Kanji's view

We were all lined up in three rows, the only people who passed. Anko was right, she did eliminate more than half of us. Most of the ones who passed, were from the leaf village. All rookie eleven. At least we managed to get out that hell hole, I would've gone crazy if we stayed in there for another day.

"First off, congratulations on passing the second test!" Anko shouted as she scanned the crowd with a grim look.

Guess she wanted more people to fail. I looked around, to late. All the elite Genin are here. The sand ninja, Gai'a team, the sound ninja, and all the Genin from the academy. My hand flew to the mark on my neck, I have a really bad feeling.....

"Now then, we will have the explanation of the third test from lord Hokage. Listen carefully everyone!" Anko said.

The Hokage explained the true purposes of theses tests, instead of having all out wars. The Chūnin exams is the place where other villages can send their ninjas to battle. I really didn't understand most of it, the pain on my neck was too distracting.

"Now then, let me explain the third test." Gramps said.

A man appeared in front of gramps, he was kneeling on one knee and bowing his head. "Please allow me, Hayate Gekko to explain the third test." He said.

He faced us, his eyes had very noticeable bags under his eyes. Overall, he looked sick, really sick. "I'd like you all to do something before the third test. And that is a preliminary to the third test, with participation in he main battle on the line."

My eyes widened. A preliminary in which we fail we can't go on onto the real test?! That's not fair, we just came out of the forest with or without chakra!

"Preliminary.." Sakura muttered to the right of me.

"What do you mean, preliminary?!" Shika shouted.

"This time around, perhaps because the first and second tests were easy, there are few to many people, you see. In accordance with the rules, a preliminary will be held in order to reduce the number advancing." Hayate explained.

No way!

"As lord Hokage said, many guests will be coming to the third test. So we can't have long a pointless matches, our time is limited as well. Therefore, those of you not in top physical condition." Hayate explained then went into a coughing fit.

Is he okay? He's coughing pretty bad..

"Excuse me.. Those of you who wish to drop out, please speak now. The preliminary will begin immediately, so..." Hayate went on.

I frowned. Why would we give up right away? We worked hard just to get to this point and now it might be all a waste!

"I forgot to mention this, but it will, be individual battles from now on. So it's your decision, feel feel to raise your hand and drop out."

Who would be willing to quit now-! Groaning, my hand flew to my neck.

"Kanji..." Sakura muttered.

I winced as the waves of pain came in much faster than before.

"Kanji, you should quit these preliminaries" Sakura suggested, causing my eyes to widen at her idea. "L-Look, you haven't been yourself ever since that Orochimaru got bit you! That mark hurts now, doesn't it.."

No...I can't quit now...no! I have those avenge my family's death, if I don't pass this I won't be able to achieve it!

"Please....please quit...I'm scared.." Sakura cried. I snarled at her, she won't be stopping me. "You're in no condition to fight or properly kanji!"

"Shut up!" I snapped.

"But you've been enduring he pain is whole time, right??" Sakura shouted.

"Be quiet!" I snapped once more.

"No matter what you say, kanji! I will make you quit this test, your in to much pain, you can't fight with that bruise! If you don't quit, I'll tell everyone.." Sakura exclaimed and started to raise her hand. My eyes widened.

What the hell was she doing?!

"I'll quit." Kabuto smiled, his hand raised high in the air.

Naruto and Sakura gasped, I simply stared at Kabuto in suspicion. Why would he leave the test now, he was doing fine in the forest. He's just making his fail streak add up, he leaves now, he will have failed the Chūnin exams seven times in a row. After Naruto yelled at Kabuto for quitting, he left the room. Kabuto least for some reason..I know he did....

Hayate coughed, catching our attention. "Now then, are there no others who will quit?" He asked.

Everyone was silent, they didn't move their hands. Or that what I thought. Sakura's hand moved up slowly, I grabbed her wrist, bringing her hand to her side.

"Don't raise your hand and don't say anything about the mark." I hissed quietly.

Sakura's eyes watered, "why are acting like this all of a sudden?! Can't you see I'm worried about you?! I don't want to see you hurt any more than I need to!" Sakura exclaimed.

I sighed, "Sakura, this had nothing to do with you. Understand that, alright?" I said softly.

Her eyes widened and tears poured out her eyes. I sighed again. I didn't me a to make her cry or worry about me, I'm sorry Sakura. But I need to finish this test.

"Kanji, what's wrong with you? Sakura-chan is just worried about you, hear her ou-!" Naruto was cut off.

"Leave her be, dobe." Sasuke said.

Naruto complied and turned away from me.

"Now then, we will begin the preliminaries. One on one battles, those who win will go onto the third test. There are no rules. You will fight till someone dies, collapses, or admits defeat. And please admit defeat right away if you don't want to die." Hayate said, coughing. "If I feel like I need to intervene I will, I don't need dead bodies building up."

Hayate looked up over in a corner, "the names of two people will be randomly be selected and displayed on that board." I looked up at the board, that will determine who we go against. "Now the, let's begin and announce the first two names."

Everyone looked up at the board, waiting to see who he first two were.

Yoroi Akado vs. Sasuke Uchiha

Sasuke and one of Kabuto's team members.

"Now then, he two displayed on the soundboard, come forward. Everyone one else please move to the upper area."

We all went to the upper area, and began to watch the fight. Sasuke ended up winning really quickly, even if that Yoroi guy was able to absorb most of Sasuke's chakra.

Winner- Sasuke Uchiha

Sasuke walked up the stairs to us slightly battered, but he did good in his fight. You can say I'm proud of him.

"Nice job, teme!" Naruto said.

"Good job, Sasuke-kun!" Sakura said.

"You did good out there Sasuke" I smiled.

"Hn, thanks."

Abumi Zaku vs. Shino Aburame

Winner- Shino Aburame

3rd fight

Tsurugi Misumi vs. Kankuro

Winner- Kankuro

4th fight

Yamanaka Ino vs. Sakura Haruno

Two rivals from what I know. Sakura and Ino were both the same in strength, but Sakura had more will and overpowered Ino. Still, neither were a match for each other.

Winner- a tie so neither win

5th fight

Tenten vs. Temari

Tenten was no match against Temari. She only used weapons leaving Temari with a great advantage since she used wind to push them all away. The fight ended in minutes.

Winner- Temari

6th fight

Shikamaru Nara vs. Tsuchi Kin

Winner- Shikamaru Nara

7th fight

Naruto Uzamaki vs. Kiba Inuzuka

Naruto won by farting in Kiba's gave...running his senses..after all Kiba is like a wolf and wih that horrible stench in his nose... He was vulnerable..

Winner- Naruto Uzumaki

8th fight

Hinata Hyuga vs. Neji Hyuga

Cousins. Neji beat Hinata badly, she could barely move. He had closed most if her chakra networks almost leaving her close to death, she would have been dead if all the Jonin didn't step in.

Winner- Neji Hyuga

9th fight

Gaara vs. Rock Lee

Rock Lee had some of his limbs squished by Gaara's sand, making them useless.. Sadly, he might never be a ninja again...

Winner- Gaara

10th fight

Dosu Kinuta vs. Akimichi Choji

Winner- Dosu Kinuta

Final fight

"Sanji vs. Kanji. Will the two please step down."
