Chapter 26 ~ Pop Goes the Weasel.

I manage to keep to the ten minute time limit.

As much as it pains me to lift my exhausted body into a standing position I grit my teeth and manage it, turning the shower off in the process.

Only now do I unwrap my towel momentarily to wipe away the condensation on the mirror and allow my gaze to lightly trail over my worn features.

I breathe deeply and force a sense of serenity over myself as my blood-shot eyes sting.

"You're doing this for Dana."
I whisper forcefully before a knock on the door captures my attention.

"I have some underwear here, I'll pass it to you." Rosik calls out and I shudder at his vile voice.

His obsession with me was never manageable but it was ignorable, now things have spiralled.

How does an individual claim to love someone in under a week?

I don't care how shitty his upbringing was or his Daddy issues, we may be from different countries but we both suffered from those and they are not excuses to act the way he does.

He chose not to be better than his upbringing.
I'm choosing to exceed mine.

I'm not stubborn nor stupid enough to refuse the underwear though. Especially with Rosik being in the mood that he is in.

So slowly I reach forward and unlatch the lock loudly which prompts Rosik to push open the door.
I rush to press my body against it and stick my hand through the gap, impatiently signalling for him to hand them over.

Rosik hands the panties over after a split second however lurks his hand on top of mine for a few unnecessary seconds before I can grasp the fabric and pull away, slamming the door and locking it once more.

I take the time to take a deep breath and congratulate myself on not shaking as I reached out, focusing on the small achievements.

Glancing down I'm once more disgusted by the underwear choice but I'm no longer shocked by it.
It's another thong.

This time black and after slipping it on and wincing I turn to put on my bra and dress which were thrown onto the ground by Rosiks greedy hands earlier.

But as I turn to collect the clothing I only manage to find my bra left on the ground.
I search the whole space even by the toilet but to no avail.

That slimy bastard.

Sighing loudly I clasp on the bra and looking around I resign myself to having to spend the night here in the bathroom.

There are two towels including the one around my body so reluctantly I gather a few toilet rolls and press them together on the floor.

Satisfied with my make-shift pillow I then lie a spare towel on the cold tile and pretend momentarily that I'm throwing my towel over hot sand at the beach but the picture remains bleak.

Just as I shimmy my body into a semi-comfortable position and throw the remaining towel over my body for warmth a knock sounds at the door.

"Go away! I'm sleeping in here."
I shout out and close my eyes, snuggling further into the damp towel with a grimace.

"Come on Kitty, you'll get sick in there! Is this because of the dress? It's not a big deal, it can't be comfortable to sleep in, I was trying to make you feel better!"
Rosik attempts to explain through the door but my resolve remains firm.

"I feel better in here than with you, so kindly fuck off." I retort however I can't find the energy to even be proud of my snide response.

"Kitty, I'm not going to ask again. Come out right now or I will go and get Dana." In this moment I have never wished Dana not to be involved as strongly as right now.

She is the perfect bait for me and everyone knows I'll bite each time.
This whole experience would have been different if Axel had never caught her.
I either would have escaped within the day or got murdered for being too rebellious.

At this stage I'm finding either option far more appealing than my current one.

Grunting and groaning I push off of my makeshift bed, favouring my good arm and sluggishly wrap the towel tightly around my body.
I shuffle over to the door and unlock it, refusing to think it through further and swing open the door revealing the eager Rosik.

He easily peers over my shoulder and chuckles at my invention while I roll my eyes.

"Toilet paper?" He questions and I shrug.

"Yeah I know.. It doesn't really suit my style. Your shitty attitude would be a perfect match though!" I exclaim with such false cheer that I impulsively scowl afterwards due to the bad taste in my mouth.

I brush past Rosik and sit on the edge of the bed, clutching my towel so tightly that the knuckles on my hand have turned white, the only sign of my discomfort as I keep my face blank.

