Chapter 27 ~ Delivered.

The flight went for a staggering twenty hours and thirty-ish minutes.

It would have been the most mind-numbing torturous event of my life to date, due to the insufferable company.
But I was lucky I suppose to be unconscious for most of it.

Not by choice sadly, I would have forced myself to remain awake knowing how vulnerable Dana and I are but Rosik was feeling clever and drugged both Dana and myself within the first half an hour of flying.

The take off was rough, due to the turbulent weather that I'm sure the average aircraft pilot would deny flying through.
However we're on a strict schedule and not even Mother Nature will stop these monsters unnatural schemes.

I was busy focusing on the clouds that were crowding in around the plane and barely noticed Rosik rise to get the drugs ready.

I clenched the armrest with my good arm as the plane dipped and swayed momentarily, I swore quietly under my breathe as my stomach dipped with it, I was not wasting another meal.

"First time flying?" Rosik questioned once he returned and noticed my stiff posture and I gave a brief nod and continued studying the world around us.

If this plane was going to crash then I wanted to be the first to know and the first to react.
There really isn't anything I could do but the mirage of control was comforting.

Reaching over Rosik unlatched the food tray in front of me causing it to drop down with a bang.
I flinched and pressed my hand against my heart, willing it to calm down as Rosik placed a cup of water in front of me.

I craned my neck and looked at the seat ahead of me where Dana was sitting and she looked equally as frightened as me as she nervously drank her matching cup of water.

Deciding that it could help settle my stomach I lightly grasped the thin plastic cup and drank it also, relishing in the cool feeling of the liquid running down my hot throat.

"I think I prefer being on the ground."
I managed to push out as the plane wobbled once more, which made me bite my lip harshly.

"We'll be on the ground in no time and then I promise no more flying."
Rosik chuckled as I finished the drink and sat it back on the tray.

"Not if I have anything to do about it."
I replied which I knew was a stupid thing to say prior but the words still escaped my lips and earned another chuckle from Rosik as he threw his arm around me once more.

Dana groaned in front of me and I tried to peek at her again but Rosik dipped his two middle fingers beneath my chin and turned my face towards his.

"You won't have to do anything anymore. I'm going to look after you Kitty, nobody will hurt you anymore and nobody will care for you as much as I do." Rosik whispered and I felt a headache begin to form behind my brow while my stomach continued to protest.

"Katie?! I don't feel so good."
Dana called out and Rosik clenched my chin tighter before I had a chance to rip away from him.

I began to recognise my symptoms as black spots began to fill my vision and I widened my eyes in realisation.

"Why? What could we have done while trapped on this plane?" I forced myself to question as beads of sweat began gathering at my hairline.

Drugging us made no sense, I understood why they might when we landed but the journey had only just begun, why waste their resources?

"It's for your own safety.. You don't know what your eyes do to me. It's safer to keep them closed for now while we are in such a tight space."
Rosik breathed out and I shuddered as his warm breath caressed my lips.

Dana's whimpers died down suddenly and I knew that she had been taken under by the drug and that I wasn't far off.

Rosik closed his own eyes as mine continued to waver and I could just make out Oliver's frantic gaze take in both Dana and myself as he slowly understood the scene.

Rosik leaned forward until his lips brushed mine and I jumped but that only encouraged Rosik to wrap his other arm around my waist and tug me closer to his body.
I splayed my good hand across his chest to keep some space but it did far from deter him as his lips moved hungrily against mine.

My consciousness was fading fast and just before my eyes were forced shut I happened to glance over Rosiks shoulder and saw Axel pinning the both of us with a dark and broken stare that promised hellish things.

I shuddered as I closed my eyes and a single tear dripped down my cheek before I submitted like Dana.

Dana and I woke just as the plane began to settle back on the ground.
I assume that Rosik ensured that we kept ingesting the drug, I don't know how but that's the only way that we could have remained unconscious for that whole time.

