sighed, making his eyes widen. I never begged or pleaded, he knew that.
"I'll call Mina and we'll arrange something, I'm sure it won't be a problem"
"Thank you, I owe you one" I grinned, patting him on the back.
"Can I know what you're going to do that's so important?" the red head asked as he watched me take my stuff, ready to leave.
If Izuku wanted him to know, he'd had Kirishima deliver the letter to spare all the trouble.
"No, I'm sorry"
"Hmph... Well, watch your back. The hero federation is still out for you so don't go behaving suspicious now that you're almost cleared"
"Yeah, yeah, whatever" I sighed, waving it off, leaving the locker room.
I went straight towards the school, hearing the bell ring as I approached the building. At first the other parents and children would crowd me whenever I arrived, or gossip behind my back, judging my parenting skills. But everything calmed down eventually and nobody even bat an eye at me anymore.
"Oh, hello Bakugou!"
I groaned. Well, there was one woman who just couldn't leave me the fuck alone...
"Get out of my damn way, obnoxious woman" I grunted, pushing her an arms length away from me.
"Personal space. Respect it"
"Of course! You're an important pro hero, I wouldn't want to disrespect you in any way possible!"
Oh yeah, she also happens to be a hopeless fan of mine... Although she's a good 10 years older, I wouldn't be surprised if she was somehow in love with me...
Hm, most people here were much older. But then again, I'm only 20. Not a lot of people can say they've got two kids at that age, let alone one that's already in middle school. I glanced at the school gate, seeing the teachers of the younger children guiding them out. As usual, the smaller brats were released first.
"Dad!"
Eri ran towards me with a smile on her face, jumping right into my arms as she started babbling on about her day, loud and cheery. I chuckled, listening to her chatter while keeping that annoying woman away from me. Just get your brat and go already you fucking bitch! Stop bothering me in front of a damn school where I can't kick your ass or scold you to the point of tears! Ugh..! I hate being famous! I put Eri down, taking her hand as we waited for Kota.
That brat better hurry up so I can get the fuck out of here! Most parents were already going, since a lot of them came to take the younger kids home. It's a big school with elementary, middle and high school all combined. That way students don't have to switch schools and lose their friends. It also gives some sense of anonymity, which is why I let my kids go here. Being the children of a famous pro hero has an impact on your life, even if you're adopted. I saw it first hand with icyhot...
Well, I'm not an abusive asshole but everyone did have their thoughts ready on the guy before he even entered the classroom. I let out a sigh of relief as I finally saw Kota walk out of the school gates, glancing around to look for me. Eri waved at him, calling out happily, making me roll my eyes. Kota smiled a bit, ruffling her hair before looking at me.
"Hey Katsuki, you're on time" he snorted.
"Oi, I can't predict my schedule and you know that you damn brat" I stated as we started walking.
"Let's go home so we can pack your stuff. You're staying with uncle Ei for the night"
"What? Why?" Kota asked confused and Eri pouted.
"I... I need to take care of something. It'll be late" I forced out, trying not to lie to them.
"Take care of something? Is it a mission? Something dangerous?" Kota asked instantly. I ignored him as we crossed the street, taking Eri's hand as we walked.
"Dad! Don't ignore me like that!" the boy hissed, pulling at my arm.
"Is it a dangerous mission? Is it secret? Is that why you're being so vague about it?"
"Shut up" I growled, sighing as I took a deep breath.
"I... I'm going to meet up with my old friend"
His eyes widened and he went silent, not talking the rest of the way home. Kota was a smart kid, he understood within an instant. Eri was a little confused but decided to ignore it and happily chatted on about her day at school. Once we arrived at home, I started packing Eri's things for a night's stay at the Kirishima's. Kota grabbed his own stuff while Eri played with one of her dolls under my supervision.
"I thought we would go see him together" Kota stated as he dropped his bag next to Eri's.
"That was the plan" I sighed, handing him the letter.
"I found this in my locker at the agency, he obviously wants me to come alone. I'm sorry Kota, but I promise you'll meet him soon, okay?"
"Are you talking about dad's boyfriend?" Eri asked with big eyes, making me groan and Kota laugh.
"Yes sis, we're talking about his boyfriend! He's going on a date tonight so that's why we'll be staying with uncle Ei and auntie Mina"
"Ooh!" she gasped, making me face palm. I dragged my hand down my face and sighed, grabbing the bags.
"Let's just get going, okay? I also need to check in with the federation today"
"Ugh, that's today?" Kota asked with some disgust.
Every few months I had to go to some general check-up with the hero federation so they would get off my back for the rest of the time. It were just boring meetings and I absolutely hated it. One time they interrogated the children and I had a fit. I made it very clear to those bastards that they had to leave my family out of it.
"Unfortunately... After I'm done with those bastards I'm off to meet up with my boyfriend"
"Ha! You said boyfriend!" Kota grinned.
"We never technically broke up, so yeah, my fucking boyfriend you damn brat" I laughed, hitting him on the head.
"Now stop babbling and let's go"
The way to Kirishima was quiet and peaceful. Once we arrived, Mina greeted us with Rosa in her arms.
"Hey guys! Come on in, go set your stuff in the guest room" she smiled and I handed the bags to Kota.
"Will you help me Eri?"
"Yes!"
I closed the door behind me, giving Mina a weak smile.
"Thanks for letting them stay here on such short notice"
"Yeah, Ei told me something came up?" she asked, frowning a little.
"Is the hero federation planning something?"
"No, no, it's... It's something else. I mean, I still have to visit the federation first but-"
"Dad is going on a date with his boyfriend!" Eri yelled happily. Mina's eyes widened and I coughed, choking on thin air. Kids just can't keep their damn mouth shut, now can they?!
"Katsuki-"
"Not. A. Word" I hissed, wanting to shush the pink girl up. Of course that didn't work...
"I didn't know you had a boyfriend?! That's such great news! Who is it? Someone I know? Someone Eijirou knows? Oh, is he a hero too?" she rambled happily, making me glare at her.
"Shut up raccoon eyes, I don't want anyone knowing about it" I grunted, putting my hands in my pockets.
"I understand you want to keep him out of the media and stuff but I feel really betrayed you don't even want to tell me... Does Ei know?"
"No and he doesn't need to know, okay? I'm off, see you tomorrow"
"Bye dad!" Eri yelled, waving her arms around, making me chuckle.
"Bye Eri, see you tomorrow" I smiled, kissing her on her head.
"You too Kota!"
"Yeah whatever Katsuki!" he answered, falling down on the couch.
"Go get your man already!"
I blushed a little at those words, making Mina giggle.
"You heard your son, go get 'em tiger"
"S-shut up"