"I'm not sorry for earlier."
Rosik provides as he turns off the bathroom light and then makes his way over to the bed in only a pair of black boxers.

I fight the urge to flee and hold his eye-contact until he pauses in front of me.

"Well at least you're being honest."
I reply glumly and kick my dangling legs as my dislocated wrist begins to lightly throb once more, making me grit my teeth.

"Do you want me to look at your wrist?" Rosik questions softly and without waiting for a response he crouches down to grasp it.

I'm quicker though and manage to push myself into the bed and fold myself over so that I'm covering my sore wrist.

"I'd rather see a doctor." I murmur and continue sliding backwards as Rosik begins to get a gleam in his eyes.

I severely regret choosing the bed to rest on but I need to accept the situation so as Rosik begins crawling on the bed after me I frantically look for ways to deter him.

I chuck a pillow at his head which he swats away easily and suddenly lunges at me, pinning down my arms and legs and I remain perfectly still, not wanting to hurt my wrist further.

"Today has been long for the both of us and tomorrow is going to be longer. I want to sleep." I grit out and breathe heavily through my nose as Rosik lowers his face into my hair and inhales loudly.

"Can we cuddle?" Rosik murmurs and begins pressing his near naked body against mine shrouded in a towel.
I grimace and try to roll over.

"Can we not?" Rosik barks out a laugh but rolls over much to my pleasure.

"It's either cuddling me or being tied up Kitty." Rosik points out and without saying a word I hold out my good arm and position it against the headboard, my choice obvious.

Rosiks chuckle dies down and by the time he's tied my arm securely and a tad too tightly his grin is no where to be seen.

Thankfully Rosik leaves my swollen wrist alone and I grimace as I hold it against my chest tightly, trying to keep it as still as possible assuming that that's the safest thing to do.

Obviously offended Rosik tries to get back at me by ripping my towel off the moment I'm tied up and while I still squirm and swear I'm far more content now compared to in the bathroom.

"So what's the plan once we reach your base? How are you going to manage to buy both Dana and myself?"
I question with a bored tone, trying to ignore how my body breaks out in goosebumps as Rosik props his head up with his hand and starts drawing spirals over my skin with his middle finger.

I'm not expecting to see the inside of that building but I can't put all my eggs in the one basket.
Oliver's plan is risky and I need to be prepared for it to fail.

The chances of Dana stepping in there is near nonexistent as long as she remains with Oliver which I'm sure she's happy to do.
For once I'm glad that she forms crushes on people quickly, her easily gained trust is for once working in favour with our situation.

However by ensuring Dana's safety I've put mine at risk.

I need to make sure that I know what's happening in either scenario and I need to be prepared to fight for my life in either one.

"I've got it all under control Babe. They are expecting us."
Rosik mumbles before leaning forward and forcing our bodies to spoon.

I roll my eyes at his cryptic response but I know the longer I engage with Rosik means the higher risk of him losing control.

So sighing loudly a final time to quell the urge to have a panic attack I try my hardest to ignore his hot skin flush against mine and force myself to close my eyes and slowly relax my muscles.

I try to stay awake longer than Rosik, I'm not sure what that would achieve except a sense of accomplishment but today has by far been one of the most draining days of my life.