Dana and I stumble out of the plane with our 'caregivers' providing us with steady legs.
My mind is spinning the entire journey out of the plane and seemingly in a process of a blink we are facing two sleek black vehicles.

The terrain around us is dark, blanketed in snow and even though my body is littered in goosebumps I don't feel the cold, a side-effect I imagine.

Rosik makes his way over to the smaller of the two cars which has two men in suits stationed in front.
I'm surprisingly left behind and I assume the larger vehicle is for us and the other trails behind for protection.

Oliver comes up next to me and wraps his hand around my arm for appearance sake while Dana is held in his other.
We don't look at each other but the relaxation of my arm shows my gratitude for the support.

Rosik starts speaking quickly in Russian, authority coming off of him in waves.
I can tell that Oliver and Axel are exhausted who are looking around cautiously whereas Rosik seems to have reached his peak.

Rosik is grinning and laughing and for some reason seeing him so comfortable makes me all the more terrified.
He only talks to the men for a few minutes before patting them both on the back and making his way back over to us.

"You three are going in the larger car with my men who will show you where to wait for me." Rosik explains as he jogs back up to us and wasting no time he sheds off his black jacket and throws it over my shoulders adding such a sudden weight that my knee's buckle.

"Kitty and I are going to go ahead and explain the situation to my father. We won't be long and then I'll meet you back in the lobby afterwards."
Oliver's hand instantly tightens over my arm as Rosiks instructions compute in his mind and my own heart flutters at the thought of separation.

"Shouldn't all of us go together? I mean if you plan on buying both the girls then shouldn't they both be with you?" Oliver quickly interjects and the desperation isn't missed by the present company.

Rosik squints his eyes at Oliver, assessing him before shaking his head slowly.

"That's not necessary." Rosik responds and tugs me towards his body, having no choice but to let me go to ensure I don't get hurt further Oliver reluctantly releases me.

"How do we know that you'll get our share of the money?" Axel speaks up, white fog escaping from his mouth and the white snow contrasts greatly with the dark bags under his eyes.

"Don't worry you'll get your money and be brought back to Australia in no time. If you feel unsafe then just use this." Rosik reaches into the back of his jeans and pulling out the all too familiar gun he tosses it carelessly towards Axel who catches it mainly in shock.

My eyes widen and I open my mouth to argue but Rosik quickly slaps his hand over my mouth.

"I trust you not to do anything stupid Axel. My men here are rather protective of me and my father, you will be treated as a guest of honour if you choose to act like one." Rosik calls out and begins lightly tugging me towards the second car.

Axel pockets the gun nodding and crosses his arms with a gleam in his eyes at the temptation of being doted on.

I take advantage of Rosiks good mood and light grip and surprising him I rip my arm out of his grasp and jog back to Dana, reaching out and scooping her in a tight hug.

This is it, this is the time that my sacrifice reaches fruition.

Oliver will send out the signal once he see's the building, he will intercept the car and boom Dana will be saved all the while I'll already be in the building most likely in the most protected spot.

Tears roll down my cheeks as Dana hugs me back tightly as well, I draw out this moment as long as I can.

Even as I hear Rosik groan and stomp back over to me I still don't let go.
I need to treasure this moment and keep this to inspire me to escape one day.

I will return to Dana one day and I'll hug her just as tightly.

"It's okay Katie. We'll meet you in the lobby soon." Dana whispers and I nod my head harshly against her shoulder, choking back another sob.

I can't even manage a smile due to the fact that Dana is the cool, calm and collected one for once.
All I feel is a hole ripping me apart from the inside.

"Your cousin will be fine." Oliver states, his voice emotionless to a casual listener but to me I can hear the promise beneath it.
I raise my wet lashes to meet his gaze and silently thank him, Dana is in good hands.

"I love you so, so much Dana... I'll see you soon." I whisper into her hair before reluctantly pulling back and pressing a light kiss against her forehead which is creased in confusion.

I finally break eye-contact and spin on my heel, walking straight into Rosik who now grabs me much firmer.

