Whose Heart Remains
Tell me true the tale
when you, my heart assailed
with candid ways did I regale
and Though you danced
my efforts failed
Whisper of smiles
and slight flirtations
of gifts received
and adulation
Tell me why your heart ran
so at last I understand
One breath, one word
one reaching hand
What derailed my foolish plan?
Sing in silence
and gestures here
You can confess
apart from fear
Tell me not what I know
But what is it that I don't?
For fear alone cannot stop
a true heart when it's shown
Proclaim in laughter
or even in verse
this love I hold
May just be absurd
But at least be honest
to a man like me
whose heart remains
in a place not free