So I don't fight too hard as my mind starts to wander and I don't feel Rosik press tighter against me and groan, all I feel is dazed and soon sleep takes over.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next morning we're up early.
Or rather Rosik is as he speaks hushed into his phone across the room.
Opening my eyes a crack I notice him fully clothed in brown jeans and a black shirt with damp hair and I feel relief knowing that he won't ask me to shower with him again.
The curtains are still drawn shut but as I silently sit up I see a brief glimmer of the sunrise peeking through.
I'm happy to see that my wrist is no longer tied up however as I glance at my other wrist my throat seizes up.
There is severe dark bruising from my wrist all the way down to my fingers and as I try to flex my hand I can't help but let out a muffled cry.
I vaguely notice Rosik mumble something in Russian to the person on the phone before hanging up and rushing over to my side.
"Shhh Kitty it's okay! This is normal, we just need to pop it back in place." Rosik tries to calm me but just looking in his eyes causes panic to ensue.
I shake my head widely and sniff as the throbbing calms down once more.
"Y-You're not trained in first aid are you?" I question through clenched teeth and Rosiks worried expression answers my question instantly.
"Can you ask O-Eric if he knows first-aid?" I whisper staring once again at my multicoloured hand with both disgust and fear.
"No I can do it Kitty, it can't be that hard." Rosik continues and grasps my wrist pulling it towards him.
The reaction is immediate and a loud scream explodes from me and my body trembles madly.
Rosik lets go of me instantly and holds his hands up in a surrendering motion while swearing softly.
"Please." I beg and finally listening to me Rosik nods once before spinning around and heading to the door quickly.
Reaching into his pocket while walking Rosik pulls out his knife and I follow his fluid movement as he slices easily through the zip tie covering the lock.
Rosik glances at my pitiful form one last time before jogging out the door and I fight the urge to stick the middle finger at him with my good hand.
Once Rosik is out of sight I briefly humour the idea of locking myself in and calling the front desk for help but the thought only lasts a second.
As long as they have Dana, they have me.
I hear a door open and close loudly which I assume to be Oliver's room and I calmly sit and wait.
Seconds later I hear another door open in the opposite direction and suddenly hyper-aware of the door being wide open and my body covered in little-to-nothing I panic and throw the blanket over my body.
But my shoulders slump as Axel shuffles into view scratching his stomach and yawning before catching sight of me.
"So did he do it?" Axel crudely questions as he slides in the room and I glare at his sudden unwelcome presence.
I remain silent not believing Axel to be worthy of a response.
Axel continues to walk in until he is at the end of the bed, I remain still and keeping my glare fixated I don't let him know how uncomfortable he is making me.
Axel stares hard into my eyes and I don't look away, silently challenging each other he continues to search for something I don't know about.
"Nope. Thank God!" He exclaims and I arch my eyebrow.
"What makes you so sure?"
I question honestly, I feel like absolute shit so what is he seeing?
"You're not broken." Is all he provides before sitting next to me on the bed.
I tense and stare at him dumbfounded as he makes himself comfortable, he isn't touching me but his arm is close.
"What are you doing?" I question, I'm not afraid of Axel but his emotions switch quicker than anybody else's, it isn't hard to hurt me right now and I'm aware of his hatred towards Dana and myself.
"Your wrist looks nasty." Is Axels response, completely ignoring my question and I roll my eyes before hiding my grotesque hand, slightly self-conscious.
"Do you want me to pop it back in place?" He continues and I glance at him quickly.
"Shouldn't you of all people want me to stay in pain for as long as possible?
You hate me."
I point out, refusing to move over on the bed and we both stare at the open door as the sound of a lock opening echoes through the hall.
"I don't hate you. I'm just not forgetting what you are." The sound of footsteps are approaching quickly and I'm surprised Axel hasn't leaped off the bed yet.