I focus on the tightness of his hand rather than the tightness in my throat and I fight the urge to look over my shoulder the entire time as my cold body is dragged into the front seat of the car and it's not until the door is slammed shut that I finally turn and face Dana once more.

I grew up with her, I helped raise her and she helped shape who I am today.

When she was young she was obsessed with fairies, we would dress up and run through the garden in hopes that we'd find one.
We would spend hours perfecting the outfits so that when the fairy granted us a wish we could ask to become fairies as well and fit right in.

I used to sing Disney songs with her for hours on end until our voices grew hoarse and then we'd sing some more.

She has been growing so quickly before my eyes and I've refused to recognise it my whole life up until now.

Now gazing at her I see the woman that she's going to become.
I can see her with love in her eyes over her first boyfriend, I can see her with happy tears as she walks down the aisle and if I focus hard enough I can see our own kids playing fairies together one day while we perfect their outfits.

And now she'll be able to do all of that and more.
I just need to accept that I may miss out of a few of those key moments of her life.

I'm not going to lose my drive to escape but being in Russia is such a huge obstacle that it's hard to look past.
I've sacrificed potentially my life to ensure that she lives her own and I can only hope that she doesn't focus on me and lives her life to the fullest.

I hope her brother Flynn hasn't lost his drive for adventure after this and from the bottom of my heart I wish for them to have an incredible life without me for however long that may end up being.

I raise my shaking hand and press it against the window just as Dana is directed towards the other car.
I wait for her to turn around and send me a smile, a wave or anything so long as it's another memory of her but she keeps her head down and shuffles into the car.

Oliver turns around though and nodding a tiny fraction his eyes share with me his determination to keep me safe also but his hope falls like sand through my fingers.

This is how it was always going to be. I'm always alone and it's always up to me.
I will find my own way out of this.

Rosik is eager to get moving so he wastes no time in jumping in the car, starting it and pulling away onto the road.
I remain quiet and continue staring out the window my mind buzzing a million miles per-second.

"Are you okay?" Rosik questions and places a hand on my bare thigh, just below where the dress ends.

"Just peachy."

"You don't have to lie to me."

"Yet I apparently I have to stay with you." I feel Rosik squeeze my thigh tighter but I still refuse to turn.

We remain silent for the rest of the trip. The only sign of us engaging was when I was forced to place my hand on top of his and drag it further down every time he tried 'exploring' a little bit higher.

The clock on the dashboard reads 8:30 pm in bright neon red and while my body is confused I thankfully don't feel tired due to my forced sleep.

We drove for an hour along abandoned roads until finally Rosik pulls into a long driveway blocked by a large gate and squinting through the sleets of snow I manage to make out a large multi-story hotel-like building.

It's dark and imposing and extremely isolated with no other buildings in sight and it's exactly what I imagined a trafficking ring to look like.

"So is this where you're going to try and keep me?" I question as Rosik removes his hand and rolls down the window next to an intercom.

"No, I'll take you to one of our family houses and we'll stay there. You'll like it, it's cosy. This is just my workplace." I refuse to comment but part of me is selfishly glad that I don't have to spend much time in this eerie building and I feel guilt knowing how many people inside of there dream of an escape.

"имя и бизнес." a crackly voice questions through the intercom and I make a mental note to attempt to learn some Russian while I'm plotting my escape.
It'll only help me further to escape this country.

"Росик и я здесь, чтобы увидеть моего отца." Rosik replies excitedly and he sends me a smirk over at my shrunken form as the gates quickly beep open and Rosik steps on the accelerator a little too hard.

We speed down the driveway and skid to a stop at the front entrance.

Thankfully my eyes were trained onto our surroundings as we sped down the gravel.
If they weren't then I may have missed the various guards littered among the trees surrounding the building, I could make out guns but that was all as they watched us speed towards their den.

As soon as Rosik turns the car off he jumps out and jogs over to my door.
By the time he reaches it he is covered in snow and with the drug entirely out of my system I'm thankful for his coat as the freezing air bites at my flesh.

