11: TORN HEARTS, BURNT MARKS

Chapter Eleven: not edited

Rory was heartbroken - not because he was inflicted with some kind of pain, no, he was more horrified over the recent event that happened in his life. Rory, Sam, and Dean had went on a hunt to battle some kind of creature who could only be destroyed by electricity, and somehow Dean had ended in the crossfire - making him get electrocuted to the point he went unconscious.

Of course he was trying to hold onto hope that the eldest Winchester would be fine, but from the looks of it, he had hit it hard. Sam was taking it the hardest, and Rory didn't know how to help him. How was he supposed to give advice when the closest member in his family was hurt badly? And how was he supposed to reassure Sam that Dean would be all right. He needed to be strong, yet he didn't know how.

Currently, Rory and Sam where at the hospital - waiting for news from the doctors. Both of them stood by the receptionist, talking silently among each other while the lady up front typed up some information about Dean.

"Sir, I'm so sorry to ask. There doesn't seem to be any insurance on file." The receptionist says, looking up from her computer.

"It's no problem." Sam gave her a fake smile before handing over one of his credit cards. He was about to make another comment but decided not to when he saw the look Rory was giving him. It wasn't the receptionist fault that they did something stupid.

"Sam." Rory frowned when he saw him walk away after taking back his card. He couldn't stand seeing the boy hurt. It pained him to see anyone he cares about that way. "Sam, wait up. Please stop walking so fast."

"I need to see Dean."

"Just hold on." He went to grab his arm but Sam shrugged it off quickly, not in the mood to be coddled by anyone. Rory stood there and watched him walk off with a small frown on his face.

Rory wasn't trying to be hurt by his reaction because he knew how much Sam was hurting, yet he couldn't but feel a tad bit responsible since he was the one that encouraged the hunt in the first place. In the end, how was he supposed to know that Dean would go on a rampage and get himself hurt? He isn't a mind reader nor can he see the future like some psychic.

A few seconds later, a tap on his shoulder made him turn around to see two police officers standing behind him. One was sturdy while the other was a bit heavy set, both of them were clean cut.  With a sigh, he gave them a polite smile, and motioned for one of them to ask their question.

"How long have you known the two guys in the room?" One of the police officers questioned, looking down at his notebook before locking eyes with Rory.

"For a couple months now." He responded respectfully. "I'm currently on the road with them."

The officer nodded, scribbling down in his notes. "Now the tall guy said you guys were taking a shortcut through the neighborhood, and some screaming was heard. You guys ran in and saw the kids in the basement."

Rory nodded. "Sounds right."

They talked for a few more minutes before the blonde parted ways to go find Sam before he does something stupid. He didn't know what he can do, but knowing Sam, it'll probably be something drastic. So with a huff, Rory walked faster down the hall to see the tall figure of Sam Winchester leaning against the wall.

"Sam-"

"He wants to talk to you." Sam cut the boy off.

"Oh great. He's probably going to scold me for being annoying." He rolled his eyes but gave him a soft look when Sam cracked a small smile, but it quickly went away.

Rory saw a sign on the wooden door that clearly stated, 'please knock before entering,' so that's what he did. When he walked into the room, he instantly cringed at the sight of Dean laying on the bed. He was pale, very pale that he looked almost like a ghost. It was kind of ironic since that's what they hunt.

"Have you ever watched this crap?" Dean says, not even looking up to see who walked into the room. "It's terrible."

"Sue the hospital for bad television then." The blonde joked, walking further into the room.

Dean glanced up at the sound of his voice. "Oh it's you."

"Yeah, Sam said you asked for me." Rory stood in front of his bed, a frown on his face. "I'm not in trouble, am I?"

"Do you need to be in trouble?" Dean raised an eyebrow while trying to sit up but a loud groan escaped his lips. "That hurt like a bitch."

"Then stop moving like an idiot, Dean."

Dean glanced at him before laughing softly. "I like you, kid. You have spirit."

"Weird. I thought you hated me." Rory muttered but Dean heard him anyways.

"Hate you? No, I don't hate you, Rory." He shook his head. "We may have our differences but I never hated you."

Rory could see the honesty in his eyes - something that he never thought would happen to him. Dean was that type of person for no chick flic moments, and he understands that, but when the eldest Winchester started to tell him the truth, he couldn't help but have respect for him.

"Well, that's good."

Dean continued to speak. "I can see the way you look at my brother. It's something that I was scared of, you know? I didn't want his heart broken again, especially since he just lost the love of his life. But I can tell you'll be different, so please watch out for him, okay? Make sure he doesn't do anything stupid. Promise me."

"I promise, Dean."

"Sam, I don't think this is a good idea."

Out of all the ideas Sam Winchester could think of, going to a faith healer was the craziest. He knew that his brother needed help but this is asking for a miracle in the workings. Rory had his faith but that doesn't mean he can't be skeptic on the whole ordeal. Knowing Dean, he was going to be against it.

"What other choices do I have, Rory? My brother is dying, and I'm the only one who can fix it."

"I understand, Sam. But this is out of line. Going to a faith healer- by the way, you still haven't explained to me what that is still, is wrong."

"How's it out of line? What's so bad with me wanting to help my brother?"

"Absolutely nothing. But you know there will be risks-"

"Maybe, maybe not."