"And that is?" I murmur and the steps are now accompanied with hush voices as Rosik explains the situation to his company.
"A pay-check." I scoff at his description and share a look with him that strongly disagrees with his statement.
"Well Rosik is wasting his pay-check by buying us back." I point out just as Rosik comes thundering back into the room, Oliver and Dana hot on his heels.
"What is going on in here?!"
Rosik thunders as his eyes take in the scene and subconsciously I pull my wrist closer to my chest.
The hairs on the back of my neck standing up.
Oliver and Dana stare at me in shock and I realise how pathetic I must look with tear tracks seemingly indented in my cheeks, obviously little clothing and a wrist that swollen triple its size.
I'm an absolute mess.
"What the hell Rosik!" Axel thunders back equally as loudly before pushing himself onto his feet with a groan and slowly strides over to the nearest wall and leans his weight on it with arms crossed.
"You're not buying these girls. That's against protocol." Axel spits out and I notice that even though he is confronting Rosik he is a lengthy distance away from him, Axel's fear still prominent.
"Stay out of my business Axel and Kitty stop trying to start problems."
All eyes return to me and I make sure to keep my expression as ferocious as possible towards the two villains in the room.
Purely for the sake of our cover I keep a scowl on my face even as Oliver slowly approaches me.
"Are you trained in first-aid?"
I ask roughly as Oliver pauses at my form and now with his back to everyone in the room but me he allows all his concern to consume his features.
He gives a stiff nod as Axel speaks up again, upset that he's not being taken seriously.
"No. This isn't okay. You can't have interest in your own parcels, you taught me that Rosik! Base won't be happy." Axel cuts in and rolling his eyes Rosik reluctantly turns from Oliver and myself and faces Axel, pinning him with a glare.
Dana hovers awkwardly before I softly incline my head and she quickly scurries over to me and sits beside me on the bed.
"What would you know of base? You have never been there."
Rosik is remaining frustratingly calm and it is driving Axel insane as red blotches consume his skin around his neck and face.
"It's not fair!" He shouts like a petulant child and I half expect him to stomp his foot but instead he simply clenches his fists and glares at the ground.
Silently Oliver reaches out and without being prompted I carefully place my wrist in his open hand, wincing at the soft pressure.
Oliver pokes around for a while, a frown still present and I try to ignore Dana's look of disgust as she takes in the gruesome scene.
"I have to pop it back in place."
Oliver murmurs and I quickly nod my head, squaring my shoulders.
I would sit up straighter but I'd rather not reveal anymore of my bare body to the room.
This scene already looks bad enough.
I don't need more pity.
"Is this because of that one girl we had?" Rosik questions and Axel's gaze sharpens as he takes a wonky step forward towards Rosik.
Even I'm surprised at his courage and all three of us huddled by the bed pause and watch the scene.
"She wasn't just any girl. Her name was Lucy and I liked her Rosik!
You wouldn't let me fucking have her." Axel spits out and I'm reminded of a child not getting the lolly he wanted and I fight the urge to roll my own eyes. I don't need the attention right now.
"That was months ago, I thought you were over this.. Besides this is different." Rosik growls out obviously annoyed at having to deal with Axel at such an early hour but I can see that Axel won't let this go easily.
"How the fuck is it different? We took her and I made a connection.
You told me it was too dangerous to keep her and you made me let her go at the airport. She didn't want to go."
I purse my lips and bite back a rude response as they talk about this girl like an object.
Now Lucy has been added to my ever-growing list of people we need to save.
I hope she's alive.
"It just is different! I've already cleared it with base, they know what's happening and they are the only ones that need to know. You'll get your money." Rosik spits out and now I notice his scar on his neck start to swell as the tension in the room rises.
My wrist throbs in response as I tense but I try to ignore it, something big is happening.
