Chapter 12 - Internship
Pov Bakugou
"Hey, uhm, I need to leave a bit earlier today so you're alone for some of the patrol" I sighed as I walked up to Kirishima. He frowned, but quickly smiled.
"Is it because you've got a date~?" he teased, making me scowl at him.
"Mina couldn't stay quiet, sorry"
"Tch... Should've expected nothing else from raccoon eyes" I mumbled, putting my hands in my pockets.
"But hey! I'm proud of you Bakubro! You finally started dating again!" Eijirou exclaimed, giving me a push on my shoulder. I rolled my eyes, glaring at him.
"Shut up Shitty Hair. Besides, it's... It's complicated"
"So you're meeting up with him today, right? That's why you're leaving earlier" Kirishima asked, elbowing me.
"Not exactly" I sighed, making him frown again.
I slowly shook my head, signing him to let it go. I really wasn't in the mood to talk about it. Besides, the hero federation had been breathing in my neck way more lately and Kota was rebelling more than ever. Things were stressful, to say the least... I sighed, pushing those thoughts aside and focussing on my job. Luckily there were no major crimes and I could leave Red Riot alone knowing he could handle it.
So after lunch, I made my way to UA high, feeling a bit nostalgic as I walked through the gates. I'd showered and pulled on regular clothes so I wouldn't stand out or pull attention to myself. Yet the students still recognized me. I heard the hushed whispers and saw the big eyed looks as I walked through the halls.
"Uncle Katsuki!"
I froze up, turning around in an instant. Kato and Tokeru Kirishima. And with them, Suzuki Itsuki...
"What are you doing here?" Tokeru asked confused, tilting her head. Izuku didn't speak up, he just watched the conversation. Smart.
"Oh, I'm here to talk about the upcoming internships" I grinned.
"Are you taking an intern?! So cool~!" Kato smiled.
"Who's the lucky last year?"
"Who says it's a last year?" I smirked, seeing Izuku's eyes widen a bit. He knew what was up.
"Well, knowing you, you wouldn't wanna work with a rookie, right?" Tokeru asked.
"True" I shrugged, glancing aside to see people staring.
"Anyway, I should get going now. Don't you have class?"
"Free period" Izuku stated. Of course...
"Well, have fun, plus ultra and all that. See you later" I shrugged, waving them goodbye and continuing on my way. Soon I arrived at the door of classroom 2-B, sighing as I slid the door open.
"Ah, you're here" Toya muttered from behind his desk, seemingly playing something on an old switch. I rolled my eyes, closing the door, now seeing Aizawa was also in the room.
"Aizawa? Why are you here?"
"I could ask you the very same question Bakugou" he stated, making me roll my eyes.
"I must say I was surprised to hear from you, certainly when you told me you were interested in one of my students for an internship" Toya stated, still not looking up at me focussed on his game.
"I was even more in shock when you told me who it was you wanted to take under your wing..."
"What can I say? I like them quirkless" I smirked, crossing my arms.
"I don't want inappropriate things happening to my student, Katsuki" Toya muttered, putting his game aside.
"But then again, he is your boyfriend..."
What did he just say?! I glanced aside at Aizawa before walking up to the Todoroki, an eyebrow raised.
"We both know I haven't been dating anyone since my first year of high school, Toya"
"Exactly" Shouta spoke, making me freeze up. I slowly turned around, scowling.
"What the hell are you implying, Eraserhead?"
"No need to play dumb with me Bakugou. I know you've been in contact with the D.E.K.U. all these years... And I also know Suzuki Itsuki is actually Midoriya Izuku"
My eyes got a tad bit bigger and I heard him say that. Toya stood up from his seat, stretching.
"Sorry Katsuki, but I told him everything. Hope you don't mind" Todoroki chuckled, making me clench my fists. He betrayed the union, his brother...
What the hell Toya?!
"Like I said, no need to play dumb" Aizawa continued, staring at me with his usual emotionless glare.
"If you know all that, oh great know it all, what's keeping you from arresting us?" I asked, crossing my arms. Our silent stare off was interrupted by Toya, who stood in between us in an instant.
"Hold it, no need to cause a scene" he smiled.
"We'll happily grant you your request! Of course you may have Bun Bun as your intern, no problem at all"
"Wait what?" I asked, blinking in a confused manner.
"You know it's Izuku and you're still just gonna allow him to continue the hero course? No less intern under me? What the hell are you bastards planning?"
"Let's say there is something in it for us, too" Shouta sighed, making my eyes widen.
No way... Deku managed to corrupt Eraserhead?! How?! That dude has been working in the shadows from all kind of shady places and has never once fell to the clutches of darkness! What could possibly be in it for him?! I noticed Toya's guilty look as he quickly shifted his head away from the black head and walked back to his desk.
"I have the paperwork right here. You just need to sign it"
"What about Izuku?" I asked, raising a brow.
"I'm sure he'll gladly intern under his boyfriend, don't you think?" Toya smirked, handing me a pen. I still didn't trust this but after reading the contract I signed anyway.
"Be careful out there Bakugou. We don't want the hero federation finding out about this, do we?" Aizawa asked, making me scowl. Oh believe me, the hero federation would love to hear I have found the Green Reaper already. My secret mission would be over and it just started!
"It's not like I'm working for the union or anything. I'm not corrupted like you" I pointed out, making him raise an eyebrow.