There is a knock on the door and Sam looks up quickly, tears in his eyes. He walked over the door, and opens it up to reveal his brother leaning against the jam, looking terrible. The blonde, who went quiet, seemed surprised to see him out of the hospital. Why on earth is he out of there?

"What the hell are you doing here?" Sam was surprised, happy and confused all at once.

"I checked myself out."

"Of course you did." Rory placed his hands over his face in exasperation.

"I know, Rory. You're definitely happy to see me." Dean gave him a cocky smile which turned into a frown when he saw the look on his brother's face. "What?"

"Are you crazy?" Sam threw his hands in the air. "Don't answer that by the way."

Dean enters the room, leaning on everything within reach. "Well, I'm not gonna die in a hospital where the nurses aren't even hot." He shrugs and sits in one of the chairs, glancing up at Sam who was quietly laughing. "What? It's true."

"He has a point. None of them were hot." Rory spoke up with a grin. "Sam, you should sign up to be one." He winked, making Sam flush all over.

"Just because I'm dying doesn't mean you can flirt with my brother in front of me still." Dean sent him a glare before coughing loudly. "I feel great though."

Sam shook his head. "You know, this whole I-laugh-in-the-face-of-death thing? It's crap. I can see right through it."

"Yeah, whatever, dude." He says while gripping the ends of his jacket. He examined Sam's face before speaking. "Have you even slept? You look worse than me."

"I've been scouring the Internet for the last three days calling every contact in Dad's journal."

"For what?"

"For a way to help you, Dean. One of Dad's friends, Joshua, he called me back. Told me about a guy in Nebraska, a specialist."

"You're not gonna let me die in peace, are you?"

"I'm not gonna let you die, period. We're going."

While Sam and Dean went off to do who knows what, Rory decided to stay in town, close to the motel and bar. He didn't want to go off with them since he knew Dean would be laughing at the face of death and Sam would be moping around - something that Rory didn't want to witness himself.

After his parents died in the house fire when he was younger, after Jess dying the same way, he couldn't bear the thought of losing Sam or Dean. Even though they haven't known each other for long, he felt like he known them for ever.

"One beer please." Rory held up his finger, signaling for the bartender to get him something. When the bartender nodded, the blonde gave him a look of thanks.

"Drinking again, I see?" A familiar voice spoke from behind him, making the blonde turn to see Leo standing there with a friendly smile on his face. "We really need to stop meeting like this."

"You're telling me." He grabbed the beer that was handed towards him. "So what are you doing here?"

"I could ask you the same thing." Leo gave him a look. "Why are you drinking again? Since you know your friend is dying."

Rory, who had a huge mouthful of beer, spit it out all over the counter. "I don't know what you're talking about."

"Yes-"

The blonde pushed himself off the bar stool, narrowing his eyes. "Wait. How do you know about my friend? Are you stalking me?"

"Whoa. Hold on. I have family there, and I saw you in the hospital and over heard the conversation between you and your friend." Leo held his hands up in defense. "No need to get defensive."

"Sorry, it's been a rough week." Rory sighed as he took a seat back on the bar stool.

"I guess the sight of death can do that to you." Leo commented, earning a snort from the blonde.

"You're telling me."

Leo cleared his throat, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "So have you tapped that boy yet?"

Rory, who was drinking some of his beer, started to choke on it. He coughed loudly before turning his attention back to the man. "Who do you think I am?"

"A good looking guy who desperately needs to get some."

Rory snorted. "Oh, I get some, just not with Sam. He's been through so much, and he deserves better than he already has."

Leo frowned. "What do you mean?"

"It's not my place to say anything. I can hear Dean now if I say something about their life."

"I guess it's not as exciting as it sounds." He mused out loud.

"You're telling me."

"You're telling me what?" Another familiar voice said out loud— making both Leo and Rory turn to see Dean Winchester standing there with his younger brother behind him.

"Are my eyes deceiving me or is Dean pie eating Winchester alive?" Rory gave him a smirk before grinning when Sam started to laugh at what he said. "Come here man." He got up from his seat and pulled Dean into a tight hug, which surprised the eldest boy to no end.

"It's good to see you as well." Dean returned the hug. When they pulled apart, Dean took a step back and pushed Sam in front of him. "Sammy here has something to say."

Rory raised one of his eyebrows when Sam started to stutter. "Uh, um, okay. Look I'm sorry for being rude to you earlier. I was just angry and I shouldn't have brought it on you. So what I'm trying to say is I'm sorry."

"Apology accepted."

Leo, who was waiting on the side, smiled. "Well, since this is over, can we finish getting drunk now? I need some release."

"I like your thinking." Dean gave him a nod before taking offered beer out of the raven haired males hand.

So that's how the night went. All of them drinking, talking, and having fun. But who knew how much this would last when a job like Sam and Deans was still out in the open. Their happiness would be short lived, especially since trouble was on the horizon.

I'm so sorry for the long wait. I've been so busy with life that I had completely gave up writing for a bit. But now I'm back hooray. Guys lets try to give more votes and comments-- that gives me more motivation to write these chapters for you.

Yeah, I know Leo, Sam, and Dean briefly met before but at the moment they don't care lmao. But I ship Leo and Dean, even when they haven't said much to each other haha.