"Why wasn't I given that choice? Why couldn't I have spoken to base? I would have done it for Lucy." Axel rushes out and I notice the anger begin to sap out of him as he reminisces about this 'Lucy' character.
She was most likely just as disgusted with him as the rest of us but I doubt if I'll ever know.
"Base wouldn't listen to you."
Rosik scoffs and his foot begins to tap as he glances at us three around the bed, my wrist still in Oliver's possession and a glare forms over his features.
"Why? You think you're such top shit but news flash. You ain't! You're a nobody just like me- " Axel returns solemnly and slowly makes his way over to the small kitchen table, settling in a chair and decides on staring at his hands.
A picture of utter sadness but all I can see is karma.
"I am nothing like you! I am the base!" Rosik pushes out, offended.
"Just because you're the only Russian in the room doesn't make you 'the base' Rosik." Axel replies and I continue feeling confused, it's almost like we're awkwardly watching a lovers spat.
"You don't understand, you never have. I am the base. My father created it and I am going to run it one day when he steps down. I have been enjoying my field trips for the last few years and investigating our delivery workers through various branches. You were my newest case." Rosik releases the torrent of words so quickly that the reactions are left delayed as his desperate words fills our minds.
Rosiks confession has obviously been on his mind for a while because after admitting the truth his shoulders slump and he takes a deep breath.
"So you're the boss?" Oliver quietly questions and Rosik drags his gaze back over to us and nods his head before forcing himself to stand tall once again.
"Now hurry the fuck up and fix her wrist. We are leaving soon."
Rosik's back cracks as he straightens and I cringe, causing his eyes to flutter to mine and instantly cool.
I glance away instantly but the effect is already in place as Rosik mellows out and joins Axel at the table.
"After this we are done." Axel states darkly once Rosik has sat down and he nods once before facing his body towards us three huddled together.
"I knew we were the moment I saw her."
I pretend not to hear Rosiks frightening words but I know the other two do as Dana sniffles and Oliver turns back to me stiffly.
I avoid both of their eyes and instead focus on gripping the blanket with my good hand and staring harshly at the open door.
Oliver was smart choosing this seemingly abandoned hotel.
Even with all the screaming that just took place there is still nobody roaming the halls and part of me is glad that I don't have to think up an excuse for this scene if somebody did wander by.
"This is going to hurt a lot."
Oliver explains and I wince as he gets a firmer grip on both my wrist and the crook of my elbow.
"Careful there buddy, you almost sound like you care." I tease out but Oliver picks up on my warning as we both feel Rosiks sharp presence take in everything we say and do.
"Do you want me to count down?" Oliver questions with a forced edge of sarcasm to blend in.
"Life is far more fun when it's spontan-" I begin but Oliver is one step ahead and quickly forces my wrist to extend.
A scream bursts through my throat and I feel Dana's hands wrap around my shoulders as she tries to console me.
"Don't!" I choke out at the same time as Rosik commands it and Dana quickly takes away her hands and hugs herself as I continue to puff out brief screams.
"Shit it didn't go in. I need to try again." Oliver exclaims and I cut my eyes to his bright blue ones.
"What the actual fu-" I'm once again jerked in an unnatural position and this time I see black spots as I hear a dull, scraping, popping noise fill the room.
Dana begins to heave and flies into the bathroom, slamming the door behind her.
The black spots continue to invade my vision and vaguely I feel Oliver let go of my body suddenly.
Another pair of hotter hands take his place and grasp my shoulders, holding me up.
"Shhh it's okay Kitty, I'm here, it's okay." Rosik coo's and as much as his presence is alarming it's not alarming enough to keep me conscious.
With no food or water in my system I'm already weak, I'm not capable of handling this trauma right now so my head heavily hangs backwards and I'm out like a light.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Please wake up Katie!" I hear Dana beg and drawing on strength that I wasn't sure I had I force my eyes open and take in my new surrounding.

