Chapter 70 - A Squid's Cell
Ink's POV
My body couldn't move. Like I was paralyzed. I felt nothing but a hard cold surface under my body. The familiar warm comfort of Error's bed was gone. My eyes refused to function properly so I couldn't see where I was. They wouldn't open. The only thing left was hearing. However, the room was silent.
I laid still until I was able to open my eyes. I was in a grey cell. This room looked like it was designed for a prisoner. It seemed I was the prisoner. When my ability to move came back, I immediately put my hand over my stomach, making sure that Gradient was okay. I exhaled a breath of relief when I felt a reassuring kick. I was able to push myself up to a sitting position but I wasn't strong enough to stand. Now my main objective was to figure out where I was.
As I looked around, I saw iron bars locking me in. Two guards stood on watch, loaded rifles in their arms. One of the guards turned their head and saw that I was awake. They spoke to the other guard in a different language that I couldn't understand. I believe it was Russian. The guard that was being spoken to, nodded and then rushed off.
Soon enough, a tall skeleton walked into the room. He stood in front of the cell. Cracks ran across his face. His left eye light was a bright sickening yellow. He had a smug smile. It made me even more scared and pissed off that he reminded me of Nightmare's bully from grade school. A low chuckle came from him.
???: It seems that Sleeping Beauty is awake. How was your rest?
Me: What is this place?
I growled through my teeth. I won't let him see my fear.
???: I see, straight to point.
He laughed.
???: I like that.
He teleported inside of the cell and started walking towards me. I backed up until I was fully against the wall. He put his index finger and thumb under my chin.
???: You have a pretty face.
I jerked my head to the side to get out of his grip. I kept my attention to the floor as I heard him laugh.
???: I see we have a feisty one.
I suddenly heard footsteps. They were dark and menacing. The guards stood at attention when the footsteps grew louder. When they stopped, I saw a man standing behind the iron bars. Darkness covered his face, hindering my ability to make out his appearance. The mysterious person then spoke to the yellow-eyed man in front of me.
???: What did I tell you, Echo?
The yellow-eyed man, whose name is Echo, chuckled.
Echo: Hello boss. You told me not to hurt your prisoner. I haven't even put a scratch on his pretty little face.
Echo said as he put a hand on my cheek, resulting in me jerking away. I was given another low laugh from the man. Echo teleported back to the other side of the iron bars, leaving me alone in my cell. I instinctively hid my stomach to protect Gradient from any danger. This earned the attention of the person disguised by the shadows.
???: Wait.
He motioned towards Echo and the guards.
???: You three. Leave this room.
They followed his order without a second thought crossing their mind. Loyalty, that's what everyone looks for in an army.
???: Are you... pregnant?
Nothing escaped my mouth. Only silence filled the room. As I started to fiddle with my beige scarf, I nodded.
???: Well now. That's some news. Echo didn't tell me about that.
Me: My turn for a question.
???: I'm listening.
Me: Where is Error?
???: Don't worry, Ink. He's on his way.
My eyes opened in shock.
Me: How do you know my name?
A sigh came from him.
???: Ink, you have been one of the best assassins that were trained at Asgore's camp. You are well known. I've also been keeping taps on you.
This man has been watching me and I didn't even know about it. That's when my fear began to show. Suddenly, he motioned towards Gradient.
???: How far are you along?
Me: Eighteen weeks.
He stayed quiet. I could almost hear the gears turning in his head. Then... he stepped out of the shadows. I let out a small gasp. This man looked like Error.
???: You're telling the truth. That means...
I'm a grandfather
A Quick Discussion
Surprised?
Error's father isn't dead! He's also the big baddy of the story.
God, I have been waiting for this moment for so long now. I finally get to reveal the antagonist of the story.
Also, Echo isn't dead either.
This chapter seems short but it's not. It has 807 words. 650 words or less classify as a short chapter.
Love ya...
