Chapter 4 - He's back
Pov Aizawa
"Good morning my favorite black ray of sunshine~!"
I groaned as I watched a way too happy Todoroki walk in. He handed me a cup of coffee, like every morning. He now had a permanent contract here at UA, meaning he had his own homeroom class and his own lecture. The perspective of heroes and villains.
Nezu thought it was a good idea to learn the student how villains think and that they're also just people who'd been let down by society. Toya was pretty good at the job, considering he's been a villain himself.
"What's gotten you in such a good mood?" I asked, sipping from my coffee.
"Nothing in particular" he smiled, stretching his arms.
I frowned, putting my cup down on the table.
"You went to see your brother, didn't you?"
"Perhaps" he smirked, making me roll my eyes. I knew he still had contact with Todoroki Shoto, his youngest sibling. It wouldn't have been such a big deal if he wasn't the head of the number one crime organisation in the land...
"Oh, come on, don't give me that look Shouta" he laughed.
"So grumpy... What? Isn't Mic giving you enough attention or something?"
I glared at him, making him shut up immediately and broke eye contact with a sigh.
"So? Any developments I should be aware of?"
He knew what I meant with that. The only reason he was allowed to go visit his brother was because he always came back with some intel on the D.E.K.U., intel we could use right now.
"It's a surprise~!" Toya smiled innocently, glancing at the clock.
"Oh would you look at that. It's almost time for first period and I have a lesson to prepare... See ya later Shouta!"
I grabbed his arm as he wanted to leave, making him freeze up.
"I don't like surprises" I hissed, my eyes glowing red. He let out a nervous chuckle and rubbed the back of his head before turning around to face me again.
"Alright, but pinky promise me you won't tell anyone, okay? It's supposed to be a secret"
Isn't all his intel supposed to be a secret? I sighed, rolling my eyes. The Todoroki's remain a strange species to me, even up until this day.
"Fine, I promise" I groaned, seeing his face all serious. This surprised me. Toya wasn't one to get serious out of nowhere, not for no reason. This is some really sensitive information...
"It's him... He's back"
"Him?" I echoed, making him bite his lip and look anywhere but me.
"Midoriya" he breathed, making my eyes widen.
"They revived their former leader"
"A-are you absolutely sure about this?" I asked in shock. It couldn't be true... No! The Green Reaper had died five years ago! There is no way-
"I've seen him with my own two eyes Eraser. It's true, he's back" Toya sighed, putting his hands in his pockets.
"And he hasn't changed a bit..."
With that he left the room, leaving me with unanswered questions. It couldn't be... It's impossible! There's no way they brought him back from the death! His body was gone completely, there was nothing left! He killed himself, taking his father with him. Now I understand why Todoroki didn't want to tell me at first. If he were to ever return... Oh God, this is an absolute disaster...
"Hey there Sho! Watcha still doing here? Class is about to start!" Mic screamed as he walked in the teacher's lounge. He stopped talking once he saw I didn't react.
"What's wrong?"
"It's nothing" I said, lying straight to his face. I know he sees right through me, but I don't want to worry him. Besides, I should run this by Nezu first. He'll know how to prepare the school for... For whatever will follow after this...
Mic frowned, placing his hands on my shoulders so I couldn't escape him.
"You can tell me anything, you know that right?"
"Yeah, I know" I said with a weak smile, giving him a quick kiss.
"Come on, classes are about to start"
That same evening, I met up with Toya for patrol. He became an underground hero too, since it's kinda a requirement to be a hero to teach at UA. Not that he minded. Besides, I grew kind of attached to his company in the long dark nights and Mic was happier knowing I wasn't out there alone.
"You're early" I commented at seeing the former villain waiting for me. Normally I was the one waiting for him, having to endure countless petty excuses for why he was late this time around.
He gave me a weak smile, his hands in his pockets.
"Well, it sure is a beautiful night, don't you think?"
I frowned. How long had he been standing here? Should I be worried?
"You didn't answer my question"
"I met up with Hawks a little while ago" he sighed, looking up at the stars.
"Why?" I asked confused. I knew Hawks worked a lot with Endeavor in the past, so the two of them must've met before... Yet I don't understand why he would want to meet up with the winged hero.
"That's not really any of your business, now is it Eraser?" he chuckled.
"I'm not asking about you and Mic, am I?"
Ah, so it's like that... Well, an unexpected couple, for sure. But if he's happy, who am I to complain? Besides, I'm not interested in getting involved in his love life.
"Let's not waste any more time" I sighed, turning around and pulling my goggles down on my eyes. He nodded, following me through the allies and over rooftops.
It was a quiet night, yet that was all just calm before the storm, wasn't it? Soon the Green Reaper will return... The land will plummet into chaos once more...
"Everything alright Eraser?" Toya asked, seeing I was distracted. I sighed, shaking my head.
"It's him, isn't it?" the red head asked, glancing aside.
"We need to be prepared" I stated.
"Do you know if they're planning something? Is he going to reveal himself soon?"
"I don't know much" he admitted.
"But I do know he only recently woke up. He still needs to recover and adjust to his new surroundings. I mean, five years is a long time for a kid like him"
Guess that's true... But it also means we've got nothing to go on. Damnit!
"Why don't we call it a day huh? We're both pretty tired" Toya pointed out, making me nod.