Hyper and focused as I assess the danger.

"Knew that would work." Rosik gloats from beside me and with my head still foggy my mind slowly pieces together the scene.

We are all crammed back in the car except this time Dana and Axel have swapped seats.
Axel is staring out the front window with a scowl while Dana is happily pressed against my side and is staring at me with extreme worry.

Oliver is focused on the road as it has started to pour down rain but he graces me with one quick glance to confirm that I'm not dead, I suppose.

Rosik has his arms wrapped around my waist and as I look down I notice my sore arm is in a makeshift sling made out of a long-sleeve shirt.

With a jolt I notice that my body is dressed once again in the dress that I've despised since the moment I saw it and I glance at Rosik, accusation strongly present in my eyes.

"I just had a little feel." Rosik purrs once more in my ear and I shudder as he tightens his hold around my waist.

"How long until we reach the airport?" I ask no one in particular, disappointed by how weak my voice sounds.

It's timid and quiet and as Rosik nuzzles his way into my neck I can tell that he can feel my fluttering pulse as he grins.

"We're in the vicinity but still have some time to kill. Do you want to get some food?" Oliver asks and Dana nods enthusiastically having had little of her dinner the night before.

I'm glad Dana was so enthused because I didn't want to show my own even though my stomach is cramped so tightly that it's actually grown firm.

Rosik can't know how much he is wearing me down, he'll only get a kick out of it.

"I want maccas." Axel grumbles just as the tacky yellow M makes it's appearance around the next turn.

Pulling up through the drive-through everyone starts stating their orders to Oliver.
Thankfully Rosik doesn't try to alter my order of a bacon and egg McMuffin however he does copy it with a wink in my direction.

We eat quickly while Oliver continues to drive and although the food was much needed I can't help but feel nauseous but I'm determined to keep it down this time.
I need all the energy I can get.

Dana was the last to finish again, her hot cakes filling the car with the smell of maple syrup and Oliver struggles to see through the foggy windows from the steam of the food.

"Is this the right strip?"
Oliver questions and only now does Rosik take his hands off of me and presses his face against the window, wiping away the fog with his hand.
He stares for a few moments before a smile takes over his features.

"Yep, this is it and they're ready to go." I give up trying to squint through the windows and take advantage of Rosiks guard being lifted and quickly hold Dana's hand momentarily, squeezing it tightly and giving her a soft smile of encouragement.

Her eyes are wide and her lip is trembling but thankfully there are no tears, she has cried enough for a lifetime in this past week.

It'll all be over soon though, she just needs to be strong for a little longer.

Oliver parks the car and with excitement evident in his eyes he abandons his rubbish on the car floor before opening his door and leaving. Axel follows suit a frown indented in his face but I can see traces of eagerness in his eyes.
Finally Rosik turns back to us girls and I manage to release Dana's hand before he can see.

"Do I need to zip tie you?"
Rosik questions, staring only at me and I shake my head firmly.

"You couldn't even if you tried."
I point out looking down at my sling and Rosik gives me a warning look before opening his door.

The rain is barrelling down now and he is drenched the moment he straightens his large body by the car.
I hear the opposite car door open and I whip around to see Oliver beckoning Dana out.

My body relaxes, glad that he is following the plan and staying with Dana the whole time.

I take a deep breath before sliding my way out of the car on Rosiks side.

He grasps my shoulders tightly, obviously fearing that I'll run at any given moment but I'm surprisingly docile.
I'm trusting Oliver on this, I just hope that he knows what he's doing.

My hair flattens and moulds around my head and I instantly shiver as my dress becomes a second skin.

There is a small plane waiting for us with the steps down and there are two men waiting at the bottom.
Axel reaches them first and after hesitating for a moment he remains silent and stomps up the stairs, relying on the rail for support before disappearing inside.

Rosik and I are next and as we get closer I notice both men have stern faces, matching dark moustaches that are sagging in the rain and matching pilot outfits as a disguise.

"Они хорошо себя ведут." One of the men states with surprise evident and I feel all three look down at me.

I'm confused and scared but refuse to show it so I use my signature glare on each of them before looking away, tapping my foot impatiently.

"теперь." Is Rosiks quick reply and I feel his suspicion weigh heavily on me.

Keeping my head held high Rosik begins dragging me up the stairs and while I slip a few times I manage to stay upright the entire time much to my joy.

I glance behind me just before disappearing inside the plane and I'm glad to see Dana and Oliver are just a few steps behind.
Oliver's look of excitement is starting to grate on my nerves and after giving him a sharp look he thankfully catches on and sends me an apologetic look in response before Rosik forces me to look forward again with a sharp tug.

This is it, I think to myself as I settle in a stock standard plane seat with Rosik by my side and I keep my gaze out the small window.

I'm leaving behind everything I know, Dana and I are truly entering unknown terrain and I honestly have no idea what to expect.

I've always wanted to travel but this definitely wasn't what I had in mind.