I attempt to step out of the car myself, but Rosik wanting to show off to the phantoms around us quickly reaches in and lifts me out of the car, setting me firmly in front of him and soon into a tight hug.

"I'm so happy that you're here!"
Rosik whispers and I feel his steady heartbeat contrast my frantic one as the snow settles in our hair.

"C-Can we just g-get this over with?"
I grit out as my knee's shake and elbows lock in place.

I already hate Russia.
Australians don't deal well with the cold.

Rosik grasps my good arm tightly before tugging me towards the big doors.

I glance over my shoulder to try and spot the other car but I can't see any sign of headlights in the distance.
All I'm met with is various eyes hidden in the surroundings that are taking in their leaders son and his mysterious girl.

The foyer and hallways branching off from the front door are in surprisingly good shape.

The decor is bright and inviting and the building looks relatively clean as Rosik whisks me down a hallway confidently. I'm almost tricked into believing that this could be a normal hotel during the day and a nightmare at night but looking closer I notice things starting to taint the space.

The glossy red paint on the walls isn't faded but every now and then you can see that the actual plaster itself has been kicked in or scratched off, they have attempted to hide it over fresh layers of paint but I manage to see through it.

One scratch in particular has left a green residue behind, staining the walls and I briefly wonder if it's nail polish which opens up a whole other door of fear and repulsion.

How many people have been dragged down these halls?
While I'm strolling down it without so much as a complaint.

"Is this place sound-proofed?"
I question softly, wincing as even my whisper bounces and echoes off the walls.
I didn't expect the place to seem so abandoned, I expected the monsters to be loud and proud in a place that they felt safe.

"Most of the rooms yes. But the night is still young, most of the clients and bidders won't be here until around midnight." Rosik replies back lightly and continues his brisk walk while I begin counting the various camera's that we walk by.

"Where are the others being kept?"
I try to question casually but the malice is still there.

When the cops arrive a dam will burst, if I can provide even a small detail to help them reach the victims quicker then they'll most likely be able to save more of them.

"That doesn't concern you Kitty. You won't be going down there."
Rosik quickly responds and his grip begins to sting while my mind swims.

"Down there? So in the basement? How cliché." I mutter and all Rosik can manage is a sigh and an eye roll.

We finally arrive at the end of a rather long hallway and pause in front of a shiny elevator.
Instead of having a panel with an up or down button there is to my surprise a hand scanner bolted into the wall.

I knew this operation would be earning millions but I wasn't expecting this James Bond shit.

After placing his hand on the scanner for a second it turns green and the doors glide open, the surprising scent of vanilla wafting over my features.

My stomach quietly growls once more as I'm reminded of cake but thankfully Rosik doesn't notice or simply doesn't care as I'm tugged into the small space with him.

There is no cringy elevator music much to my joy but with nothing but silence between Rosik and I, I hate how my hands begin to grow clammy.

I try to spot camera's in the space but I can't find any, it doesn't mean they aren't there it simply means that the tech is getting more advanced.

After pressing the highest number on the board Rosik turns to face me as I lean against the far wall and stares at my entire body.

"How did I end up so lucky?"
Rosik whispers as he saunters over to my form.

"By force." I reply evenly and ignore his hungry look to the best of my ability.

Rosik inches closer and I hold up my good hand, prepared to slap him but Rosik is quick to grasp it and tug it down sharply, making me grit my teeth.

"I think a part of you likes to be a little forceful. You're always looking for reasons to be rough, is that what you're into Kitty?" Rosik teases and I glare as his face leans closer down to mine.

For an elevator that is aesthetically modern the pace of the contraption is torturously slow.

"Oh wait, how are you supposed to know what you like when you haven't tried a single thing yet?.." At this my stomach dips as Rosik presses his body flush against mine and begins peppering my face with hot, rancid kisses.
I hold my breath and clench my fist, staring anywhere but at him.

"I know what I dislike and that is very much you!" I grit out and attempt to step back but all I do is corner myself further brightening Rosiks eyes.

