Mori Ougai [Long Live]
(Y/n) wrapped herself in her bathrobe and came back to the bedroom, ready to jump in bed after that exhausting day.
She sat down on the edge of the bed and threw her back on the mattress.
"Are you planning on sleeping there tonight?" Asked an amused voice.
She felt Mori getting up from the bed, but she didn't mind until the man drew her attention.
"Hey, (Y/n)."
"I'm tired."
"Don't you want to see what I have for you?"
She puffed sitting herself on the bed.
She made eye contact with an amused Mori and then she noticed the position he was in and, above all, what he was showing her.
A sapphires-encrusted ring in a velvet box.
She looked at the jewel speechless.
"(Y/n), will you marry me?"
"Yes."
She whispered, dazed.
She was confused, but not about her answer.
She would never been confused about it.
There was nothing she could desire more than this.
Mori put the ring on her finger.
"It fits perfectly..."
"Do you really think I haven't taken measurements before taking this step?" Mori asked softly.
(Y/n) chuckled and bent down to kiss him.
"Have you really asked my hand? I'm not dreaming, am I?"
Mori cupped her face in his hands.
"No, you're not dreaming. You're going to be the boss' consort."
(Y/n) kissed him again starting crying.
"I'm happy you've accepted."
"I doubt you'd ever asked me if you weren't sure of the answer, I know you too well."
Mori sighed and he sat down next to her on the bed.
He took her hand in his, gently caressing her fingers.
"Sometimes I can't believe you're here with me. When Natsume sensei framed this in me, I thought I was going to lose you."
(Y/n) clasped his hands in turn.
She brought them up to her mouth gently kissing them.
"I'm so glad to have stayed. I can't even imagine how I'd be now without you."
Both their minds went back to that fateful moment when their lives changed forever.
"Natsume has proposed to you what???"
"You've heard well, (Y/n)." Mori answered unmoved.
"Tell me you're joking."
"I wish it was a joke."
"To become the Mafia's boss? Had he thought about the big sacrifice you'll have to make in order to fulfil such a request???"
The gaze she saw in her lover made her understand that Rintarou knew the consequences. He knew what this meant for him.
For them.
(Y/n) and Mori were trying to leave their lives in the dark behind.
They wanted a family together. More Mori than (Y/n).
And that variable risked screwing up all their projects and for a while the lovers weren't able to communicate without quarreling.
At some point they even thought it was time to take separate ways and (Y/n) was almost doing it, but then she'd tried to calm down and to think about it.
She knew about the influence Natsume had on Mori, but she also knew there must be a reason why he had chosen Mori for this.
She was afraid.
They were finally taking their path, while now it seemed darkness had decided to claim the.
Ultimately, she decided to stay with Mori.
She couldn't bear the idea of being far away from him.
So, she had witnessed with her own eyes to the death of the previous Mafia's boss.
The end of a decade, but the start of an age.
An age in which her Rintarou held his head like a hero.
The early days weren't easy, and Mori had almost regretted that (Y/n) hadn't left him before.
Because at that moment not everyone acknowledged him as a Boss, (Y/n) could be an easy target for everyone who wanted to aim at him.
She was his only weakness.
And he hated having a weakness, but he hated more being forced to expose his lovers to all these dangers.
They often quarreled about it, but (Y/n) didn't give up and kept remembering him that it was too late.
Everyone knew about their bond.
It didn't make sense to separate at that point. She insisted that being with him could allow him to control her and defend her better.
Not to mention that (Y/n) didn't really need Mori, with her ability she knew how to defend herself.
Her ability was quite fearsome once you experienced it.
Chinmoku no tou, once activated, the victim was attacked by crows that kept pecking until (Y/n) decided to end the torture.
That was the most difficult period that put a strain on their relationship due to the guilty Mori felt towards her. He thought it was his fault to have condemn her to hell.
But their bond grew stronger.
They had the time of their life fighting dragons and overcoming mountains.
Always together.
As Mori was officially accepted as the Port Mafia's boss everything become easier.
(Y/n) was still his biggest weakness, but nobody would ever dare to come closer to her.
Mori would have never allowed it.
And if that happened the victim must face (Y/n)'s ability.
Therefore, after some years Mori had thought, the day had come to formalize their love on paper.
Natsume's plan had certainly taken some time away from them, but it didn't mean they had to give up their dreams.
A few months later (Y/n) walked down the aisle in her wedding gown.
The Mafia's members were there to testify their union. That Mafia of which (Y/n) was so afraid at the beginning, but now it seemed like a big family to her.
(Y/n) and Mori knew there was one last thing left to fulfill their dreams.
They've tried to speak about it before the ceremony, but just after it they had the courage to be honest.
They both knew it was an egoistic choice, but they wanted a real family, their own children.
It was the dream that gave them strength in the past and they didn't want to give it up.
One year later (Y/n) gave birth to their firstborn, she was adored not only by Mori, but also from everyone in the Mafia who was close enough to the boss.
The two were happy to have listened to their hearts and to have taken the best decision for them.
They had the best years together and they were sure life had in store other things for them.

Back to Mori ❤❤❤, I treat it with kid gloves <3
This can be considered as an alternative ending to Back to December with some extra joy XD
In this case the skill (only briefly mentioned rip) is inspired by a work by Mori Ōgai himself: Chinmoku no tō "the tower of silence", with tower of silence referring to the structures used by Parsi communities to punish; the person is left on these towers at the mercy of natural disasters and vultures, hence my idea for the skill of (Y/n). In Ōgai's text, the offence committed was to have read Western texts because for that culture, science was considered dangerous; so he then takes the opportunity to extend the thought to Japan and propose a reflection on freedom of thought.
See you next week with Ours!!!