"Oh? You think I'm corrupted and you're not? How funny... Listen up Bakugou, we both only have ties to Midoriya, nothing more and nothing less. So if I'm corrupted, so are you"
"No, cause there is one major difference" I hissed.
"We love each other"
"If you really think so" Aizawa sighed.
"He's a master at mind games, you know? I would be careful if I were you"
"Tch. You don't know him like I do" I stated, glaring at him after signing the paperwork.
"Hmm, guess that much is true..." he sighed as Toya put the documents away. He stepped up right in front of me, his eyes glowing a dangerous red.
"None of this is leaving this room, am I clear?"
"Otherwise we both hang, is that it?" I asked, glancing from him to Toya and back.
"Listen, I don't know why the two of you are doing this or what Izuku has promised you, but I don't want to get caught and neither do you. Guess we really are the same after all... Well, this was fun! I should get going now"
"I'll let you out" Toya smiled, opening the door. I stepped back from Aizawa, still glaring at him. He's planning something... I can feel it... I need to talk to Izuku about all of this and soon.
Pov Midoriya
"I wonder who uncle Katsuki is gonna pick as his intern" Kato spoke while we walked back to our classroom after free period.
"Isn't this the first time Ground Zero accepts an intern? I'm so excited!" I smiled.
"You're a real fanboy, aren't you?" Tokeru laughed, making us laugh as well. I never imagined getting close to anyone with the name Kirishima before meeting these two.
They have the lively spirit of their brother, but didn't make the same gruesome mistakes he did. Yeah, I liked my new friends... Maybe one day, when they're heroes, I can convince them to join my cause..? We soon arrived back in class and took our seats, still chatting away. Todoroki sensei was seated at his desk, playing a game on his switch. I guess that's considered old now, isn't it?
I didn't recognize the game he was playing, but I'm assuming it's some kind of race game since he's moving his body a lot, leaning into the direction he steers in. It was kinda funny to see, made you realise we actually have quite a young teacher. Age is just a number after all. I mean, look at me! I've been a villain boss since I was 12! And I'm doing a decent job, ain't I? Toya groaned, glaring at the game as he put it aside. Ha, he totally lost.
"Alright! Quiet down!" he yelled, making everyone scatter to their place. There were still a few whispers here and there but it was silent enough.
"First of, Suzuki, will you step forward please?"
"H-huh? Me? Why?" I asked confused, slowly getting up from my place.
"Someone came to visit me today, a pro hero who graduated from UA three years ago" Toya continued, grabbing some papers from his desk.
"I'm sure you all know him. He goes by the name of Ground Zero"
People gasped and started whispering. Hm, guess Kacchan really did make a name for himself, didn't he? I'm so proud~! My strong, handsome, number one hero~!
"And for the first time since starting his hero career, he has agreed to take on an intern" Todoroki continued as I arrived at his desk. More surprised sounds came from the room. I'm not all that surprised Kacchan never got an intern. He's not really a people person after all and even though he took anger management classes, he still has the tendency to explode. Quite literary, that is.
"Suzuki, if you'd please sign here then the formalities are over with" Toya smiled.
"What?! He chose the quirkless?! Are you for real?!" someone shouted. There were many people arguing and things got heated really quickly.
"Enough!" the teacher shouted, bursting in blue flames for a few seconds, grabbing everyone's attention. Toya closed his eyes, focussed on his breathing as he calmed down.
"As I said... Please sign these papers, you're expected at his agency tomorrow morning and go there two days a week, like all the other regular internships"
I'm surprised he didn't burn the paper, yet I could smell the scent of death by standing this close to him. He must be in so much pain... Yet he doesn't show any of it. Quite remarkable, I give him that. His control over his quirk really is something. It'll be even better once I'm done with him though.
I smiled, signing the papers and returning to my seat.
"Alright! As for today's lesson, we'll be-" Toya started but I got distracted when Kato sought my attention.
"Dude! You get to intern with Ground Zero!" he whisper shouted in shock.
"Do you know him or something? Is your family close to him? What is there I don't know about? Tell me~!"
"Kirishima! Suzuki! Attention!" Todoroki sensei hissed, making us stop talking and start taking notes.
Toya can be quite stern if he wants to... But then again, he probably learned everything he knows from Eraserhead. So it really was no surprise. When we went to the changing room to get dressed up for hero training, I was congratualted on my internship and people were jealous of the chance I got.
"I guess he really does have a weak spot for quirkless people" someone mentioned, making me frown.
"What do you mean by that?" I asked.
"Didn't he have a quirkless boyfriend in highschool? I remember it was a big deal but I don't really remember why..."
"That's cause his so called quirkless boyfriend was actually the Green Reaper, dumbass" Fuyo Suru stated, passing us in the hallway on her way to the girl changing room. Hm, she obviously did her research...
"Wait, really? Uncle Katsuki was together with the Green Reaper?!" Kato gasped, making me chuckle.
"Rumor goes he knew about it" I snorted.
"That's why the hero federation keeps him on such a short leash"
"I thought that had to do with his temper or something?" someone else asked. People mumbled and broke down into their own little groups as the conversations diverted or continued.
I didn't fuel their doubts or theories but thought it was rather funny how one small thing from the past could still leave such an impact. I can't wait to see how they'll react once they find out I'm that very same person~
