03: DIVING INTO DARK WATERS
Chapter three: not edited
As Rory rested his head against the window, he couldn't help but welcome the sleep he needed so bad. He knew that Sam and Dean wouldn't need him at the moment - their minds were to preoccupied with the troubles that wait for them at their destination. Both brothers had their eyes peeled on the road while Rory drifted off into the dream world.
Truth be told, Rory had no idea what kind of dreams would greet him. Would he dream about his parents dying? Or would it be a mock dream about how Jessica died on the ceiling? According to Sam, he was the one who found her. Rory couldn't help but think how painful Jessica's death must have been. The way she was pinned to the ceiling with no chance of getting down or how flames engulfed her body, burning the bare flesh off her bones. As Rory slept, the only thing he could imagine was life without his sister.
"Hey Rory." A hand started to stir him out of his sleep - but he couldn't detect who it was. When the dream world went away, the blonde was met by warm colored eyes. "You need to get up. We just arrived to the Carlton's house."
"Go away." The blonde swatted his hand away, earning a huff of annoyance from the youngest Winchester. He didn't even realize both of the brothers had walked out of the car, until it was too late - which made him end up face first in the ground since Sam had decided to open the door to his side when he was trying to situate himself. "What the hell? My face doesn't deserve this."
Dean let out a laugh. "Come on, pretty boy. It's time to get to work."
"Oh, yeah?" Rory mimicked his voice before knocking the light haired man off the ground. As soon as Dean hit the ground, Sam couldn't contain his laughter.
"I'm sorry, but that was just amusing."
Rory's eyes trained on Sam Winchester's figure, how his back bones were contorting with each laugh that left his mouth. When the younger boy turned his attention to the blonde, a small smile crept on his face - a smile so soft that it could light up the whole room. Rory had no clue why he was checking out Sam. It wasn't like he had a chance with him.
"So, are you guys going to stay there all day? Or are we actually going to get some work done?" Sam grinned when he saw the look of annoyance appear on his brother's face.
"Shut up Sam."

The blonde glanced around, his eyes trained on every detail of the lake as possible. It looked normal, but who knew what dark secrets actually laid under the calm waters. Whoever made this spirit or whatever it's called mad, they have a whole new ball game ahead of them. That's exactly what the Winchester boy's thought when they saw Bill Carlton sitting on a bench that oversees the water.
"She was about a hundred yards out." Will Carlton pointed out to the lake. He was young, maybe around in his early 20's. "That's where she got dragged down."
"And you're sure she didn't just drown?"
Rory wanted to smack some sense in Dean at that statement. Yes, they're trying to find out what happened, but have some sympathy for the poor kid - he just lost his sister. Out of all the people, Rory should know how that feels like. Losing someone that shares blood isn't easy. Hell, it shouldn't be easy on anyone unless they're some stone cold person.
"She was a varsity swimmer." Will informed them.
"Which means, she can swim, Dean." Rory announced to the eldest Winchester - who by the way looked like he wanted to slap the blonde in the face. "If you didn't know."
"Oh, I know that. Thank you very much." Dean stated sarcastically, a glare on his face.
"No problem." He sent a wink towards the man, who seemed shock by his action.
He wasn't used to flirting, but ever since his eyes landed on the two gorgeous Winchester's, he couldn't help it. Don't get him wrong, Dean was attractive, and he was sure that if the older man asked him out, he would say yes - but he wasn't his type. Rory had a specific type of personalities, and Sam Winchester fit the picture perfectly.
"Look if you don't mind, I mean- he didn't see anything and he's kind of been through a lot." The boy stated sadly, glancing at his father, who was looking out over the lake.
"We understand." The blonde gave him a look of sympathy. When Sam and Dean turned to walk away from the kid - Rory stayed back. "Listen, I know none of my words will make you feel better, but it'll get easier. Just remain strong for your family, especially for your father- don't let him grieve alone."
➼
"So why can't I go with you guys?"
The three of them had just gotten back to Rory's motel room when Dean decided that the blonde should just stay there while he handles this case with Sam alone. Even though Dean and him had a moment at the Carlton's house, the man still didn't trust the blonde. He knew Sam felt the same way, but it wasn't as bad as his brothers.
"We don't want some newbie screwing up our case." Dean stated flatly while setting his bag down on one of the extra beds. "Secondly, I don't trust you."
Rory raised an eyebrow. "So why are you staying in my motel room if you don't trust me?"
"I don't know, ask Sam. It was his idea."
A squawk of protest came out of the taller boy that was across the room - folding some of his clothes into his bag. Rory turned to look at him, a smirk spreading on his face when he thought of his next comment.
"So it was your idea, huh? What are you trying to do, Sam? Get in my bed?"
"I-uh, huh-" Sam's stuttering was cut off by a scraping chair going across the room. Saved by his older brother, the man had managed to pull Sam out of the room before he could embarrass himself even more.
"Oh this is going to be so fun." He smirked while he watched the Impala pull out of the motel's parking lot.
He knew that Sam wouldn't fully trust him until he proves himself, but that wouldn't mean he won't have fun. Which means, flirting and embarrassing Sam as much as possible. Rory doesn't know why he found it amusing.
A couple hours later, Rory found himself falling asleep in the middle of the bed, not knowing that Sam and Dean walked into the room shortly after. It was already dark outside, the moon high above the clouds as the door shut behind the Winchester's.
"Should we give him a chance?" Sam found himself asking his brother when his eyes shifted to the sleeping blonde.
"Rory? Honestly, I don't know." Dean moved around the room silently.
"You don't know?"
Dean gave him a look. "Don't you find it a little weird that he shows up in the same place that we where doing a case at?"
"Well, yeah. But he didn't know about the hunting life so it could've been a coincidence, Dean." Sam defended his girlfriend's brother.
"What if it isn't?"
"When we get to that road we will deal with it, until then, we should give him the benefit of the doubt."
"Why are you so sudden to defend him, Sam? This isn't like you."
Sam honestly didn't know why he was defending Rory Moore. Maybe it was because he was the only living Moore left in his life. He wanted a piece of Jessica in his life still, but he wouldn't voice that out loud to his brother. That would make him look weak, like he couldn't move on from Jessica's death.
Sam sighed. "Dean, Rory lost everything- just like I did. I think, well I know, Jessica would've wanted me to look after him. It just feels like the right thing to do."
"Alright. But you know if he makes one wrong move, we're dumping him on the side of the road."
Sam didn't respond, but all he did was grab some blankets and placed them on the couch, not wanting to move Rory over. He didn't know if he could sleep next to the blonde, he felt like he would betray Jessica by doing so- so he pulled the lamp cord and closed his eyes, drifting off to sleep.
______________
I'm so sorry for the long wait. I've been dealing with some things in my personal life- so that's why the chapters have been short and taken longer to update.
Also, Sam and Rory won't have a rushed relationship. It may seem like that but they won't get together until like part two of the book. Dean will not trust Rory much, but he'll lighten up soon to him.
This chapter is dedicated to intospn ilovedylanodamn and CalledKanzass again. Thanks for the support guys!
Quick reminder, please vote and comment as much as you can. It will give me motivation to update and write faster for you guys.