"Yeah... It's been a long day"
Pov Midoriya
I smiled as I stood in front of the UA gates. It's certainly been a while since I've been here... They rebuild nicely! I can still hear Shoto's worried tone of voice in the back of my head and Shinsou declaring me mad. Personally I think it's rather funny, to be back at this prestigious school. The same place I self-destructed to defeat my old man... Ah, the memories!
Why come back? Well, I'm still a teenager and I'm still planning on finishing high school. Villain or not. I walked inside with no problem at all, seemingly bledning in with the student body. Still not doing well on security I see...
"Hey you!"
I flinched, turning around to face Midnight. I bit my lip, pointing at myself.
"M-me?"
"Yes!" she stated, marching up to me before smiling brightly and ruffling my hair.
"You must be the new student! Suzuki Itsuki, right?"
I smiled a bit and nodded as she started guiding me through the halls. Why didn't she recognize me? Well, that's rather simple, really. My hair and eyes are both sapphire blue at the moment instead of my usual emerald green. A little potion I whipped up! Ah, how I love science~
Besides, my freckles are gone and my new character is different than my old persona.
"Todoroki sensei is expecting you in class 2-B to make sure all formalities are taken care off. Oh and we noticed your parents didn't sign for the dorm arrangements-"
"That's correct" I said.
"You see, I live close by, it's really not necessary. Besides, I'm needed to help them out around the house and the shop. We, uh, we're not really rich..."
"Oh, I see... I'll explain it to the principal, I'm sure he'll understand" she answered with a sad smile, stopping in front of a large door.
"Here it is! If you've got any questions, don't be afraid to ask a teacher, okay?"
"Thank you" I smiled, bowing as she left. I sighed, looking back at the door. It's rather funny how Toya Todoroki is now my new homeroom teacher, isn't it? As long as he doesn't recognize me, everything should be fine.
With a deep breath, I pushed the door open, seeing Toya behind his desk. It looked like a paper hurricane just flew past it...
"Uh, Todoroki sensei?" I asked, closing the door behind me, making him look up.
"Oh, uhm, of course, the new student" he muttered to himself, standing up and straightening himself up a bit.
"Sorry about the mess, I need to correct some tests and it's taking forever" he chuckled, rubbing the back of his head.
"What was your name again?"
"Suzuki Itsuki" I answered, making a small bow to show my respect.
"Ah, that's not necessary kid" he said, waving it off.
"Say, Suzuki... I've read your files. Impressive. It's not easy getting into any hero course when you're quirkless and yet it states you already did your first year"
"I was lucky to get in, sir" I said with a weak smile.
"A-and I'm much luckier to get a shot here at UA. I'll do my best to go beyond and plus ultra! For all the quirkless out there who think they're worthess!"
"That's a very noble goal" he smiled, signing me to sit down. He handed me a pile of paper, going through it with me and explaining everything. School policy, my schedule, some safety percautions... Stuff like that. We talked a bit about my home situation after that and before we knew it, the bell rang, signing the beginning of second period.
"Oh, well, your classmates are going to be here any minute now. Why don't you come and stand with me at front for a second so you can introduce yourself"
I nodded and stayed by his side as the class filed in. I noticed two more familiar faces amongst them. Huh, what a coincidence... I'm in the same class as Kirishima's siblings... They were twins, a boy and a girl. Both had black hair and red eyes, like their older brother's natural colours.
If I remember correctly, the boy's name was Kato and his quirk was named Flexible. It was a pretty straight forward quirk. He was super flexible and could bend his body in the most unnatural positions. The girl was Tokeru and she basically could become a puddle. Both quirks were softening quirks, making their bodies adjust to the shape around them. It was quite the opposite of Eijirou's quirk, which made his surroundings adjust to him instead of the other way around.
They all stared at me after they sat down, some still whispering among themselves.
"Alright class! I want you to welcome the newest member of class 2-B, Suzuki Itsuki" Toya stated, putting a hand on my shoulder.
"Nice to meet all of you!" I smiled, bowing down.
"Hey newbie! What's your quirk?!"
I froze up, being reminded of my first day at this school six years ago. When I enrolled in general studies and they all laughed at me.
I mentally shook my head. No, that's not gonna happen this time! This time I'll say it with confidence! Nobody will look down on my quirkless ass in this school, no way!
"I'm quirkless" I stated, a bright smile on my face. I saw Toya's eyes widen as he coughed, choking on his coffee.
"E-everything alright Todoroki sensei?" I asked worriedly. But when he looked back at me, I knew enough.
Fear was evident in his eyes, soon to be replaced by confusion and curiosity. He knows... Hm, don't give my signature smile in front of teachers. Noted.
"I-I'm fine, uhm, please take your seat Suzuki"
I nodded, making my way to my seat, feeling the stares of the entire class on me. Guess nothing has changed in the past five years... They still look down on the quirkless as if it were pests... At least they keep their thoughts to themselves.
"Oi, Suzuki" a hushed voice spoke up from beside me. It was Kato, Ei's younger brother.
"I think it's super manly you want to become a hero with no quirk! It takes a lot of gut!" he whisper shouted with a toothy smile. His teeth weren't as sharp as Red Riot's, but they were still kinda pointy.
"Let's reach our goals together!"
I giggled and nodded.
"Yeah, let's become heroes together"