"I'll teach you so many things.. You'll feel so many new things.."
Rosik continues to murmur, not processing my own words however as I open my mouth to repeat my opinion of him Rosik takes advantage of it and pushes his coarse lips against mine.

Now I really do start to struggle as Rosik places his free hand around my neck.

"Don't. Bite. Me." He pants out and squeezes a warning before latching his lips once more onto mine.

I try to shake my head but he doggedly follows my movement.
As Rosik plunges his tongue into my unwelcome mouth I have to swallow the acidic bile that wants to rise as his tongue strokes mine.

I keep my tongue lifeless and it isn't until Rosik squeezes my throat once more, tight enough to make my pulse pick up that I finally give in and allow my tongue to gently stroke his back.

Rosik instantly releases a low guttural moan and amidst his passion he lets go of my throat and trails his hand down to the bottom of my dress before sliding up it and grasping my ass.

I jump and try to curse but Rosik pushes me back and causes my head to hit the wall, silencing me.
I'm forced to continue kissing him, granted with far less passion and hunger than him until the door's finally ding.

Breaking off with a toothy grin Rosik retracts his paws momentarily before grasping my good hand once more.

Staring into my watering eyes Rosik leaves one more lingering kiss on the tip of my nose before turning and pulling me into his Fathers quarters while I struggle to catch my breath.

Forcing myself to blink back my tears by convincing myself that potentially hundreds of other people in this building have it far worse I force myself to assess my surroundings.

I was correct in guessing that this is the most protected part of the building. We're in a waiting room of sorts, the room is a circle and has various comfortable looking chairs littered across the room among the six guards evenly spaced out.

The guards are intimidating but I suppose that's in their job description as the stare ahead all dressed in black and all carrying various small guns.

There is a small water fountain and a bookcase but besides that the room is bare.

I'm at first confused as to why there are so many chairs but it makes sense as I assume that all 'purchases' within this building must have to be granted by the owner himself.

I shiver as I comprehend just how big of a monster I'm meeting.
The man behind the only other door on this floor is responsible for the abuse, kidnap and potential deaths of thousands of poor people.

Rosik thinking I'm cold simply readjusts his jacket over my shoulders and give me an eager grin.

He begins to tug me forward ignoring the men in the room while I stare curiously, trying to make out their expressions but they all remain passive and unmoving, that is until we are just about to reach the door.

Just as Rosik reaches his hand out to grasp the gold knob the man closest to the door who is only a little taller than my small frame but has far more muscle than Rosik places a firm hand on his shoulder.

He glances at me once and I try to find a sliver of humanity inside of him but he remains a shell with his buzzed dark hair and thick eyebrows.

"Your father wishes to speak with the girl first." The man grunts out and I appreciate his use of English.

It's rough and his accent is extremely thick but I know he used it purely for my sake and while I'm aware that everyone in this room is heinous I'm still grateful.

Rosik looks surprised and glances uncertainly at me before nodding slowly and removing his hand from the handle.
I remain shocked and crease my eyebrows, his son has been gone for years.

Why wouldn't he want to see him?

"I'll be just out here." Rosik promises but that does extremely little to comfort me so all I do is nod in return before placing my small hand on the cool handle.

Rosik spins and sits down on the nearest chair and giving me a final goofy thumbs up I take a deep breath and turn the handle smoothly before slipping inside.

The first thing my senses pick up on when I enter the room is the music.
It's basically the same as what Rosik listened to in the van.
Soft, slow Russian music that comes straight out of a low budget horror movie.

The next thing I notice is the smoke that quickly fills my lungs and feeling my body being polluted reminds me of my mother which makes me both sad and panic as I lightly cough.

Finally my eyes focus on the room itself and I'm taken aback by the grandness of it.

There is a full lounge seating set, dark brown leather by a large fireplace that fills the room with such intense heat that I instantly want to pull off Rosiks jacket as the heat bites into me.
I fight the urge, not wanting to be any more exposed and to further cement my decision I wrap my arms around myself.

