"Mirabel!", yelled Augustín after his daughter. A one year old curly haired girl walked towards him with her two big sisters behind, their tía and tíos and two cousins. Abuela was already there. She held a small bundle in her arms and smiled at her daughter who was resting. The older woman handed the baby to Augustín, who turned around to the family. Everyone was excited to meet the new member of the Madrigal family, especially Camilo and Mirabel. "Her name is Solana Adria Madrigal.", announced the man and made everyone to cheer. "Es una chica!", cheered Pepa and hugged her husband Felíx. "She's beautiful!", exclaimed Isabela with a dreamy look and smiled. Augustín bowed down to Mirabel's level and showed her her baby sister. "Mi Sol.", she whispered, her glasses making her brown eyes even bigger. The curly headed girl stretched out her hand making the baby to touch her finger. Solana was holding her big sister's hand, not letting go. From that moment it was clear: Mirabel would protect Solana with her life.

Years passed and Solana grew older. She recieved her gift, fire manipulation. A very dangerous gift in fact but that didn't seem to bother her. Sol had fun with playing and experimenting around with her best friend Camilo. Both grew closer over the years and after Antonio's birth, they became each other's best friend. Antonio loved Mirabel and Solana. They did everything together and had the most fun. He taught them about all the different animals while they taught him how to read and draw. It was their thing to do.

Solana's gift was something everyone was afraid of. She could control it, yes, but not always. Whenever she was angry it just hit her and she burned down everything that crossed her path. Her Abuela was always afraid that she might hurt someone from the family but she always injured herself. Solana managed to burn herself multiple times after a tantrum and it made Mirabel to worry even more about her little sister. It wasn't fair that she was going through this. But that's the gift their casita gave her. It had a meaning behind it. She just couldn't figure it out.

As mentioned before, Solana and Camilo experimented with their gifts quite a lot while watching after Antonio. It wasn't a crime and both were just curious about what they could do. Camilo sometimes shape shifted into Solana so she could experiment without having chores to do or being disturbed. Of course her mother found out and forbade it but they kept on going. It was too interesting to leave it.

Solana's relationship to her parents was everything. Both loved her just as much as Mirabel did and she appreciated it a lot. Her mom always healed her wounds no matter what. While her two older sisters lectured her about how dangerous it was with her gift her cousin Dolores encouraged her to keep going with her practice. It wasn't like she didn't cared. It was just that Dolores believed in her. Unlike her Abuela. That woman would never trust her with anything. Pepa and Felíx admired their niece's bravery and ambition. It was nice to know that, thought Solana. Her tío Bruno on the other hand, yeah, we don't talk about him.

Solana's gift might be dangerous but it also is something beautiful. It brings many good things like light and warmth, something everyone needed in their life. The girl wasn't oblivious about people being scared of her. She just wished things would've gone differently back at the day she got her gift. But why exactly did casita gave her the fire manipulation will always be a mystery to her.

Until then, she kept on practicing and experimenting with it which got her in a lot of trouble through the years. But it was definitely worth it.
