Yesterday my family and I went to a zoo that's approximately two hours away from where I live. After several hours of walking and looking at various animals, we had dinner at an outdoor mall nearby the zoo (which was really amazing). Anyway, after we left and got onto the highway, a major traffic jam occurred. We didn't find out about what it was until we got closer and noticed the police cars coming.

Basically, we got stuck in a crime scene. What happened was that an armed robbery occurred at a mall in the area and the robbers (there were about five) were trying to escape. They ditched their car at the highway and the police had to start an investigation. Apparently a police officer was gunned down by the criminals too and died. Anyway, the entire area was blocked off and all the people who were stopped in that area stayed there. People were fleeing by driving on the hill and/or driving backwards to escape to the other lane (which was a hilarious sight). While that was happening, the police used the K-9 unit to search for the criminals and there were still a lot of people in that section of the highway (including my family). Occasionally some officers and helicopters would make announcements on what's happening to keep everyone informed. About two ambulances and large tow trucks came into the area. Meanwhile, I was crouching down underneath the window just in case any bullets started flying. Since I really can't remember what exactly happened, the entire investigation lasted over an hour and no bullets were fired. About half of the group is still free. Overall, it really wasn't that scary for some reason. I need to stop rambling.