Finally my eyes reach the back of the room and sitting behind an excessively large desk with a laptop on the side and a few writing utensils is who I instantly recognise to be Rosiks Father.

He has a large cigar hanging out of his mouth, it's tilted downwards as is his head as he assesses my form which is hovering by the closed door, poised to run if need be.

He is wearing a suit, at least the top section looks to be so due to his obviously tailored dark green blazer and glistening white undershirt which highlights his broad chest and shoulders.

From his stature to his smirk I can see so much of Rosik in him that I'm instantly disgusted.
The man has his dark hair long and free easily passing his shoulders in graceful waves.
His dark beard with flecks of silver is perfectly manicured and he has one solitary silver piercing in his left ear.

"So you're the girl my son has fallen head over heels for." The mans voice is deep, deeper and darker than any males voice I've heard before and I'm glad that there is a desk separating us.

He made a statement, he wasn't asking me a question but I still felt compelled to answer.

"I'm the girl that your son has grown obsessed with." I manage to grit out without any sign of fear, I lock my knee's for good measure to ensure they don't buckle while the mans smirk only grows.

"I take it that the feeling isn't mutual?" Rosiks Father now questions and I'm glad that he hasn't urged me to sit yet.
With my body being this taut I doubt if I could move without becoming a mess.

I simply nod my head, not wanting to blurt out anything too aggressive about his Son and only getting myself further in deep shit.

"Ah good, this will make the next part all the more easier. Firstly though, you came as a pair didn't you?" The mans English is fluent, he has a slight British accent paired with his English words which surprises me but I try to keep my face as blank as possible at the mention of my cousin.

"Yes. Yes I have." I manage to spit out and removing my good hand from around my body I hang it by my side in an effort to appear more relaxed.

I can tell this man feeds off of fear and I'll be damned if I give him a single drop.

"Your son wishes to buy us both."
I provide as he remains silent and starts randomly writing on a piece of paper on his desk.

"So I've heard." He doesn't even bother to look up from his hasty words and I swallow my annoyance.

"My son has still got lots to learn about what it takes to run this business. He will improve in due-time. This is just another lesson that he must learn from." Rosiks father states and looking closer I notice the grip around his pen is so tight that his knuckles are turning white, I swallow quietly.

"Why have you asked to see me?"
I force myself to question as confusion etches it's way into my features.

At this the man finally stops his writing and leaning back in his chair he takes a large puff of his cigarette before placing it back in its holder.

"I wanted to see what made you so special, so special in fact to have almost ruined my sons future." He now glares at my form and I fight the urge to hug my body once more, the room suddenly feeling stifling.

"I don't understand."

"I don't expect you to. You are after all just another woman. I have had many come through here and many sit on my very lap but one thing is always the same, I form no attachments." At this I bristle and I'm sure my coloured cheeks show my anger which the man only laughs at.

"You're a spitfire, a flicker of excitement but a flicker is all you'll be." He taunts, expecting me to be offended but I'm not angry on my behalf, I wish that I was something Rosik would lose focus of.

I'm angry on behalf of the woman he has forced in this room to please him.

"Rosik doesn't seem to think of me as a flicker." I counter quickly, a glare settling on my features.

"Rosik is too soft. He will learn to harden and you will be the lesson."
He replies ominously and rests his large palms on the desk.

"What the fuck do you mean by that?"
I spit out, now only seeing red as my fist clenches with my teeth.

I'm not liking where this conversation is going but seeing as I can't stop it I might as well make the most of it.

"Watch your tone bitch." The man warns darkly and I square my shoulders and continue my piercing glare yet remain silent.

I'm not going to submit to him, I'm sure as hell letting my feelings be known.

"You're just proving to me that my Son can't handle you." At this I surprise both him and myself by chuckling.

"You've got that right." I breathe out and place my good hand on my hip.

"All the more reason to sell you to someone who can..." My eyes widen and my mouth grows dry as his words sink into my brain.

This is not part of the plan.

This is bad..

Really, really bad.
